Wicked, I wonder does this work with Mpcpro and launchpad?
+1
Not a Cubaser (ooh....Pixies flashback), but this works very well.
Brand loyalty seems to go a long way. Cubase was my gateway DAW, with an Atari & Akai S2000 all those decades ago & despite earlier versions of cubasis having crashed losing entire tracks ( remembering the horrors of the 'undo bug' ), its apparent inability to record live audio solidly for a decent length of time ( dropouts, glitches, etc - space limitations of my ipad2 ? ) & often producing a somewhat 'thin' sound to my ears...I still hang on in there MTDAW has been much more dependable for me & if it didn't fall down on its lack of precision editing / midi, I could probably do without cubasis altogether. Often end up having to record live takes into MTDAW & then bouncing the stems to cubasis for arranging. So gonna skip the update, as I won't be buying the iap fx whilst there are so many other options on the table, thus the only result of updating would be further loss of space. As others have already said, surely the basics should be sorted out first.
Again, the apparent limitations dictate the workflow & that painless, streamlined process still glints alluringly from the end of that tunnel. Human ingenuity tho ! Where there's a will there's a way, workarounds that folk produce never cease to amaze & compared to multitracking temperamental mini moogs onto 4 track tape, this stuffs a doddle !
Hi everyone,
I have read through all your comments, so please allow me to chime in at this point.
Both Cubasis and our user base are taken very seriously at Steinberg: this is why we’ve released around 15 feature-laden updates with an average of 20 or more topics per release on a regular basis since introducing the app back in December ’12.
Obviously, creating high-quality products require highly qualified manpower, the infrastructure and, last but not least, a lot of time and money. On the other end, all of the Cubasis updates up to now have been free of charge for existing Cubasis users.
And while we’d really like to fulfill each and every one of your requests (new features, fixes and improvements) by implementing these in the very next update, you should be aware that this will never be possible; instead, things have to be taken step by step. While it may not always appear this way from the outside, requested fixes can result in severe consequences and therefore have to be scoped over several update cycles - not to mention unforeseeable events that require immediate attention alongside the scheduled additions.
I strongly recommend to take the FX packs (recently released as IAP with 1.9) as what they are intended to be: a great offer for interested Cubasis customers.
If you generally disapprove of IAPs or you’re simply not interested in the products, then there’s no need for you to buy them.
Interestingly, those customers who have bought the Cubasis FX packs seem to be pleased with the effects both in terms of quality and pricing (of course, we’re very glad to hear that).
As announced with the 1.9 update, the next Cubasis update will focus on 64-bit, new features, improvements and further maintenance fixes. Again, to cover this scope a lot of time and effort will need to be invested until the update will be ready for release.
Be kind one to another and enjoy being creative;)
All the best,
Lars
Lars, it sucks that you hog my limited memory with IAP i won't be buying! I am not against IAP I just feel it is abusive to force me to have to have so much memory hogged for an update that in reality is but a fraction of the size your company has forced upon me by installing the IAP on my ipad! I am a loyal user on iPad and Mac but i am now admitadely looking on the horizon at Auria Pro, which i wasn't prior to this abuse of power by your company! I am really incensed at this action taken by steinberg. It is abusive!
We talk about appr. 40 MB in total here...
So what is taking the other 300mb?
App and content...
The only thing that this update says is it is for IAP. It's ok saying it's doing something else but specifics should be expected!
Maybe the demo songs take up space. Are they deletable?
Good question....
@LFS I bought the both FX-updates to show my support and also hoping that the issues mentioned in other threads will get some attention too.
I know 64-bit is an important issue for future-proofing the app and i have personally a very strong feeling that iOS9 will most likely be 64-bit only.
The issues that bug me personally the most are in no particular order...
Annoying pinch-zoom. It's mentioned numerous times in different forums, it 'hides' the zoomed content (it ends up behind the track inspector) that need to be scrolled back to view.
IAA-node track freezing. It's just unreliable (missing, note-start, glitchy sync etc.) even when following the 256 buffer advice.
Sample accurate trim/edit of recordings (The 'zoom' is there but even with grid off it's not possible to edit down to sample-level)'
Lack of proper built-in 'sampler' (for custom drum and synth-sounds).
Tool (Line/Pen) to 'draw' velocities for selected notes. (editing volumes does not respect the selected notes, it edits all velocities for all notes on the track).
I presume full support for IOS8 FIle-Picker/Provider extensions will be a natural inclusion in future versions as it would make it seamless to import and export data in and out of Cubasis to many places.
Looking forward to the next update...
Even though the tone in the forums might sometimes be harsh reading I feel it's more showing the passion and engagement people feel towards a piece of software.
Good roundup @Samu. I suspect the better something seems as though it could be the more annoying it is that it isn't (to some of us).
@LFS i understand a little about how company policies dictate disclosure but it would be great if you were able to give a little more detail and expand on....
'As announced with the 1.9 update, the next Cubasis update will focus on...........new features, improvements and further maintenance fixes.'
...thanks...
@Lars - appreciate the chime in - good to know you folks are continuing to listen ;-)
Thanks for all your immediate feedback so far!
@DaveMagoo
The 64-bit step will take some time both for engineering and testing. While it is too early to speak about the overall 1.9 scope it might be possible that we share some more information in the progress.
@Samu
As mentioned above we'll check the possibilities what to include next to 64-bit.
@MusicInclusive
Thanks, appreciated!
Best
Lars
Hi Lars....some more 'interesting' info on the IAA freezing issue....
http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=75702
What I find interesting as an observation is it seems the larger the developers are much less attentive to their users interests than many of the independent ones! I know also as an observation that the more detailed the developer is in a dialogue back and forth with the users and willing to work on such things the better the apps themselves become as a result. It is good to have someone like Lars here to do just that. I think it shows a concern for the app itself and it's future improvements.
I had an issue using Altispace as an IAA plugin on 1.9. Just gave random noise on mixdown. I've used it before successfully. It is one thing Cubasis needs to fix - reliably using IAA plugins...
@Tritonman Agree, I wish Moog did more of that!
@LFS:
thanks for stopping by,much appreciated!
regarding the hard and long work of development:it's obvious but i don't think most people are moaning about unrealistic expectations.There is some really basic stuff that drives me nuts and is already requested since the very beginning.Or it's something that is an absolute essential for any serious DAW.Not being able to trim Audio without any quantization,the fiddly zoom or no preset system for the plugins to name just a few examples.
Fiddly Zoom!
Not being able to trim Audio without any quantization.......
Yes that bugs me too!
btw I don't have much problems with the zoom. You'v got to get used to it. After you zoom in or out, don't try to also scroll with 2 fingers, you've got to do that with one finger.
Just fyi: Any new apps and updates to iOS apps will require support for 64bit in June this year.
I'll try to be more 'clear' why the zoom is fiddly...
The 'gold standard' for pinched zooming is that the the information under the finger that is not moving stays in the same place.
I resent your anti-fiddly-zoom-you-fat-fingered-people-I-know-better prejudice!! (but thanks for the tip).
Spot on explanation!
To add to the 'fiddly-zoom' if both fingers are moving the starting point stays in the middle.
Ok I know now what you mean. Yes that should be improved!
...enjoying noodling in Cubasis again with a little Audiobus, Beathawk & Sampletank and a sprinkle of audio...
...the above together 'just work'....kind of rejuvinated my interest in Cubasis a little as a midi sequencer....
