wow just played the microlouge synth, pretty darn awesome! Just created like 8 patches all really nice string pads, and even some bellish pads. I totally had forgotten this synth.
You never know that Steiberg may even release other stuff as well later? Maybe Retrolouge, or others, ect?....
So it turns out all the sounds for the drum kits are spread out across the piano roll, and fixed in place. When you edit them on the pad screen they are only edited there, and remain assigned to their piano roll note, like C1, D2, etc.
Mildly annoying because it's not true kit customization, only pad input variation, and if you want to use an external sequencer you potentially have to spread out your note inputs across a wide range of octaves.
Would be nice to have a true custom kit option, with drum sounds organized into folders (opposed to one massively long list), and the ability to assign sounds to specific notes. The way they did it is kind of strange, and only useful if you plan on using the pads in Cubasis.
Whatever. I'm rambling. Would be nice to have a lot of things in Cubasis.
Couldn't agree more, I do like Cubasis but everytime I have to zoom I get #!##*#.
Also I would love to have a 'line tool' when editing volumes and that the change would only affect the selected notes not 'all' notes (which happens if I try to draw a line by hand even when only a few notes are selected), arggghhhhh!
So let me get this right: it takes 339MB to create an IAP icon! What the **** are you zapping my limited space with?
Yeah, that's really annoying when they do that. They load the IAP stuff with the update even if you don't use/purchase. The same thing happened to me with neosoul keys which is whale size as is.
Anybody else having no (metronome)precount anymore?Afair it was like this in the last version as well but i didn't pay attention because i was mainly working with Gadget and Auria.
no precount here either.....tbh...Cubasis is still pretty uninspiring in its current form for me personally no user samples at all apart from placed audio files in the timeline....
A question for those using the new effects and also use Auria, are they on par with the Auria stuff do you think?
So,no precount (on Air 2 with 8.1.2).Great.After playing arround with it for a while now i "remember" the main reason why i stopped working with it.Cubasis is just NOT tight. That is the worst you can say about a Midi Sequencer (especially given the long history Cubase has). This is a simple 8th bassline test.It should be TIGHT if you are doing electronic music with a focus on a straight four2floor rhythm.Otherwise it sounds like shit.Or like a drunken sequencer. As you can see on the pic,it's not just (pre)delayed all notes in the same manner. The notes are shifting.WTF Steineberg?
edit:sorry,i meant this pic but is the pic uploading not working?

Precount is working fine here after just checking again.
I can't help it but I'm silently wishing Apple would release 'Logic X' for iPad.
I know the messy Cubasis 'zoom' issues are mention in Cubasis forums but still no 'action' from the developers which makes me doubt they even use their own product...
Yes, I don't really rate Cubasis as a DAW, but I love that synth and it's the reason that the app is still installed on my iPad!
Which iOS and Cubasis version do you use?
I wonder, beyond these rooms, if the Cubasis developers really see Auria Pro as a worry? Be interested to know. I presumed that the announcement by Mister Rim would have got Mister Stein very motivated, but perhaps they don't think that the majority or their current or future customers really care....
iOS 8.1.2 and the latest Cubasis that came out yesterday.
Pre Count is fine, it's just turned of by default, who knows, anyway even if you have it set you still have to turn it back on. Top right hand corner, hit REC MODE, and highlight the last of the four icons named COUNT
I have a feeling that the music app market is too small for Steinberg to really worry. My guess is that Rim is playing a long game with Auria - Drumagog on the desktop is the revenue maker, and Auria is more of an investment in the future. Pure speculation though
If Steinberg were really concerned by Auria they would have improved the FX in Cubasis by now. They haven't done so, which is a shame because they have actually made 2 quite decent synths in Micrologue and Nanologue, but in terms of processing Cubasis is years behind Auria. Once Auria Pro comes out with MIDI then I can't see any reason to buy Cubasis, considering they both sell for more or less the same price.
Thanks Doug I remember now that it happened to me the last time I updated, but why it did not this time is beyond me. I was going to mention it but I forgot what setting it was , I went and looked at the metronome settings instead of record mode settings.
It took me ages to sus it out
aah,there was my mistake as well.Thanks @Doug!
I grabbed the 2nd Fx pack last night.
It is really nice. They remind me of Voice Rack quality and style. I would definitely recommend. Just for the sheer fact of ease of use, large knobs, and overall accessibility.
They are low to no CPU as well.
After i played arround with both packs for a while now:both are definitely worth the asking price,no question. My favorites are the Tape delay,Wah pedal,Stereo width and Talkbox (although i don't see myself using it often). But all of them are nice little helper but i wish they would have put in just one stereo delay and a better sounding"classic"reverb or compressor. The delays are VERY similar with the exception of longer delay times (on the...well...long delay).
Just experimenting with BeatHawk as an IAA node in Cubasis....controlling via virtual midi....it maybe the Cubasis sampler I was looking for
No. That's not a knock on these packs though, as much as it is a testament to the quality of the effects in Auria, which are third party desktop effects.
That being said another thing I like about these new packs is their simplicity, which falls in line with the simplicity of Cubasis as a whole. You get a nice large interface to work with, compared to the somewhat tiny controls in the Auria effects.
Could you please elaborate a bit more? Thanks!

I might just use Cubasis as a Synth this coming Sunday worship service. That microlouge synth really is huge! I also wanna use BH but trying to put all the pieces together to ease of use. I created ten user patches in Cubasis and they are ready for live use.
Select an audio track, choose source as inter app, choose Beathawk.
Select a midi track and then select virtual midi and midi channel 1-16 controls pads 1-16 in beathawk
i also have to admit that micrologue sounds really good.I always ignored it because i couldn't get over the fact that it looks like Minimoogs and Neons (the first vst) unholy brute (seriously, the pseudowood looks so butt ugly compared to the rest in cubasis,it makes me almost sick) but i gave it another shot today and made a lot of own presets. And it sounds way way better than it looks.
how cool. i hadn't thought of that and it opens lots of possibilities! Thanks!
