So....all quiet on this forum now?
I have been asking Auxy developers to replace the stop button at the top of the column for the iPad version since that fateful day I updated the app sooooo many months ago. It seems insane to me that for such a well loved app this essential 'bug' has not been rectified. If I want to stop a track from playing in the mix I have to open the volume control and slide it to 0% This setting remains until I slide the volume back up - workable but just plain poor design and totally frustrating for jamming and recording.
As a non programmer - and considering the stop button was there previously - can any programmers out there tell me why it isn't as easy a fix as copying code from the old version of the app and putting it in the current version so that the stop button once again exists and does what it needs to do? I understand it might not be this easy, but from the outside it seems like it could be, so why not spend 10 minutes fixing it? I'd like to work out if Auxy devs are truly as some of you have portrayed...my experiences haven't been good but I am open to being educated on the difficulties (or ease) of minor app amendments on the iOS platform. From my observations of this thread it appears most of you have given up on Auxy.
If Auxy had a song or pattern chain mode I would use it more often. I'm enjoying modstep instead.

Are you talking about stopping the whole song, or just an individual pattern?
Can't you just tap outside of the playing pattern (like on a blank pattern area) to stop the currently playing one?
the thing with the stop buttons is that they disappeared as a design decision, just like velocities disappeared as a design decision in order to make auxy as simple as possible. these guy's philosophy is to make things a simple as possible, and sometimes even more simple.
auxy is still good but will eventually be displaced by something more actively developed like infinity loop or modstep.
Auxy is somewhat hampered by the inability to play "scenes" manually, thanks to the lack of stop buttons, and the lack of a song mode which would have worked in its stead. Once I have my patterns made, my options are limited.
For me it's too simple, though there's still fun to be had noodling.
It's certainly possible to have software that exposes simple interfaces to novices but can offer deeper options to more sophisticated/familiar users. I hope they realise this and push Auxy in that direction.
Background audio would be start. The new Link feature is currently only half as useful as it could be. :-/
Deleted my whining post. Buyer beware, I should treat my $5 more carefully.
The problem occurs when every pattern is accounted for and therefore no blanks to press. This happens very quickly for me when producing music in Auxy - 10 patterns per column is workable but ultimately, for my style, I need many more.
I guess I was lucky to have gotten onto Auxy after the elimination of velocities - I have seen the ire that has resulted from that decision on this forum. Auxy is great because of it's simplicity, but the removal of column stop buttons in my mind is not congruent with the 'simplicity model' as a) it has made it more difficult to effectively make music, and b) the space where the stop buttons were was not cluttered in the first place.
So if devs are going to continue to be aloof and uncaring to their actual dedicated users needs, as JohnyGoodyear puts it, "Cause and effect".
So, in the future, where to from here? I haven't tried Modstep but it looks good. Have not heard of Infinity Loop but will check it out. I have Auria Pro but it does not fulfil the niche of what Auxy provides me as far as jamability. I am certain an adequate Auxy replacement will emerge eventually.
But really, wtf Auxy devs? I have had so much fun using this app (which I paid for before it became free) making outstanding compositions (hot topic: use midi out to Nanologue and Synthmaster player apps) and will continue to use it until an adequate replacement app arrives on the market. Auxy for me provides, and could continue to provide (with some minor fixes) the backbone for incredible music making potential...
So, the AUXY update for IPhone there are no more effect controls?
Or am I missing them?
