In terms of a real use case on iOS 7.1 on an Air1 I also get this glitching happening when I have too much happening in too many tracks at the same time and I go into a gadget (seems fine in the overall mixer screen though).
I'd say to be honest it's about 12 tracks all playing stuff at the same time.
I notice this, not because I normallly need 12 active tracks packed with notes, but because I use the mute button and try out different combinations of different parts all along the same scene and hitting mute on a part doesn't stop it processing it unfortunately.
Yep got some glitching when I got to ten tracks. I could only manage four on the old pad though so I can live with it!
Audiobus seems to be less temperamental now, maybe rebooting and reloading apps creates a cache somewhere. Overall the Air 2 is a blast - hardly any issues at all, really happy with it.
And now imagine what you can do with 25-30 tracks,cause that's what the Air 2 should be able to deliver But soon enough,we'll have that back.

Pushed the air2 to glitch point during last night's audio frenzy....a 'stand alone' iprophet was particularly unhappy for some reason ? Quite a lot of problems with audiobus too....sound dropping out when adding to the fx slots, ejects, quits & restarts required to get it back up & running. Some combinations were fine, othes not & it was a bit late in the day for me to try & figure out a rhyme or reason.
....not meaning to sound down on it though, as I have also been able to utilise many previously unimagined combinations. No regrets here.
It seems to be completely random - mine was working a lot better yesterday though. On the whole though the iPad 2 is a superb device, no regrets at all and hopefully the Audiobus issues will get fixed.
Yup, my thoughts exactly.....still iOS glitches or AB ?.....I've no idea & havn't followed the numerous threads closely enough to hazard a guess. Just now f'rinstance..... isem>turnado>glitch>gliderverb - no problems & all sounding lovely. Add gadget with a simple 4/4 kick drum, still good.....tried putting a gadget bass part on & the whole thing broke down. Looking at the cpu levels it shouldn't be an issue.
Congrats Monzo, so what's up with Animoog, I love that app, it's not working right on your A2?
Thanks! Haven't really tested Animoog but the first time I tried loading a patch it quit. I started it up again and tried some other patches and they seemed fine. I'll give it a proper test at some point - I might even put up a new thread with the results for each app just in case anyone else is interested.
I'm still on 8.1.1. Haven't had any Audiobus dropouts for a while, though I've had the odd blast of feedback when loading in an app. I've found closing AB and reloading everything seems to fix it if it starts having a hissy fit. Haven't tried Gadget in AB I'll try and test that tonight.

Have you written to the glitch's developer. This sounds like a bug!
Lol, simple tho it is I like glitch for what it does.
Actually I haven't had any Audiobus issues at all since the first couple of days. I've been opening apps from inside AB, swapping them around etc. with no problems at all. I'd say apart from the Gadget bug and the occasional blast of feedback in AB (noticed it happen in Doug's latest vid too) the Air 2 is working perfectly for me at the moment.
so would you then say that when you're not using audiobus that everything is perfect?
love audiobus, but I'm more concerned about how music apps work by themselves.
Apart from Gadget, and iMini not appearing in the AB app list everything's running beautifully. I haven't tested Animoog recently, but very happy with everything so far. I can test a particular app if I have it, let me know and I'll check.
I bought the air 2 128gb yesterday. First impression: happy about the overall speed, but disappointed about the AB performance with Bias and a few effects apps (Svep and Echo Pad). Needed to set the latency at 512 and the overall working was not stable. (example: no guitar sound, but complete weird terrible noise when I moved a button within Bias). Perhaps this has been discussed here, haven't read every post. (I upgraded from the iPad 3)
I had AB problems when I first started using my new iPad, but after a few reboots it seems to be working better.
It has been discussed to death here so i'll make it short this time: sounds similar ("terrible noise"=audio glitches?) to an Air 2/iPhone6 related bug that will be fixed in iOS 8.3.
@kobamoto
I'm finding animoog a bit flakey on mine, load it up, press a key, crash, load it back up set music io as a midi out, crash, but after a few times reloading it settles down and I can use it.
@monzo
Did you get a case for yours or go commando?
@Monzo and @Crabman - thx guys for your information. Happy to hear that it probably will get better.
I've always been commando with my iPads but I'm getting a case for this one - the narrower borders mean I keep accidentally touching the screen when I don't mean to, and the beveled edges are a bit sharper than the old one. Bit of a design fail there IMHO though the iPad 2 feels surprisingly heavy when you go back to it.
I just loaded Animoog and it crashed as soon as I touched a key. Loaded it up again, put it through AB - no problem. Closed it and opened it again - no problem.
@monzo
I found I liked the weight a bit more after I got my case, feels very fragile without it, just not sure about the edge protection with the case I've got now. Agree though with how sharp the bevel around the edge feels, not very pleasing to the touch, narrow borders make it seem a lot smaller than my ipad 3, which feels like a mini tank now, I mainly use my ipad in landscape, so I only run into problems when I grab it, I've had to get used to having the home button on the right side, due to how my case folds out.
I've only recently got the midi iap for animoog, I'm enjoying using it as a controller for my laptop, especially looking forward to assigning polytouch to different things, on the volume side of things, I can't get it to slide to increase the volume of patches in maschine, it works if I play lower and higher on the keys, but I love the slide, makes me feel musical. I was having a nice session with it last week, I'd be like, I'm going to play this in, will sound sweet, hit the keys, back to home screen, not now animoog I'm in the middle of my flow, I'd have to load it up, just to hit the panic button to stop notes playing, then it would just work for hours on end, hope that gets sorted soon.
Overall though I'm happy, extra oomph is giving me ideas for things I want to try out, can't wait for 8.3 to drop though, ios land seems to be getting increasingly colder for older devices and os versions, understandable to a certain extent, when new features require certain api's or extra horsepower, but frustrating when I was on my ipad 3 and ios 7, seeing requires ios 8 and ipad 4 and higher and everything was nice and smooth on 7, such is life I spose.
Haven't had a great day with mine - bought FLUX FX and seem to have issues with it, and now Audiobus seems to be playing up again - and on top if this a weird issue with sound breaking up when using an external speaker....but only when I'm using Audiobus. Felt like sending it back today - the old pad and iOS can't run most of my apps now, yet the latest available iPad is giving me just as many problems. Fed up with it, instead of making music I'm fannying around trying to work around bugs.
iOS 8.3 should be out this month....keep the faith brother
@monzo
I got a bit fed up when I was using gadget, so I've stopped for a while, with flux have you turned off the animation? I found I was getting spikes in cpu at times, but then I'd go back and things had settled down. I'm wondering if all the extra processes that run on newer devices can have an affect on performance at times, looked at the processes running on my ipad 3 with just the homescreen running and compared it to my air 2, and started wondering are all these things really necessary, I'm not using mail haven't even set it up, why is it running etc. 8.3 can't come soon enough.
I've got animation switched off, and coming from an iPad 2 I've still got the habit of closing all unused apps and running in airplane mode. Tried running Nave, DM1 and Thumbjam together earlier and it just couldn't cope. Then tried Thumbjam on it's own through AB, which I can do with ease on the iPad 2, and again the sound broke down to crackles.
Had a really good couple of days with it, but today nothing has worked properly. I hate wasting time like this, particularly when I've just spent nearly 500 quid. If I have another day like this it'll be going back to Apple.
Sounds like a lemon.
Frustrating as all hell.
I wonder when 8.3 will be released.
The Air 2 is working for me so far. In addition to the music apps their is a general feeling that the iPad is more responsive and apps open quicker.
