Hmm. I can't find any way to save a 'part-setups'.
The 'Song-List' only saves a list of midi-files making the feature pretty much useless for creating 'Multi's'.

Making 'multis or part-setups' would be very neat for performance and sequencing purposes, at least they could have given us a 'save current part-setup as .mid template' as a temporary solution...

With the latest update Soundcanvas can save a 16 part setup that can be recalled later, it saves the sounds, level, delay, chorus, reverb and pan settings, you can also name it, no need for MIDI files.

Hmmm. Wow. Didn't realize the extent of this.....anyone tested it yet?

I have not managed to get this to work at all :(

Where do you press to 'save' it??

  • I think I've found it...

When pressing the 'level' There is RED save and BLUE load...

  • @Samu

the save button is hidden in the level menu where you set level, delay etc., from there you reload and your instruments are how you saved them including settings for pan, reverb etc.

I have to admit they tried their best to hide this feature :)

    Press the"Level"button.

  • @jgy

i haven't tested with 16 instruments, but it worked as it should with a few

Yeah, It's quite well 'hidden', I was looking in the more obvious places, like under the MENU or EDIT buttons :D

ARGHHHHHHHHH! Think of the man/nerd hours we have all in our separate parts of the globe wasted this afternoon/whatever and the lack of self-esteem we have suffered from by not being able to fucking save PEOPLE.

HOW (and notice that OW takes up most of the word) do you sit in a meeting, stare at the thing, poke with a fork, and say, lovely, all done?

    Sorry. Annoyed.

  • Thanks to everyone. And yes it saves all 16-parts with all those parameters we can edit in the UI.
I guess it also saves even more if we do Midi CC and SysEX from an external Sequencer...

SoundCanvas with Genome is a really nice combination :)

  • @Samu What do you consider to be the simplest half-decent combination? I have played with Genome a little, but put it to one side because of getting confused (same old :). But obviously one needs something with many patterns if you want to make the most of the numerous Sound Canvas channels etc. Any other options that might work well beyond Genome, in your opinion?

  • @JohnnyGoodyear It all depends on the personal preference.

I have too many apps to choose from Cubasis, Genome, Koushion, Auxy, BeatMaker 2, ProMidi...
All these do more than 2 midi-channels at once, there might be more but those I have on my iPad Air 2 at the moment.

Fair answer. Was looking for a magic bullet in a forest full of arrows. Auxy/Cubasis will work fine. Thanks.

  • Is this worth it now with the latest update?

  • Every penny worth.

    yep

  • Is Canvas Multi-Timbral?

Any reason to add this to an app collection that includes BS-16i?

    Thanks.

  • Depends on whether you like the included sounds or not really

Yeah, Roland Sound Canvas is Multitimbral...

    And, it's sounds amazing!

Check the link to the Midi-file earlier in this thead (Lullaby in Birdland)...

  • I'm really hoping that Roland will someday integrate a full GS/GM-Editor (Similar to Yamaha Music Mobile Sequencer) into the app as I'd love to have an easy way to edit the insert-effects and also easily adjust the other available sound-parameters.

I'll have to give ProMidi another run, but for now I'm really enjoying using SoundCanvas with Genome trigger patterns to arrange the 'stuff'.

  • Anyone having trouble getting the iPhone (6, IOS 8.3) version to work with Audiobus? I'm using the updated iPhone version of Sound Canvas (ver.1.1.1 (build 1129) and Audiobus 2.1.16. I can load SC into an Audiobus input slot, but when I launch it it brings up the full screen SC app. but never toggles back to AB. When I double-tap the home button to switch back to AB it shows SC as not being launched. SC is the only app. that behaves that way.

Yes. Have the same problem on my iphone 6 and my iPad Air 2, guess it needs an update to Fix this.

Ok, thanks. I'll have to check to see if the problem happens on my Ipad Air 1. SC into AB had been working fine on it. Not sure if I have updated SC on that one yet.

  • Seeing it on my mini retina too.

  • I also noticed that it doesn't seem to work with AudioBus anymore. I use it on iPhone 5s but not my iPad2.

  • oh...oh...after reading about the issues i have the strong feeling i should test if it still works as IAA in cubasis.

  • @Dham, I also have the problem (Air 2)

  • @Gratouilli said:

I tried it on my Ipad Air last night and did not have the problem, BUT I have not updated it (yet) to the latest version. I think I will wait until the fix is released. Makes you wonder about their beta testing methods......

I have the problem on my Air 1 too... But I DID the update on it too, so this release isn't audiobus compatible.
