I honestly think all three are bargains even at full price, that's if those particular synth sounds float you're boat!

Going to get them through TSTR site.

Always on the fence about gettin Arturia apps. Never pulled the trigger. Are the even 4.99 apps?

I'd recommend buying one of the iMini or iSem at least. I'm partial to the former due to experience with the real units, and I feel like Arturia did a great job evolving the very compact development of sounds. Dat bass

I cannot believe iProphet hasn't been fixed, even with their reputation. I'm still holding out hope it's actually usable for extended periods one day.

What sort of problems do you have with iProhet? I'm on Air 2 iOS 8.4. The only problems I have is when using it in Tabletop.

  • Picked up all three. Thanks guys.

Let us know what you think. The presets are ok, but all three are good to program your own patches, that's when they shine.

  • Toying around with imini first. Great tip to create my own patches. Don't. Know why I waited so long.

Working for me :) Air 2 8.3 using a QuNexus. Edit: not so sure about velocity on second thoughts I think it was an evolving pad I tested on..sorry

Iprophet is my favourite at the moment of the Arturia apps, seems the least buggy too via iAA although I rarely open imini these days.

It has an annoying preset import thing though where if you import presets via iTunes it deletes your saved presets, seems no way to merge them. Needs an update.

Yes you are correct, as far as I know velocity does not work. I can't test this at the moment as my midi to iPad converter is not working and I'm inputting from the screen.

I believe that the Velocity is not so much a bug, as a design flaw by Retronyms. Apologise to all if I'm wrong or if this has been fixed in the last update, but I believe that in their infinite wisdom Retronyms did not consider Velocity or Pressure important on the iPad version they programmed for Arturia.

I have to admit I have not been bothered by this, as the way I use the sounds of this type of synth does not need Velocity. I can imagine this is a nightmare for others that would use the iProphet differently to myself.

Remember, as I say, at this time I have no way of testing this, but as soon as I can, I wil test it.

  • Certain polyhonic presets and some deep bass sounds get 'stuck' after a couple minutes of using them and panic doesn't work. I can tell it's about to stop when it starts making a low-end static noise that is never intentionally programmed by me.

Never had this happen. Is it only certain presets?

So it probably is as buggy as my old Waldorf XTK used to be! Lol

I have the same problem with iprophet. very annoying. it is otherwise one of my favorite ios synths.

  • That bug can be easily recreated. Just slide 3 fingers to the side on any of the polyphonic presets on the touch screen, not as easy with a midi keyboard.

  • O wow....never had that happen before, but three fingers sure makes her hum lol

Tempo Rubato just tweeted something interesting - "iSEM on sale! Get it now and be surprised what comes when iOS 9 will be released"

probably applies also to Nave and Nlog, the surprise not the sale

Does it still do that if you disable multitasking gestures in iOS settings?

Haha, yes, I disabled that a very long time ago and never turned it back on, I multi-finger my surface a lot.

  • I'm here to recommend iProphet at sale price to anyone who doesn't have it yet. I do need key velocity and sustain pedal to be added but as is it is worth the purchase. Oh and the stuck notes need fixing too.
    Hopefully an update is coming.
In the meantime I would get it while it's on sale.

    Sounds very intriguing

PS. would love to see Nlog on sale too

    Ok, thought I'd check. :-)

  • Another problem I've had with iProphet is the iOS 'cleaning process' wipes all user presets.
Happened to me a couple of times, losing many hours of tweaking...

Probably won't affect people with 64GB+ iPads (unless you run one of those memory cleaning apps).

My advice is to backup user sounds just in case.

  • And it got a major update too,
Great fun with this app !

  • @fjcblanco Hmmm. Might be interesting. Thanks for the nudge. Appreciated.

    The demo by Mr. Doug:

Sorry, I didn't find it at TSTR site.

  • Seems quite interesting youcompose. Thanks.

  • @fjcblanco Thanks again Sr. Blanco. ALL the way back to January 2014 when Sir Doug was just a hesitant young man still dreaming of AB2 :)
