That’s what I have always done too. You don’t need to delete anything to get other items on the share sheet.

no, unfortunately it doesn't always work like this, but it should. Sometimes apps don't show up on the more list.

@bennorland @NoiseFloored I had to delete 23 apps before it would show up as a destination to share the presets to. Once I did that I didn’t have to even select “more.” Didn’t show up in more or the first part of the share sheet until then.

    That sounds horrible.

    Apple cannot do nothing right.

I already deleted 11 Apps, but it does not show up.

It will be difficult foe me to delete even more.

I just dragged a zip file of presets to the bottom right of my iPad screen and AZ opened and imported them. AZ is in recent apps in the dock which may make a difference. They are Rustik presets. I tried several of them and they all worked fine. Apple doing OK by me. 😉

@tja I just tried in another iPad with a different account, and the app does show up in the share sheet. I'm curious about @Stuntman_mike's drag and drop solution, but I can't reproduce it

That was with the free version of the App?

Yep! That's why I tried on a device with a different account

Edit: Another option without zipping the folder: you can go into the Animoog folder, navigate to the single .preset file and share that to Animoog Z instead (if I just tap a .preset file it just opens in Animoog Z automatically)

I tried that too and yes, I could share a single preset file to Animoog Z.
It even is shown as the icon of those files, which would directly open the App.

But I have 24 preset folders and several hundred of presets.
I will NOT share them one by one 😅

Only hope is @MoogMusicInc to add some "import zip" option.

Animoog Z already imports from a ZIP… maybe you should communicate directly with Moog because these problems should not be happening.

This seems to be a problem with the share sheet or some internal limitation of the number of Apps registering for a file type.

Moog cannot do nothing about this - besides offering an import option in the App itself.

Have you tried dragging a ZIP of presets directly on top of the Animoog Z app?

Not exactly sure how to do that.

I tried to open the dock while moving the zip around in the Files App and tried to drop it on Animoog Z.
This opened the App, but no synchronization took place or anything.

Could you post a video of drag and drop like that. I am not understanding how when gets an app icon to drop onto on iOS. When I drag a zip nothing I di results in the dock being visible.

  • I’ve tried a few times to import my Animoog presets and can’t get it to work.

Does it work with the free version?

Can’t do a video right now. The dock did not pop up. It does this (see pic) and then AZ opens. It took 2 tries for the presets to install but that also happened a couple of times doing it from Files.

Thanks. Now I understand. I was looking for the Dock to popup with the app icons.

I don't understand the problem here. You tap on More... at the end of the icons in the share sheet and it offers a list of all apps that can accept a zip file. Just pick Animoog Z from that list and you're done. No deleting required. Here's my More list, scrolled down to Animoog Z.

It mostly works like that. There was no AZ in mine and each time I deleted an app a new app would become available in the more section.

You don't understand the problem because you don't have it

You might get all apps in your list, lucky you - some people don't. For some users "more" shows more apps but not "all" apps. Weird.

  • Yep. More is not working for me, either. I tried copying all the preset folders into the Animoog Z iCloud Presets folder but that didn’t work either.

And I have no idea how the drag and drop zip thing works. I spent about 20 mins trying that one lol.

Hopefully @MoogMusicInc will chime in with another method as I’m not planning on randomly deleting apps.

    This is an instant purchase.

Anyone who has played with this a bit comment on cpu use? Original was super light compared with Moogs hardware models, how’s this compare?

My iPad Air 3 cannot handle more than 7 instances playing multiple notes at a time. Even changing the buffer and turning off the FX doesn't do much.

  • First time I imported my presets from the old Animoog I couldn't see them in the new Z.

So, I did the import process again and this time they were there in Z.

So... if you don't see them after the first import, try again.

Yes, Animoog presets work in Animoog Z 🤩

It’s so good I didn’t want it to be missed.
I assume $9.99 is the introductory upgrade, so buy it quick!

Woohoo ! 🥳 love Animoog n this was free 🥰 thanks for the heads up 🤩

Your animoog z update was free? I already owned animoog for ipad and animoog for iphone and still had to buy animoog z. I'm perfectly fine with that, but why was your animoog z download free?

There’s a free version with few presets. The $9.99 upgrade to the full version is money well spent.

Ahhh, I bet that’s what he meant.

  • If you’ve already got both the original animoog for iPad and iPhone installed… after you export your old presets from the original, is there any compelling reason to keep them installed if you’ve purchased z?

  • @gusgranite I found I could just drag the zip file to the edge of the screen and AZ would open and proceed with the import. I am not just tapping on the file. I tap and hold then drag. Seems I have had to do the process twice for most files to successfully import but it has worked every time for me whether sharing from Files or dragging as in the video.

  • OK and presets were finally imported successfully.

Used the drag and drop from the Files folder to the bottom right of the screen.

Really appreciate the video! When I do the same it opens the original Animoog. Did you delete the original?

  • edited November 2021

OK, it worked! I had to copy the zipped preset folders to the Animoog Z cloud drive and then drag them to corner so it associated them with Animoog Z and not the original. Nice! Thanks all.

[Edit - most don’t seem to have any sound. Hmmm]

You’d need them if you want to open any old host projects that use the old versions. If that’s the case then simply offloading those apps is an option. That way no old data is lost.

  • Holy shit. Just woke up from sleeping a full 24 hours (I needed it, don’t ask) to this. I absolutely love the feeling when Moog drops an app out of nowhere!

And the import of Animoog 1 stuff is so nice and tidy via .zip!

Now to go get lost again. I told you guys this was coming (I wasn’t sure when exactly), but you didn’t believe me. A bunch of “wishful thinking”, huh?

Yeah, yeah - go back to sleep!

I have to admit that when someone (maybe you) expressed a desire for an AU Animoog a while ago I though "well, that 'aint gonna happen" and now here it is.

Haha, honestly I’m a bit surprised. I heard from a friend of a friend who went to one of those trade shows and heard from a Moog guy or some random in the know, I guess. I chose to believe.

  • Drag and drop did not work for me. All the iPad would make available was one particular file reader app that accepts zip files.

BUT deleting just one app that was listed in the “more” drop-down menu in the files app DID let Animoog join the file share party.

The way the iPad handles its file system feels so cobbled together.

Yeah, it’s still a mess after all these years. Maybe if they hadn’t been such control freaks from the outset…Recall the dark days before no Files app? Audioshare was a freakin miracle in those days to at least download/store/unzip basic stuff. Back when Audioshare got away with having an in-app web browser.

  • edited November 2021

I recommend not loading the Adventure Kid timbres. User imported presets and timbres seem not to be sorted into sections with a drop down menu so it’s an impossibly long scroll to find stuff. Just deleted and only imported over only the official Moog timbres and presets and that’s way more palatable.

  • Oh snap, even more happy I got that Take 5. Excellent to finally have an aftertouch keyboard to MIDI up with.

Yeah I’m a little zombified and also way too hyped up right now.

  • @bennorland said:

Having to delete apps just to get to the Animoog Z icon is pretty lame for an operating system that is now on version 15.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all the Animoog Z love!

We've noticed your difficulties with importing ZIP files and are in the process of adding proper drag & drop support for ZIP files to Animoog Z. This will allow you to pickup and hold a ZIP file from the Files app, swipe to Animoog Z and drop it to import. It will not be necessary anymore to prune your apps to have Animoog Z show up in the iOS Share panel.

We plan to submit that version for review in a few hours and it will be available as soon as Apple approves it.

    Thanks for your patience!

    <3 your friends at Moog
