How did you get your picture to display bigger? mine are tiny in both my browsers, therefore pretty useless.

  • Oh really, makes my old 1st Gen Mini look like super sloooooow :D

Still I'll keep my cool and wait for the release of iOS8.3 and also see what requirements 'iOS9' will have before i plunge and get a new iPad...

I'm sure you'll be OK getting air 2 monzo you just need to lower your expectations even though coming from an earlier gen iPad will definitely feel great.

Yeah....shame the Air 1 prices are still pretty high, it'd be an easy decision otherwise.

If you have to make a decision before the tax year is up, I'd say go for it, ios 8.3 is rumoured to be out in april and if you find its not fit for purpose after the update lands you'll be able to get a refund and grab an air or swap it with supadom for his air, you might have to get him drunk first tho.

Here is the fx setup I was running in turnado.

Thank you, I was able to recreate your setup. If I switched off the Stereoliser FX it worked perfectly on mine, but as soon as I dialed it in the sound broke up and it became unlistenable. If you can now run that setup without glitches then that's a definite improvement on what I have now.

It's a tough decision this - spending a lot of cash on the latest model I know has quite a lot of issues, though the iOS update may fix this, or instead getting the safer, though older model at a price that's not a great deal less.

  • Johnny your talk is a lot like a grown up for someone with feet this small.

@monzo I'm really light weight so anything above 4 pints of lager should do although Old Rosie would probably be much more effective.

  • @supadom those are my feet old chum, thought you would recognize our friend @monzo sat there, still not off the pot...

@mister_rz I'm not sure you're inserting the pic. Upload it and then hover on the thumbnail and you should see the option. OTOH you may just have a very small, erm, pic.

I'll be on the pot all night at this rate

  • @mmp said:
Monzo Oh buy the thing already!

Wouldn’t that imply utilising time travel?

  • @JohnnyGoodyear

I've heard there is a place out in california where I can get a pic extension, so I'm going to check them out and re-upload, I'm using my ipad so im not sure how to hover over, just selecting attach a file then pressing post comment, can people on non ios devices expand the image, how would I do that on ios if anyone knows?

I just get the blown up image on Windows 7

  • I think the only way to really know is to get one. I know that sounds a tad simplisitc, but I imagine it's how it works for an individuals needs.
For me, the camera, touch ID etc. aren't of any interest, but that extra GB of RAM and the CPU are - and more to the point, what real world differences they make over an Air. So, I suspect I'II get one soon to find out.

I think I'll bite the bullet before the month's out unless an Air 1 comes up for sale secondhand within traveling distance.

  • I say just get it if you are planning on upgrading, you can return it if it sucks or sell it to someone not doing music. Apple will absolutely never ban you from giving them money...
Or get an air 1 now and use it while awaiting the next gen. My air is very solid and does everything I need. If you check out my album under the name shutterwax on spotify, etc, it was mixed entirely on iPad, in auria, started on ipad2, then the air freed me up to finish it without as many workarounds.

    Equipment won't hold you back

Quite how would it ever be possible do that?

UK Apple store has at least 2 weeks money back policy.

@monzo I've given it a lot of thought and I'm worried you may be rushing into things here. No need to be impetuous or rash. Caution my friend. Lots of other fish in the woods. No need to go off half-cocked. Better to be safe than, you know. Faint heart never won fair lady, it's true, but this is a significant investment. Priorities. College fund. Think of the children etc etc.

Yeah I sent an iMac back a couple of weeks ago, I guess it's the same for iPads. You don't even need a reason.

I've found an Ipad Air 2 64GB WIFI for £350 secondhand, just 6 months old and still in warranty. Not sure how transferable that is as I think support need the purchasers email when you contact them. That's quite tempting as it's £125 cheaper than new, though it's got a small scratch on the back apparently.

Ideally I'm looking for a 32gb Air 1 for around £250 if I'm going to go secondhand. There are a few around, but they're too far away to go and checkout.

  • @monzo

Good to know you could see the images I posted, will just post images from my laptop in the future for ipad users too.

    @u0421793

I was thinking about what I read on this page http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty for people in the uk, having a device that glitches when using certain audio apps, when older devices don't have the problem, especially if you bought an ipad air 2 with music as a focus, would imo, which could be wrong, qualify as either defective goods or breach of contract due to flaws. However looks like ios 8.3 sorts out the problem, so there is coverage just incase monzo takes the plunge, but discovers the air 2 to be not fit for purpose, which looks unlikely after the vids peter posted in a different thread.

I'm going to get one as soon as I see another good sale on the 64 GB Air 2s. The news about IOS 8.3 sold me although I may have done it anyways. I'm not desperate enough to get one this second though so I'm just being patient and waiting for a good sale. Right before the news about IOS 8.3 came out there was a place on eBay selling these exact models for $479. I would have gotten one of those if that news had come out a few days sooner. But there will undoubtedly be another sale like this because we are at the time in this generations lifecycle where these things start to happen more and more frequently.

In case you're wondering I have an iPad 3 64 GB and it is causing some problems and frustrations now.

My thinking is I would rather pay less than $500 for 64 GB version of the current generation iPad, which is immensely powerful I might add, then wait until October and pay at least $600 for the next iPad. As a long-time user of Apple products I've found that waiting for the "next great thing" rarely is worth it. Plus I will probably get a little more for my iPad 3 now than I would in October. This factors into it as well.

Once you get caught in the waiting game it's difficult to get out of it!

  • @paulyboy, I do wonder if 64MB will be enough space? ;-)

  • edited March 2015

If you can afford, always go for 128GB.I went one size bigger the last 3 pads (32,64...128)and i love the big size.First time i can have everything i want on my iPad without thinking too much about space (i have also movies, itunes library, comics and games on it...it's my main"computer"and my macbook is collecting dust...or just a better movie player ;-).And Cubasis or Auria alone can suck space like crazy. Both together are currently roundabout 25 GB on my device. One reason is whenever i make snapeshots, all the files are doubled (at least that's what cubasis does,Auria behaves a little different). And i make more than one snapshot since i lost projects back in the days (for both auria and cubasis). But yeah, maybe i should clean up a bit :)

  • I use my iPad just for music, and as I get by with 32gb at the moment 64gb will be plenty. I actually prefer not to have too much storage as I get lazy and it'd fill with clutter. I like the idea of using it for drawing, so the stylus bug worries me.

Woops fixed! Yeah 64 GB wouldn't get you that far these days hehe.

Even if you only make music, apps tend to get bigger all the time.A GB here....a GB there...and full :)

Yeah, I hadn't factored adding in Auria, that sounds like a big one. Might be lucky and get a 128 Air 1, couldn't afford that spec with an Air 2 though

  • @monzo said:

Then i would definitely recommend a 64GB Air 2 over the 128GB Air 1 ;-) Currently you are fine with 64 if you just make music. The bigger one is just more"futureproof".Ar least for a while ;-)

I haven't found any good secondhand Air 1 deals, though I did miss out on a good Air 2 one due to pontification. I've got 6 days to make a decision, so likely I'll push the Air 2 64gb button on the Apple site.

  • ok bullet bitten - one 64gb iPad Air 2 ordered from the Apple store...I can get off that fence now :)

Wow, congrats! Looking forward to a 'first audio impressions' review.
