I hope you all get your $5 worth 🙏
My goal is just to breakeven on the studio time to make the app
lol, I actually had pre order remorse while watching Doug’s video, I wasn’t vibing with the wurly sounds at all, but once Doug started demoing his presets like haunted, I achieved satisfaction and the regret dissolved away.
The Wurli isn’t bad at all. I think people are just so used to hearing the same open-source Wurli code in a lot of apps and VSTs that a real one can sound “wrong” by comparison. Plus, every real unit is a little different anyway.
The Piano in the app is great. But, I'd go out on a limb and say that the real star here is the RHDS Stage 73. To my ears, it sounds better in this app than the Rhodes Pianos in my MODX. Curious to hear what other workstation keyboard owners think 🤔
TLDR, there’s prob something for everyone in this app.
I’m gonna find some corduroy bell bottoms to wear tomorrow before I play this app.
No External Effects, just the app. Great for ambient.
back in th day with an A200, I (and many others) used to dabble around with a few guitar pedals.. got some really good results too. Much easier with the mono speaker systems back then as well. Got it away from the, as you put it, well to paraphrase " the same old wurly sound"
And I have the MODXM and yes the Rhodes' in the app have more of a real Rhodes edge to them. The Yammie ones are good, but a bit hmmm, generic and bland. Which I guess is probs dues to the fact they have not changed much at all since the original motif, jmo of course
@AnalogMatthew got my preorder downloaded. Alas, I'm too tired for studio time tonight. Will have a play with Retro Keys tomorrow, play with some presets, and have a blast!
Oh I am in love with some of these sounds. Nice work @AnalogMatthew
Yes! I agree with all of this. And, some nice Guitar Sims or Rotary Speaker effects after a Wurlie make a world of difference.
Wow, really appreciate you. I love it when a $5 app can beat a $1800 keyboard.
And you have the new "M" series? How do you like it, I have the original old beat up one. Ha
Beautiful work, sir 🙏
It sounds great. I used to have a Wurly so this brings back some great memories.
Does this have hammer and release samples?
These details are what make realistic virtual instruments great for me..
Im tempted but Im afraid Neosoul Keys 2, v-tines and audiothings Wurli are leagues ahead already..?
It does good mechanical noise, but not the 'pitch pinch' cut off of the Rhodes (only VTines nails that for my money). Geeky detail though. Still very impressive for the size (and price!) and not really a fair comparison to the other apps because it covers so much more ground sonically.
Yeah its hard to argue with the price..
Any news on the P5 tho? 🙂🙂
I guess it's me. Pleasure to be meeting you
(I have already too many toys and not enough skills, time and mental capacity to play with them)
FOMO got me and this is a capable of some lovely stuff. Made 4 very different and really playable presets off the CP Dream Repeater preset in ten mins. Feature request! Another page with 4 more assignable lfos with different lfo shapes like in your other apps would be the icing on the cake. It’s capable of some gorgeously dreamy moving presets all ready but I want more! Give me more Matthew! Pretty please?
Yeah, super lovely sounds- been playing in piano motifs with multiple instances sidechained with pan station. Good stuff!
These just get better and better, @AnalogMatthew. Impressive that it's such a small size. Great control of transient, sustain, release partials. Beautiful phaser, chorus implementations. Low fidelity mode is digital rather than expected analog grungy, but that's a quibble.
Really, really nice. A new standard kit.
Yes, tired of same same and the lack of new inventions is as stunning as the ridiculous joy over something we already have 500 versions of. I've bought enough of these emulations that I later never use, I mean, I want to be supportive but reached my limit.
20 minutes in and have found much usable material here! I’ll have more time later this evening to see how it sits in with my loopy pro tenplate.
Same. I have.. five, six EP apps? I’m good! I’m full!
I didn't buy this, but maybe I will in the future, I don't know. I love eps but I have VTines for Rhodes and Pianoteq for piano. I don't enjoy the Yamaha CP Grands, that's not something I would use.
I do love the sound of a Wurlitzer ep. I haven't yet found a Wurlitzer app for iPad that I think is amazing. This one sounds a little odd to me, I'll have to check out more demos.
I was using Marsielle as my default piano for piano motifs… switching to retro keys now. It sounds so much better
It’s really good. Great for atmospheric stuff.
Can someone try it with Harmony Bloom? All I’m getting is clicks from any presets I try.
@AnalogMatthew
Samesies
Thx @Squishy
FieldToneAudio is live right now and he tested it too.. confirmed also
No Sostenuto.
Since using with pianoteq.
Wouldnt be able to use a piano or e piano without.
Id even want synths to implement but piano is a must now.
also getting strange midi behaviour here when using Woodpecker by Woodman, especially after manually cycling through the notes using the step button .
Also the toggle switches are inverted ,so when turning on the bitcrusher or the delay for example you are turning it off instead.
Sounds absolutely fabulous by the way and also great introductory price
