  • very cool. if they drop the requirements of iOS 8 i would pick it up. but i refuse to upgrade the OS.

  • We have lift off - downloading now with IAA and AudioBus capability. Oh yes!!

  • It will be interesting to see how that goes, but I still don't have the hardware to run it.

  • It's now on the Bus!!!.... Works great!...... To get it playing, just load any app that has midi out. Then configure the midi preset(turn off the synth app sounds you are using, or you will get both sounds playing out)..... I used Navichord to play the sounds. Works like a charm.

  • Very cool. Posted on SC using it through AB...

Didn't stress the sounds though...piano only.

  • GM heaven! So awesome having that arsenal in good sound quality conveniently in the Audiobus/IAA realm. Love this app.

  • Is it just me or can anyone else hear pops and clicks throughout that track?

@funjunkie27 Now that's some ivory-tinkling....sorry to be the n00b on this, but I put all thoughts of buying SC to one side until it was AB etc. Can you give me your opinion, however short and sweet, as to why someone who has a basketload of synths, sample tank, module, midi/sequencer programs already etc etc would/should choose to buy this baby?

  • No...I hear them too. I posted after listening on low volume through the iPad speakers. Thanks for letting me know. I need to see where that's coming from and need to stop posting stuff without listening closer too!

  • JGY - I bought it out of nostalgia, in part, since I still have the HW version, but it also gives me a very broad array of voices without the large footprint of SampleTank. Even so, I think that if you already have BS-16i or some other multi-timbal apps, SC might be redundant.

Thanks for the quick answer. Makes sense. I guess the answer is to listen more closely to the sounds and see if I 'need' them. Such a blurry thing this need/want divider :) Thanks again.

YEAH :) Now if i only could save own sounds/multis.But i'm hopeful there is a good chance they improve it further.Time to finish my TB midi stuff editor...

  • Of course I was driving it with Different Drummer...I wish I could plays keys that well! The popping seems to be related to just that DD composition. Others I've tried don't exhibit that problem, but I can't find the cause in that one I used.

On another note, I've had problems with the instruments changing. DD doesn't send PC, so I'm not sure what would be causing it. Anyone else seeing this?

  • Today we have it!

Roland Sound Canvas for iOS got both Audiobus And IAA today!!!

    Hooray!!!

  • Roland Sound Canvas and Fiddlewax Pro is a awesome combo.

nope. not here. but i do think I hear a weird light digital distortion (i am using a pretty crappy speakers in a chromebook though)

  • Could anybody confirm that SC works on an iPad4?I don't find it in their list of
    devices.Thanks in advance!

  • Looks like it 64bit only.

  • It's not even possible to buy the app (Soundcanvas for IOS) if trying from an unsupported device.
It requires a 64-bit device for some strange reason...

  • I couldn't buy it on my iPad4, but I could on my mini retina. I didn't think it was 64 bit, but it works.

  • edited March 2015

The iPad Mini Retina (iPad Mini 2) has an A7 chip so it's 64-bit...

  • Lucked out then.

  • After the first test:it's once again the most lazy IAA implementation.Only as Generator and that's only because the AB sdk supports that.Anyway,it works and great to have nonetheless.

  • Got myself an Air 2 a few days back and had to get Soundcanvas for iOS and don't regret it at all.
With MidiMux/AudioMux it works perfectly with Logic Pro X
It works well with MidiIO too but I somehow prefer the combination of AudioMux/MidiMux.

The downside of getting the Air 2 is that all those apps I was unable to run before are there just waiting in the AppStore... Grrr....

  • Interesting math there: Consider buying the new machinery but remember to figure in the cost involved of all the new apps that are now available to you :)

  • sound canvas is on sale for three days 12,99

I wonder if I should get it if I have Sample Tank?

  • Get both. Double your sample artillery, if you can afford it. They are both good in there ways. I found Sampletank sluggish on the midi side of things. Sometimes it responds, sometimes it doesn't.

  • The sounds are good in sound canvas, and MIDI works well enough, but i Wish you could save preset configurations or changes made in the system menu instead of going back to initial state every time you open the app, also you cant disable all MIDI input ports in the core MIDI setup, so its not possible to use sound canvas with apps like midiflow, imidipatchbay or MIDI BreakBox.

  • Yes,it's awful that i can't save presets/multis/options.Sadly this keeps me away from using this more often.

  • So: Consensus is that even if you have Sample Tank this is worth having as extra artillery? I am quite proud of myself for not buying this upon release and thus, of course, want to reward myself now :)
