Is the 19.99$ on the IAP in Drumcomputer the discounted price or?!

I agree. Even though it's only a 20% (ish) discount, it's an ace plugin. But it's deep; a plugin where you'll really benefit from going through the documentation before diving in. Over time it's become my favourite SB plugin. Everything is so well considered and the sequencer is something I'd love to have as a standalone.

There are two potentially bad things to be aware of. 1.) It's heavy on the CPU, one of the heaviest synth apps on iOS, and 2.) The Finaliser section can crush the life out of otherwise great sounds as it's all too easy to overcook things. But once you get a feel for things this shouldn't be an issue. Plus if you're making use of the AUv3 multi-outs, they bypass the Finaliser section anyway, and then you have a world of other AUv3s to finesse your beats to your heart's content.

If you find the CPU load too high just load DrumComputer as a Midi sequencer and use other drum sounds. Half of DC power is its sequencer.

  • Okay I went over budget but it was worth it

I feel like I should grab either Neon, or multitrack Recorder by 4Pockets…. I know they are fundamentally different apps, but both will basically bring some more audio into my AUM workflow. Is there anyone that has both apps that can speak to which one is better? Ideally I wish there was a hybrid between the two, but if you had to pick one, I’m wondering which one is better? More useful? I’m looking to basically freeze/record long tracks, but also edit them, to free up some CPU? Any thoughts?

I have twisted wave, but nothing Au.

I have both. I think Neon is more flexible and has editing tools that are absent in MTR. The MTR interface feels cramped to me and I don’t find it’s timeline fun to work in. I’m still testing since I’m new to Neon but I think it will work better as a way of bringing “audio tracks” to NS2. I will also be testing in AUM to see how it works there.

I never used MTR. Was gonna use it for audio track support in AUM, but it’s just too ‘weird’ to use.

Neon was worth it but mainly cos I wanted the slice to midi feature. It’s drag and drop features are great too.
Also a bit ‘weird’ to use compared to other wav editors, and has some odd oversights, like you can warp a wav with fairly low quality time stretching, but you can’t just make it a faster tempo the old fashioned way where it pitches up.
Still, out of the 2, I’d get neon.

MTR can only record 16bit. Not sure about neon.

    Purchases so far…

I'd like to get your take on DigiStix 2 whenever you have the chance to dig into it. I know your quest for an AUv3 drum sampler has been a long journey.

So far just what I expected. Velocity layers are important if you want some dynamics and realistic drums, DigiStix 1 had them but they were a nightmare to set up. That’s well implemented in DigiStix2. It’s fast to get a kit going, with drag and drop from files or the new and very recommended Sample Crate.
I had/have made some very elaborate Drambo projects, yes Drambo is a beast, can do it all. But man, it takes time, things like setting up a choke group. You can normalize a file in DigiStix 2, that’s a feature I always miss in Drambo, you can do some editing and very importantly, you can easily decouple the sequencer from the kit. So you can load different kits over the same beat to try out.
Can you do all of this in Drambo?. Sure!. But no one’s gonna convince me that it doesn’t take a lot more time and effort. It’s expected, Drambo is not a drum sampler, it’s a lot more so it’s not as focused or streamilined for that. Did I mention drag and drop samples and no need to “import”??
On the not-so-good… I don’t like the interface, at all. And it’s not only aesthetics, there’s things like having the “close” button in the middle of a popup, the same color as everything else. IMO the UI, layout and looks really spoil the experience unnecessarily.
DigiStix 2 is a big improvement over the previous version.

  • Much appreciated, @tahiche. 👍 I always enjoy reading your reviews.

I'm trying not to hold a grudge against the dev. He said in a YouTube comment for his first DigiStix 2 video that the original, universal DigiStix wouldn't be abandoned, but here we are 5 months later with no updates.

He might have meant no new features but if gets broken by an iOS update he'll fix it?

That's how I would read an older app "not being abandoned".

    Audio Damage snubs iOS users!

Shock! Horror! Exclusive! Desktop users get juicy discounts for Black Friday but AD has decided to snub loyal iOS users. Look what greedy desktop users get...

...while we got a big fat nothing! I'm pig-biting mad! Git yer pitchforks ready!

For working with your audio samples creating ambient textures and soundscapes, Sliver is brutally good. One of my best purchases this Black Friday.

I second that! It's old and not auv3 but I like the results I get playing with it. I haven't seen a mention about it for a while.

In terms of DS2, It’s only been a day but I really like it so far. Plus if you used DS1, you understand DS2 right away.

I like the difference in look from DS1 to DS2, you have the sequencer, and pads on the side in same screen. I also like the “Controller” section better, more room to be precise. You can set delay and reverb by individual step too. Plus you don’t have to scroll through the pads, you tap a pad, and then the controller shows that pads settings ie Velocity, Probability, Pan, etc…

Oh I second that! Also, the same excellent preset system as Rymdigare has, where you can: save import and export presets (single and multi) is on it's way. I have it on the beta and not sure why it's not released. But, it is coming. :)

    Not so much IMO.

Thoughts on Cyclops and as I'm asking directly, your favourite Hard Techno synth on iOS?

  • What are people hoping to snatch for cyber Monday? There’s always at least one dev who waits

  • I think Im done with purchases for this year. Got both FF bundles and Animoog Z.
