    Some of my 3D art:

Love your artwork! Is this one inspired by Vermeer? He was very fond of side views of people doing things in front of a window.

Thanks, and yes that's well spotted, the scene is very much inspired by Vermeer: the painting at top right is a Vermeer, and the map on the wall, the tapestry, and the wooden globe are also references. This is the original lighting, which was meant to be Vermeer-like (I created some variations later)

That's a great picture Richard. I also do some Blender occasionally.

This is top quality work ... what 3D software/rendered are you using?

That image was created mostly with a 3D application called Modo, the character was created in Zbrush and the scene was textured and rendered in Modo. Modo was discontinued last year so I've switched to Blender, which has similar capabilities but with a less refined workflow.

Another one from the wall, this is a small canvas (270*350mm) and work in progress. I've just glazed it to lock the state it's in. The white entanglement is decorated by using the acrylic paint in a plastic bag and then cut a small hole in one corner. So fun. Once it's dried properly the texture can be sanded after you paint it over with whatever. The image lies a bit as it's not entirely dry. Also, the angled square approach is a bad idea and I must fix that, not sure what I was thinking 🤣

  • Thing I was working on yesterday (using a street photography shot I took in Oxford Street a week or so ago) and today I’m about to wreck it by inking over it – it’s okay, it was just intended to be a quick test, so I can sacrifice this

Sketches like that is great to just photograph (full circle you know) and "ink" it in Procreate. Just a thought.

  • Love all the artwork shared here. Some really great stuff!

I probably will go that way (although inking in Affinity Designer on the Mac with my Wacom, or switching to the iPad with Pencil) but for the time being I’m a bit preoccupied with dip pens, and need to get better at them, and also I’m swinging back into the fountain pen world digging out my old ones, but this time to use them for artwork (so far, a brand new hitherto unopened Jinhao 126 looks the better of the bunch for artwork)

I’ve had Procreate since the early days but have pretty much never used it except for 30 seconds every few years – also I should pay Inkscape a bit more attention (as I subscribe to Martin Owen on YouTube, an Inkscape developer who posts videos on how it’s going) but Affinity Designer tends to be the one that attracts me each time for line art, as I’m getting more accustomed to it over time

    I remember Modo.

Yes, things run their course. I have used Vue3D for many years but it was bought over and turned into a subscription package sadly.

But then to my great delight, after several years of development, the new owners decided to stop developing it and give it away completely for free, together with all resource libraries!!! 😮 When does that happen! So i was able to pick up hundreds of pounds worth of software for nowt!

But Blender has a better renderer than Vue3D, esp for interior scenes, so it’s on my “learn one day” list 🙏

  • @Pxlhg Awesome art! I wouldn't worry about the angled square, mate. :) It all looks perfectly legit and excellent to me. I like the methods you used. White acrylic paint in a bag, like a pastry frosting bag, is a pretty original and cool idea. :)

@u0421793 An amazing sketch, not gonna lie. I'd probably keep it as-is, but if you wish to ink over, that's also fine too. :) It's your art, your expression, and you must do whatever your muse calls you to do.

Okay update. I gave up painting in iPastels on iPhone to...

...paint in iPastels on iPad. I did 14 out of 20 paintings for one client on iPhone yesterday, and my index finger was worn out today. I can get some nicer detail on iPastels on the A16 iPad anyways, so that's a huge win in my book. Also, the tilt function on my simple USB-C stylus adjusts the size of the pastel application in iPastels.

Was going to try Tayasui Sketches due to how lovely the resulting art looks, but then upon installing it, they wanted to put me on a bloody subscription right away. So they can kindly screw themselves. I'd rather purchase real-world art materials with that kind of money. 😂

I went through a period of creating digital collages.

    also

    👍🏻

you're cranking out those pastels so fast, you could/should make an animation

  • @MrStochastic I actually did try my hand at animation at one point. Definitely not for me, lol. Way too time consuming. 😂

  • And now...

...more floral art. <3 Not sure if Abstract or Expressionist or somewhere in-between. I like the simplicity of it though.

  • Nice! I really like the first of the florals @jwmmakerofmusic

Thank you so kindly mate. :) I appreciate you. Yeah, I plan to create more florals after my "Taco Tuesday" supper, lol. Homemade taco meat done in a crockpot, but I won't go into details here as this is a "visual arts" thread, not a "what are you cooking, is it good?" thread. 😂

That's really fantastic! I like this album art. :)

  • And now, the final four of this commission. ☺️

  • @jwmmakerofmusic , you made good works there!

Thank you so much, mate. :) Can't wait to see what you lot continue to come up with visually speaking (and aurally speaking too, hehe).

You sure have inspired me to play with iPastels too. Trying to get more use to drawing with the Apple Pencil.

Yeah, the Apple Pencil takes a little getting used to. Some of the art however I produced on an iPhone. The above Abstract example was in Sketchclub on my iPhone while riding the bus to work, using my finger to paint.

Edit: But yes! Glad you're getting into iPastels! What a great app. ☺️

  • Meh. Not necessarily feeling this one. Should've not used a complimentary colour on the purples. 😂

  • Did someone say colour? :) Enjoy these low-effort entries.

  • Sometimes I enjoy myself with mission impossibles. This is made of plasticine and I thought I could do an animation. To much work though so, in another existence maybe.

  • @zoltan That's so beautiful mate. Keep on posting these pieces. ❤️

@Pxlhg Meh to animation, but hell yes to your amazing plasticine work! 👏 Love this!
