  • And it's out! Yay! Only thing is that the Mac version and compatibility seems to have disappeared? I'm almost certain that when I pre-ordered there was Mac compatibility listed.

In the main description text it does say "DM10 is universal for iPad, iPhone and Mac with no in-app in it, once you bought it, you got it all!"... but there seems to be no Mac app available.

Maybe the specs changed and they forgot to remove the Mac reference?

Yeh I hope this hasn’t changed as I preordered based on it.

If you ordered it with the expectation it would have features that were specifically advertised, that should be sufficient to get you a full refund if you want one.

  • Ah, at last it's here! I'll have a go with DM-10 tomorrow in Cubasis. :) At least once I finish up the current track I'm working on in GR-II.

  • Looks nice! Just saw the 400mb size.

Indeed. I’ve sent an email to the dev so let’s see.

  • Just heard back and there was a small bug with the Mac version which is now fixed. I can confirm the app is showing in the Mac Store now at my end. Note that it's the usual shenanigans where it shows a cost and looks like you have to purchase it however there is no charge at the end of the process. Yay!

I need to try it later but i‘m not a fan of everything audiokit involved. The AK stuff i own did never run rock solid in the past. Maybe it‘s different today, we‘ll see…

No exposed midi parameters. Hopefully that's coming. This would replace hammerhead for me easily if it just had exposed midi params. 🤞🏽

Fantastic light drum machine. Randomization is good and will get better in future updates it sounds like. Great sounds even though there's no drumsynth option. Fx XY pads are a super touch. I love how easy it is to finger drum a quick pattern in.

Tons of pattern slots which is amazing. I think my only other wish would be to have all the kit sound selections and fx settings save along with each individual pattern.

All in all, well worth the buy.

Where is the midi full support/export etc. Loaded in AUM (midi slot) and impossible to send midi to another app…

  • Takes a little too long to load, hope that can be improved…would also be better to save songs to a shared iCloud folder as it’s now universal to iPhone and iPad. That said it’s wonderfully quick to build a song in and I’m very pleased with it.

That's a good resolution to the issue.

Does this mean AudioKit now supports AU on macOS so the most modern iterations of apps built on this framework will work in GarageBand and Logic Pro on macOS?

Edit: Looking at the macOS App Store, it does say "AudioUnit support"... but does that mean LP and GB? It's not entirely clear.

Audiokit doesn't support anything directly. It's just a framework of libraries to make it easier to create audio apps. It's up to the developer to make apps compatible AUv3 in hosts on MacOS, no matter if they use Audiokit or not.

It’s an auv3 on the Mac. It definitely works in Logic. Although it did take a ‘Reset and Rescan’ for it to pass validation.

Yep. I understand that. And my question is if DM10 works as an Audio Unit in GarageBand and Logic Pro on desktop.

So it actually validates? That's excellent news. AND if @AnalogMatthew is willing, perhaps his own synths will be updated to work as AU's on desktop? (please, please, please)

  • Has anyone tried it in Ableton?

Since I'm not familiar with the precise details of the AudioKit framework, it seems both you and Wim are saying that Audio Unit compatibility is something which is beyond the AudioKit framework itself.

Looks like it's part of AudioToolbox in Apple's developer's documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/AudioToolbox

Apologies in advance for asking questions about this if it's annoying or obvious.

  • It’s so good to have a choice of great drum sounds and a sequencer in one AUv3. The either/or apps can be quite frustrating to use

Yup. Had it working in Logic on the Mac. The only thing missing is parameters being exposed for automation — but that’s not such a big deal with this app.

I’ve asked AnalogMatthew the exact same question about his synths in the nerd synth thread.

I would definitely like nerd synth on the Mac for example.

I’m very much liking iOS auv3s being available on the Mac such as FAC, icegear and Rio Toyama to name but three.

It’s be good to see audiikit join the list :-)

I don’t tend to buy iOS only stuff anymore. If it’s iPhone, iPad + Mac it becomes a different story. DM-10 being a perfect example.

If we could only convince BramBos to make the Noirs available on Mac I’d be a very happy bunny.

    Psa. I’m not a bunny. If I was I’d be a grumpy bunny. :-)
