  • @Proto, I have been using .caf files in BeatHawk with much success in terms of syncing tempo and looping well. I prefer using iCloud Drive on my Mac to copy and store CAF files. Then BeatHawk can directly go to iCould Drive (iCloud - Import File) and load it directly into the User Library. You then assign it to pads in BeatHawk.

    If you have a Mac, you can use the free Apple Loops Utility to create .caf files from any audio file. It slices and creates loops.

    Seriously, why didn’t anyone before forcibly make me sit down and watch the SynthQ videos? I would have got it, in more than one way, if only I’d have viddied the vids. Just saying at the time of launch that “you can queue up bits of synth” and “it”s got garish colours” didn’t really put it on the essential list for me back then, but now I’ve re-read the launch thread here and viewed the videos pointed to…

    Great tip. I didt knew icloud can also be used to open files in audio apps. I only used it to make some ipad backups and store pictures. Thanks

    You may have done me a favor; I bought Synth-Q and deleted it in the same week....obviously not understanding its pluses. Maybe I need to go take a look at the vids also...

  • Indeed, SynthQ is awesome. Kinda silly UI to me but a fantastic engine! I love it, totally with the price

  • Synth-Q, authentic dub-step wobbles, grimey sounds ... Agree.

  • Casio CZ and Sunvox, just two of the new app sales
    http://thesoundtestroom.com/app-sales/

  • Mmm Casio CZ - any good? Didn't know this existed.

  • I have felt compelled to buy SunVox since it's on sale - and some people seem to absolutely swear by it.

    It looks very complicated and scary - but if I can sample a few sounds out of it's drum synth i'll feel more than happy about getting my money's worth.

    Never tried using a "tracker" before either.

  • FYI, if you are considering one of his two "PixiTracker" apps, they are on sale as a bundle for $1.99 in the US store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app-bundle/pixitrackers/id982131454?mt=8).

    i've enjoyed them on the pc and amiga back in the day. Renoise is a good modern one on pc, rather powerful that you can get a free version of I think. Did a lot with that one but I can't imagine the appeal of a tracker on ios though as they are classicly very computer keyboard oriented.

    I really love their UI. It didn't take me long to get used to it and I find the idea to be a great way to avoid getting too cluttered when writing a patch. I also like their color scheme and the fonts (I even like their loading splash screen, a lot actually). Very underrated synth.

    I really hope that means they are about to release something! That's what happened with M1.

    For from the talk among the apparatus,—blood, flowers, fire, jewels—

    From the agitated accounts on this fleeing deck,

    —You can see, rolling like a dyke beyond the hydraulic motor road,

    Monstrous, illuminated endlessly,—their stock of studies;

    Themselves driven into harmonic ecstasy

    And the heroism of discovery.

    That about sums it up.

  • The boy stood on the burning deck
    Whence all but he had fled;
    The flame that lit the battle's wreck
    Shone round him o'er the dead.
