@pascal_kaap: Sorry, might i asked you here this since i maybe misunderstood it on your official site...

Will it be possible to use Audiomux also without Audiobus? I really love Audiobus for some reasons but it would be nice to avoid the 16bit 44.1khz limit.

  • @Cinebient: Hi, at the moment there is no other option, but grabbing audio from Audiobus and IAA. Currently we support Audiobus only, but will integrate IAA directly in the future. Our transfer bandwidth is already 32bit, so it will be possible to support other formats. Cheers, Pascal.

  • @Cinebient We added IAA integration (including 24bit support :)). Will be part of the next upgrade. Thanks for your suggestions. Cheers, Pascal.

  • That's great.... bought ;)

  • @Paulinko said I had no problem driving GarageBand and Logic Pro on Yosemite with several different iOS devices and using Logic Pro to drive iOS apps.

I'm a midiot so please bear with me. Was unable to make midimux work with GarageBand as I could never see the ports on the ipad. Success however with trial version of Ableton Live. Do the ports on the ipad show up in Logic Pro in such a way as they can be configured i.e. Track, Sync, Remote. One thing I found confusing was that the sound was present on both the ipad as well as in Ableton. Is this there a way around this other than just monitoring the sound on the ipad.

@Deselby in Logic Pro the midi tracks have midi ports and midi channels that can be assigned to them. If you click on a midi track and then click on the little black triangle to left of the instrument by name in the channel strip to the left of track region (located below inspector) you will be able to see the port (e.g. Core Audio) and the midi channel (e.g. All). If the midi track is for an external midi instrument (such as an iOS app), you can specify the port (e.g. SP Electro@YouriOSDeviceName). In addition you will need to click on the record button on the track to arm it to play the midi instrument on the track in Logic Pro.

In GarageBand you just click on a midi track and make sure the headphones are on and then play the midi from your iOS device. If that doesn't work in OS X GarageBand, you can go to preferences, Audio/Midi and at the bottom there's a "Reset MIDI Drivers" button. Another option if problems persist is to quit the apps and restarting the Mac and iOS devices from a cold start to get in sync again. On OSX there is an Audio MIDI Setup app in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder which you can use to setup midi and audio.

  • Demo up in the STR, it will be a great day when this is released.

  • @CSwinn, thanks for the vid. I can't wait for audiomux! Did you try playing the iPad keys with audiomux to see how the latency is?

  • Very nice! Can't wait for a simple live audio input from iPad>mac to filter my favourite iOS apps trough kaleidoscope and b2 (yes i'm a 2caudio fan and i hope someday they do an iOS app too). Recording audio and put then FX on it is not as good.

  • @CSwinn Nice set-up Colin...

  • @Bootsy, I was playing an Oxygen 61 keyboard last night plugged into Ableton, sending it's midi to Korg Module, and recording clips of its audio back into Ableton. Latency was not an issue for my playing, and my clips were near perfect loops (though you can see the waveforms start JUST after the 1 bar). It seems pretty solid to me.

  • Pretty exciting! This should really make iconnectivity somewhat unnecessary?

So, question. Can you send the output from, say, two synths in two AB chains / lanes to two instances of audiomux - one in each lane (one real instance, sure, but like Cubasis, Auria, MTDAW, etc.), and then have it present two stereo pairs to MacOS - one for each synth?

  • Can i connect my iPhone and iPad at the same time then too?

  • Maybe this has been answered... but will Audiomux work iOS to iOS?

for example: ipad > lightning charging cable > Lighting USB camera adapter > iPhone

I'm assuming the software makes the iPad act as a class-compliant audio device... so technically it should work, right?

Doesn't appear so @Hmtx. I get a message on the iPhone saying "connected device is not supported" and inside of Audiomux, it says "not connected via usb".

@Cinebient, not quite. At least inside of Ableton, you can only select one instance of an audio input/output. I was however able to get the iPad audio (Thumbjam) routed to the iPhone (into Audioshare) THROUGH Ableton. See the attached photos.

@MusicInclusive, that doesn't seem to be the case either. This set up of two synths just turns to one chain in Audiomux. The desktop receives it that way too.

  • @CSwinn - that is very good to know - thank you. And a reason I would continue to use my iCM2/4+ devices as well. (Not that I wouldn't anyway, just that it's an extra reason to continue to :-) )

  • By which - I don't mean to say I don't like the idea of audo/midimux and MusicIO - I do! MusicIO saved the day for me in a hotel last week where I had forgotten my USB->lightning cable for my XKey, but had a Macbook with me. Worked perfectly with my XKey plugged into the Mac and MusicIO between the Mac and the iPad. Polyphonic aftertouch etc. all good to Animoog.

Should be possible by creating an aggregate device in OSX's "Audio MIDI Setup" ... will give this a try when I get back to test Audiomux.

  • That would be great. Thank you!

  • Aggregate Device should work, its a simple Audio USB Device so. I use Aggregate Devices all the time, one of the best things about OSX in my Point of view :)

  • The Audiomux app is in the App Store and I'm waiting for the bundle.

  • edited March 2015

Not in germany.... i'm just waiting for this app.... hurry up!

Edit: Oh, it's there! Just couldn't search it...... Yes, i also want to buy the bundle!

  • I'd love a bundle of midi+ audio mux and touchable - but excited to get it and try it out.

  • When i was about to buy it, it read that the app has been taken off the appstore.

  • What? I bought it straight away.....

  • when, just now?
