Getting weird behaviour with Gauss - loaded as effect The knobs in Gauss will only go to either 0 or 100% when I try adjusting any of them. Anybody else experience this?

No problems like that here. Are you manipulating them on-screen from the Gauss interface, or some other way?

Just onscreen in gauss. Just tried again - loaded new Loopy project and Gauss in effect slot - checked nothing else running in background. Same issue. Any knob or slider I try to adjust automatically moves to either 0 or 100% depending on where I let go on the value.
    ( and restarted iPad too)

Just making sure I understand. If you use your finger in Gauss’ u.I. to turn any knob, the knob only goes to its minimum or maximum value?

Yes- it’s like a ghost is overriding the knob/slider and as soon as I let go you see the knob move up to 0 or 100. If I let go at 49% it’ll go to 0. If I let go at 52% it’ll move up to 100 when I let go

  • @CapnWillie Drum Computer is the worst. Almost unusable on my 10.5.

I have no problems with a Gauss running in loopy. What hardware and OS?

  • Still on ios12.2 - ipad 2018 standard (6th gen).

    9/8 is similar - it’s three triplets.

9/8 can also be counted quickly as 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3 in Middle Eastern music. Blue Rondo a la Turk by Dave Brubeck is a good example of a piece of Western music influenced by that style.

I’m completely in love with this app. No complaints at all. I can see that things I’d like to have now are planned for and just didn’t make launch. Only downside is that it’s clear my iPad Pro 10.5 isn’t enough for what Loopy is capable of allowing me to do. I like working with audio but I’d like to be able to keep more AUv3s running and I’m getting crackles just using Mixbox and DrumComputer while experimenting with different effect apps on vocals. Need more juice.

Only question is how long we are from new IPad Pros dropping and if i can wait until then.

You really REALLY outdid yourself @Michael 🏆. I really love the sequencer and the way you use colors/groups. I’m a midi/routing mess even after decades of pro audio creating and this just makes sense with how my brain works.

Currently using LPX to control Loopy but still use the screen for most things. I wonder if I can get my Maschine Jam and touch faders to control LP…🤔

    Thank you!! 😄

It’s killing me. I don’t remember it being such a glutton. Shame because I love it. I don’t remember any other iOS drum (app) machine with a sequencer and as many drum synth/sound design options. Guess I’ll go quick and dirty with Hammerhead next. Too bad Patterning isn’t AUv3 because it’s a nifty little sample drummer.

I never figured Drambo out or I’d just make my own DramboDrum Computer.

    Gosh.

Drum Computer is better if you change the animation setting and drag the AU window almost off the screen when you’re not interacting with it.

You can offload some Drumcomputer processing by using it in the midi slot of AUM (and others) and have it drive, for example DigiStix

Congrats on a jaw-droppingly amazing release! This will most probably become my number one iOS app. Looking forward to reverse and pitch effects and also m1 mac support!
And I can’t seem to find 7/4 or 13/8 in time signatures. Would be great if these could be added in the near future @Michael!

    Thank you!

7/8 will behave pretty much the same way; all Loopy cares about is the numerator. Ahh you annoying bugger, now I'll have to add 14/8 as well so it's two even rows! 😆 Will you really use 13/8? Really really? If I add it, I want you to record a whole track in 13/8 and publish it for me 😉

It may not be a very common request but I do in fact play songs in 13/8, 11/8, 7/8, 7/4 etc., in eastern folk music that’s not unusual at all, folks even know how to dance to that crazy stuff 🥳
It wouldn’t be possible to jam along to something like that synced up with mid east or Indian Drummer for example without the appropriate settings in Loopy Pro. One example for a great and pretty easy pattern in 13/8: 123 123 123 1234

  • Just checked again in LP and noticed 6/4 is missing too. I think it would definitely make sense to have 6/4 and 7/4 since they are not the same as 6/8 and 7/8. It would make syncing up to other apps much easier. Maybe the best thing would be in fact to give the user the freedom to enter anything in the meter setting, or at least anything that’s common place in non western music? In case this would be hard to implement with the smart detection feature maybe one could reserve that feature for 4/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8?

  • I set up a neat jam with my other half yesterday. I used my guitar into Ableton, and they used a mic into Loopy Pro on the iPad. We synced via Ableton Link, and I also piped the LP master audio into Ableton to record it all.

In LP, I put Other Desert Cities on the master, so we’d have dry loops if needed, but fun delay, live. And I also put a sample slicer pad on one of the donuts, and added buttons to change master clock length (1, 2, or 4 bars).

Result: a couple of really enjoyable hours. My better half often uses complex pro software for work, but is not into playing with tech and apps just for the sake of it. But LP is dead easy to pick up.

Somehow @Michael has made something approachable, fun, and easy to use, and yet super-deep and customizable. The holy grail of software design, pretty much!

+1 (especially for „enter anything in the meter setting“).

Loopy is a magical door to Bliss for creating a jamming montage, or journal if you may, of your past “failed” expressions spanning all of your apps.

    Project Dumpster 🔥:

I went thru my old Gadget, GarageBand, Egoist, GrooveBox, Blocswav, Kaola, Cubasis, NS2, Zenbeats, Drumjam, Thumbjam, AUM, Audioshare, etc folders for all of the projects that never were. Then I exported and loaded them all as wav into donuts and one shots. Then I pitched, sped, chopped and processed them into one cohesive project.

    A most excellent idea!

    VAN MF GLORIOUS!!!!

“This is protected by the red, the black, and the green!”
(Thanks for the X Clan reference. That’s my morning tunes sorted.)

Technically this could be done in BM3, NS2 or several other apps but it won’t be even remotely as fun, efficient or nifty as how you can do it in Loopy. The ability to lay out, organize and customize how you interact with all of the sounds is peerless. Color code the sounds based on color and find sense in the madness.

I wish their was a color picker that allowed us to freely adjust shade and hue of the donuts or even add pictures to the center circle ⭕️ so they looked like records spinning. Probably a shit idea but it looks good in my mind. Oh well.

This is the best feature request I have read yet! Genius.

  • Pretty nice stuff… haven’t scratched the surface yet.. Thanks for making..

must admit I didn’t expect anyone to catch that Xclan reference @gusgranite 😂. Two of the best voices in Hip Hop history no doubt.

Happy New Year everyone. May you all find more peace, happiness, life and time for LP in the coming year.

I bet Iron @Michael Tyson has some knockout updates ready for us in 2022💥🥊

HNY to you Capn. Nice thinking on using the vast fields of previously abandoned etc....

    Describe ‘em.

Loopy is bug free, but many times things come down to misunderstandings about how settings interact.

If you can explain what problems you are running into, we can either help you get up and running or identify things that need attention from Michael if they are bugs.

Definitely get in touch! Most likely it’s not you, it’s me. If it’s hard to describe, make a screen recording and send it over. I’m [email protected]

  • Great to see inspiration like this with LP & LP!

  • @Michael it would be really cool if it was possible to (it's likely it these are already on the roadmap):

    • define channel groups in the mixer, which could be collapsed and expanded, similar to Ableton
    • it would be great to be able to not have all effects appear in the bar at the bottom when mixer is minimized
    • to nice to be able to reorder audio midi tracks anywhere in the mixer view and not have them separated
    • when you have multiple AUs with the same name they show with A, B, etc in the mixer, but when they are in route slots and you press on them it does not show the A, B, etc, it would be great to have this show up there too

of course, maybe some of these things can already be done, and if so sorry for missing them. I know that better midi routing is already on the road map and that will be amazing, along with being able to record MPE midi :-)

I love this kind of mellow jam. In fact, it kinda sounds like something I’d do! 😍

the only thing I can think of though, when I’m watching this video, is:

    1. Has Loopy Pro right there.
    2. Manually finger drums the entire time anyway.

I'd love to see a time-line recording of that session with each of the triggered pads on separate tracks for easy editing :sunglasses:
