The appoholic in me won once more so i bought it now, even if i have not really use for it in the current state, lol. Most expensive irrational purchase so far![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
BUT,i don't regret it.It's exactly the missing link in my app arsenal and it sounds really great and not dated imo.Roland is aware of AB and IAA and i don't want to believe they are stupid enough to banish so many potential customer.I can see this becoming one of my fav apps IF they put AB/IAA in and an option to save own multis (at least it should restore the state after reopening the app).
Would be nice to see this iOS Soundcanvas well integrated into say Cubasis with dedicated GM/GS-Mixer for easy saving of setups within projects.
In the old days there were many dedicated 'mixer setups' for Cubase. I had one for my MC-303 with patch names and all other things nicely laid out and ready to be automated![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@knewspeak: PC doesn't work for me.Not sure what went wrong,it's pretty easy to setup unless i overlooked something.
But i won't use it anyway because i would always need to check the manual for the Bank/PC number.
working for me crabman.
you have corresponding track selected in SC?
you can save your project as a preset....ish
tap mixdown in cubasis >midi > start.
tap share > open with > sound canvas.
in SC > file open > press play..(it will need to play for a second in default setting before it loads yours)
should have all your settings saved
(but will go to the first instrument in each set.....there's about 30 saw's on 081)
close both apps
open load n play
Haha.
At that rate, you'd have better luck with iDos/Power DOS and uploading your midi files to play there emulated. (PS> it's pretty easy to get Gravis Ultrasound wavetable going, which does a great job with MIDI files...)
@drelbs23, we could always try a kickstarter for a Babbage and Daguerre spectral cog synth!
Although Tesla probably already created one.
Bummer that my devices are too old and slow. Wah-wah
@knewspeak, if it makes noise, I'm willing to use it!
You don't know how many times I've wished apps like iDOS/PowerDOS and/or stuff like Modizer / AdvancedMusicPlayer would play with Audiobus...
...and today Roland released v.1.02 of the awesome Sound Canvas for iOS...
But, why why WHY dont they give it audiobus or at least; IAA??
Pity to use such a good app with disabled functions...
Hurry up Roland!
Only fixes for all this MFP stuff. Are they thinking people want to use it only as a stand alone Midi file player?Really?Although they show at least they are willing to constantly update.
I'll wait another update and then i decide to refund it or not.
I'm hoping Roland will sort things out in time. I would have been way too upset with the lack of IAA-Instrument/Generator support and it doesn't even have proper export .mid to .wav so I'm kinda happy none of my devices can run it.
For now Soundcanvas for iOS remains a $20 'Midi-File Player' for the A7+ generation of iOS devices when it could have been so much more...
Haha, yep. That paragraph pretty much nails it for me. Well, you can play the instruments using a MIDI keyboard, but without IAA or AB, what's the point?
Roland's kind of like the guy that wanders into a party and starts jumping into conversations cracking jokes without really knowing what's going on. Maybe they'll take step back and figure it out eventually.
I already tried to comtact Roland on different channels (spamming japanese and usa twitter and mailed them as well) 2 weeks ago.I even got a response from Roland germany and the promise to forward the requests to the product manager at least.
I agree that AB and/or IAA would be useful, but if you have a good solution for getting the audio out (I'm using the USA-202), it is pretty awesome to drive SC with another app via virtual midi and capture that.
@funjunkie How are you using the uca 222 to record the audio back into a daw? Thanks
@funjunkie, on second thought is the same thing possible with the EIE?
Should be possible with the EIE also, although I haven't tried that. With the UCA, I'm just connecting the 202's USB cable to the iPad, via a CCK and then using the S/PDIF output of the 202 to go into the optical input of my MBP.
So what cable are you using for the spdif?
There is a much easier way to record audio directly from iPad/iPhone to your Mac (assuming you are on iOS 8).
Quicktime will allow you to do a straight audio recording either compressed (mp4) or uncompressed (aiff) via the standard lightning cable, no extra hardware required.
This would allow you to make a purely digital recording of the Sound Canvas for example without an audio interface.
oh,really? Thanks for the tip, which OSX version is required?
Thanks guys, but I'm trying to record audio from Roland Sound Canvas back into my IPad Air without use of a Mac.
I'll make a new post about this now, as it might be helpful for others who aren't aware.
I believe the QT trick only works with Yosemite. If I had known about that previously, I would have gone that route.
I bought a cable through Monoprice, although I don't recall which one exactly. I think this should work...
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022902&p_id=1557&seq=1&format=2
Also note that not all MBPs support optical. I had to dig a little to ensure my late 2011 would.
To plug into a Mac's optical port you would need a cable with a Toslink plug on one end (for the UCA 202's output) and a mini Toslink plug on the other end. Mini Toslink is a 3.5 mm plug which is the same size as a typical Mac headphone jack.
Monoprice in the US has those but I'm not sure about Europe.
Hope that helps!
Didn't realize that the mt-32 was released the same year as the D-50 and used the same "LA" tech.
Audiobus and Inter app audio will be added to the app in a future update
