  • Yes I think cube sounds very good you need to read my post again lol. However Tera is one of the worst sounding synths to my taste in some time. Not terrible all the time but almost everything was not impressive to my ears in anyway in any demo I have heard thus far. I find Cubesynth to be very interesting and I love how you can morph it into new and interesting things back and forth so easily. And Damn cube just sounds great to my ears.

  • @soundklinik i bought Filtatron to try and it gave the AB initialization message so only useful as an offline fx processor, ios 8.1.1.

Tera is a good solid VA but i know it from the desktop version, demoed it a few times. The presets don't really do it justice IMHO but the percussion sounds and sequences are kinda where it's at for me. I don't think Nave could do some of things Tera can and vice versa but again IMHO Tera is a bit of a monster but it's hiding in a cave and needs coaxing out. :)

  • I also like Cube. It does require a fair amount of tweaking as the presets aren't that great. If you're not into tweaking, try rolling the dice a number of times.

  • To me most of the VirSyn apps have a clinical cold feel I think it's down to the reverb, not saying that's a bad thing, but it comes down to taste, compare AudioReverb and AUFX Space, cold vs. warm, but both have there uses, but if I could only chose one, AUFX, without a doubt.

I think I'd agree with that, even when you pull the filters down they still sound a bit sharp. That's the way it is with hardware synths though, they all have their own sound - my MS20 sounds much sharper than my mates Moog.

I think Nave has a bit more range, so it'll get more use. I still love Addictive, but think I'm going to pass on Cube and Tera.

I was hoping CSGrain/Spectral, Apesynth, Caramel, iDensity and Stria might have sales :( Guess I'll save my cash for when the new Mouse on Mars drum app comes out...

Snap, we'll all apart from iDensity and Stria already got those, and I wish the PPG Wave synths were to be offered as a bundle, recently on the Desktop plugins they did a bundle for both, so why not on IOS? Well here's hoping anyway.

Any info on DrumPerfect? I couldn't grab the last sale. Do you guys now (of course you do) if the sales are going to be big or as big in Christmas?

  • Yesterday on Black Friday, I gorged myself on £85 worth of new apps. Today I am ashamed. I feel like a big, fat greedy bastard. I am dirty.........forever.

I managed to pull off Buy Nothing Day yesterday. :)

I did drop $20-$30 or so this morning on apps though! Laplace, Bstep Pro, Guitar Capo+, Mobile Convolution Reverb and Bias. Now to try to use them all in a track tonight.

Almost bought an iPad Air 2 yesterday but every tiny complaint/issue I hear about it makes me fearful of being in iPad 3 land again.

Made me think, but I think things have gone too far, here in UK there was rioting in shops, up and down this nation, insanity really but at least here, most people share a love and passion for music and unlike a lot of forums a respect for one another, that is sadly receding from the world in general.

I'd agree with that, I'd almost given up on forums until I discovered this one. Nice place, very positive and supportive.

  • Fully agree with the comments above. This place seems to be a bit of an oasis in forum-land.

I totally agree. Another forum I'm on seemed OK at first, but when the subject of Ferguson came up almost everyone was making racist comments. I don't how bad it is elsewhere, but in the USA it makes me sick. This forum is a great escape from all that.

  • i'm ready to pull the trigger on Easybeats3 or RockDrumMachine. Can't decide. I really like that RockDrumMachine is the closest app to my favority Jamstix Drum app on the PC. Any suggestions?

  • I think it's the first forum i've been on where there's been very little need for moderation. :)

Are there any delays worth holding out for? All i can see really is AUFX:Delay so far. not that many effects on sale. Is more stuff usually added on Cyber Monday?

  • I would like to know that also, so maybe I can hold off and save some cash at least. I'm not in a hurry to get the drum app, if I can save some cash.

  • All Ye who doth protesteth at thyself regarding the absurd gluttony of your recent indulgence think no further than the silence you heareth from your bretheren who paid full price long ago for all that you did now score so cheaply.

    Sob.

@musikmachine & @Musikman4Christ There will be sales from now until the first of the year. Check out Vandelay if you haven't. The price of Rock Drum Machine was increased by more than double earlier this week.

Yeah, i thought about it too. Thanks to a nice gift card, otherwise i would have miss out. But, i hate to post about all the stuff i got. I thank God though, cause all I got is because He has provided. It is all to share God's love to the world through our music.

It's true. Other than the occassional spam burst, there's like a thread every 2-3 months that calls for a lock down. Considering how many people post here a day that's pretty much amazing. I'm going to credit it to age a bit—if you look at some of the 'who are you?' threads looks like 40+ is the mean. That and focus on a topic from which quite a bit of joy is born.

Are there any delays worth holding out for? All i can see really is AUFX:Delay so far. not that many effects on sale. Is more stuff usually added on Cyber Monday?

I'd pick it up immediately if you enjoy delays. I'm a hardware delay slappah and aufx:delay along with Echopad scratch most every delay itch I have. I like the vandelay app too but haven't actually used it much because those two pretty much do all I could want and my iPad 3 can't run more than two source apps at a time anyway most days. I would, however, happily purchase and regularly use the delay from Cassini were it available stand alone—it's eerily similar to some of my rackmount early 80s delays.

  • come to think of it, my use of aufx:delay and aufx:reverb went up a notch recently. I picked up a used LPD-8 from a local music shop for 30 bucks.

It has four presets, 8 knobs and 8 pads. I mapped one preset to the main controls of each (5 knobs for delay: mix, time, fine time, feedback and LPF, 3 for reverb: mix, time and LPF) and then two more presets for deeper dives into each. I have the fourth preset saved to hook up to echo pad, just haven't done it yet. I have the pads mapped to loopy controls (record, next/prev track, halve+double loop time...). Having spent the 30 bucks, spent the time mapping and saving a few AB States with them in two separate paths (leading to Loopy, Audioshare or Auria) I use them way more than I had been because the controls are always there next to me as if they were pedals. I did the same for my iPhone which I often use as a preprocessor for hardware (guitar or synth). They sound like EH or TC pedals for which people spend hundreds. I'm in for less than 50 with the controller.

I went from the iPad 3 32GB to an Air 2 128GB and I couldn't be happier (Aside from the terrible guilt of having spent a lot of money on a luxury item). Everything is so smooth and the extra space is so liberating. Mind you I still haven't got out of the "What do I need I delete in order to add this new app" mindset... even though I still have ~ 100GB free!

Amen, I'm at the point where I don't even bother reading the comments anymore on a lot of the sites I frequent...

Goes quickly my man, enjoy that airy spacious feeling while it lasts :) I am reminded (again!) of the old Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini: What you are now, we once were; what we are now, you shall be.

Momento mori with every gigabyte these days it seems....
