Holy shit, how'd I forget about Sketchclub? It's a pretty great app, that. Before ProCreate had all the features it has today and before the Apple Pencil 1st gen was invented, Sketchclub was my jam!

Yeah, I loved using that on both phone and iPad.

F it, after I finish a couple things, I'm gonna redownload it to my A16 iPad for a bit of fun. 😂

Some pixel art. Did a limited color palette challenge.

  • Something abstract

  • @FizzyLizzy27 The pixel art is stunning and lovely. 😊 The Abstract art is super gorgeous! Excellent work, mate. 😃

Bloody brilliant mate. :) I'll definitely save up money to get a custom-made traveller's journal. About how much would it run me?

Thanks man! Something like the link I sent would be around $130 .. depending on how it’s customized, it could be more or less ..

You're not kidding. That's some precision leatherwork there.

I draw birds and etch them onto my DIY effects pedal builds. Here’s a few recent ones:

Those have a flavour of False Knees style – that’s not you is it?

No I can’t take credit for that one;)

Excellent comic though! And funnily enough, I first learned about it when I posted some pedal pics in a DIY thread on another forum and someone there recommended it as kindred bird art.

  • Awesome thread you started Jim. I have been viewing everyone’s work. It’s so pleasant to simply look at, whether they’re the photos, woodworking, leather stitching, ect.
@stown didn’t know of touch enameling. At first i thought those photos were taken with you walking around a city and crouching to take close-ups of the streets. Really awesome.
@u0421793 , i really like that space that you painted of the photo you took in Gibralter.
@sigma79 , the painting where you added more strokes for the sun is pleasing to my eyes. I also like nature spaces

@dblonde, i love spaces that encompass hardscaping and botanicals. There’s a small section on my small backyard I’ve been wishing to transform into this fashion which you drew. Any chance you sketched your very own yard for this?

Thank you @NeuM for suggesting Art Set and Sketchclub. I never created visual art, I’ve tried but I’m too negatively judgy, but this thread combined with something i recently read about drawing — that it’s a form of problem solving, resonated with me. I got an Apple Pencil and procreate over the winter, but it was frustrating experience for a noob ( i did watch videos). Tried Art Set 4 over the weekend and it’s been a pleasure to use. I’m sketching an object I’m looking at and playing with the brush settings and colors.
Last night i did this using my finger with Sketch Club on my phone Se2 😂
It really is a fun app!

@mikejohn Roughly $130 is super reasonable! If I remember, I'll be in touch sometime next week. ☺️

@FizzyLizzy27 That's an awesome animation mate! Keep on making and posting here. 😃

    @NeuM Like I'm currently drinking now. 😂

@Blipsford_Baubie Cheers mate. 🍻 Been wanting to create a thread about visual arts for some time now. Wanted to see who else out there is creative in more than just our music. ☺️

Edit: Just saw your piece! It's gorgeous! ❤️

  • I went through a period of creating digital collages.

It really is a fun app!

Great! Have fun with these apps. They're a great way to learn and expand your skillset.

  • @jwmmakerofmusic said:
Yep, the old "is it good" forum trope is still going strong after over a half of a decade. 😂
    Yes it's pure abstract art

Thanks for the thread. I think music itself is generally abstract. I'll have to scrounge up something I've done.

I also coded the app, which is only made available very rarely.

Some time ago I started a naive abstract serie called 涙 (tears in Japanese). I like the colours and textures on those ones.

Nice! seems like textile designs; something that has interested me. Japanese textiles often look interesting.

I do some art but mainly make instruments. . . .

whoa! those look amazing! I'd like to hear how they sound. your drawing; also well done.

Lots of interesting pics; too many to comment now.

  • @shamanmoon These collages look super incredible. Second one made me chuckle, but in a good way.

@NeuM I'm having great fun with Sketchclub on my iPhone. I aspire to make something as excellent as @Blipsford_Baubie made on his iPhone SE 2. That type of art is my jam!

@MrStochastic Music indeed can be abstract. Modern Pop isn't as esoteric as, say, Experimental music, but it's all time based, whether there exists a time signature for a piece or not.

And it's my pleasure to create this thread. I really do enjoy making what I make, mostly on my iPhone to be fair. It fits in my pocket and is a great way to create Abstract art on the go, such as this which I just finished...

Can't wait to see what you post, mate.

Creative people tend to be creative in more than one field (at least in my experience). Many of my artist friends were also painters/illustrators as well as musicians or writers. If you're creative, you have to create. :)

I agree. Maybe not always experts across the board but they usually like to express themselves in a variety of ways. I’ve dabbled in painting recently nothing any good yet but it’s fun, creative, and very therapeutic. I like taking photos too, but just an amateur with an iPhone. lol.

I’ve been working in both visual art and music and mixing them together for most of my life.

This is an illustration I made a zillion years ago, that’s supposed to depict the famous violinist Tartini having his legendary dream of “The Devil’s Trill Sonata” painted in gouache.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violin_Sonata_in_G_minor_Tartini

I tried to jam as much Tartini info as I could find into it.

It wasn’t published, alas. It's an old pre-digital photo so not so great.

  • Another one, thanks @jwmmakerofmusic for a great happy thread its “ballerAF” for sure

    Some of my 3D art:

Love your artwork! Is this one inspired by Vermeer? He was very fond of side views of people doing things in front of a window.

Thanks, and yes that's well spotted, the scene is very much inspired by Vermeer: the painting at top right is a Vermeer, and the map on the wall, the tapestry, and the wooden globe are also references. This is the original lighting, which was meant to be Vermeer-like (I created some variations later)

That's a great picture Richard. I also do some Blender occasionally.
