Anyone else having trouble running in the effects slot or using the audio patches as I get no sound at all trying these functions?
Ok guys Sussed it with the mix and grain crontrols !
I have some trouble on adjusting the knobs on ipad mini2 . If I go up/down on the y axis where the knob is it works fine. But if I try to move a little left or right to see the value , moving my finger on y axis doesn't work well. The "fine" adjustments work good.
PS. Great synth!
Yep love the sounds you can get, it was really easy to come up with presets
Mmm. I was gonna resist. But now I know there are Red Sky presets I'm very tempted / curious.
I really like a lot of the sound design on your album.
Ditto. That's another tenner out of the college fund. Partly for the recs of folks, but in equal measure because of @RikMaxSpeed fronting up here.
Bu-ti-full sounding synth, just one thing a lot of synths are missing, a compare/recall preset switch, just in case you accidentally select another preset, which I just did, ooooohhhh well...
I guess I needed another synth like I needed (yet another) hole in the head, but this is something special!
Thanks @RikMaxSpeed, deep and versatile app!
Just purchased. Must. Not. Buy. Anything. Else. For a while.
Wow. I just got lost in a few preset patches. Think I'm gonna need to take some time to watch some video tutorials though.
Is it crass to ask if there's any chance of an intelligent random button sometime in the future?
Matt. MATT. Talk me down Matt. Tell me to hang on. Tell me to wait for 1.1. Tell me that just because there's no snow in Texas doesn't make it right for the Baby to have no shoes like this. Tell me Matt.
Really wish it had more bread and butter presets tho. Is there a way to import your own samples?
This looks really cool and the video was very impressive. The AppStore description says iOS 8.1 required though, so I'm out for now.
I'm out on the ipad as well.. Not sure I'd want to run this on an iPhone 4s..?
If people mail presets to [email protected] I can include them in the next update. So we'll have a crowd-sourced collection which is sure to be interesting! I'm already expecting a bunch from some of the people who helped test the app.
Currently user presets are flagged with a little red star, that was a really simple way of doing it, but I may add some other colours/styles for favourites, user, imported etc.
Glad you're liking the app!
@RikMaxSpeed - stars and colors are OK, but I would prefer a separate location/folder for my presets. Please add "User" to go along with Bass, Synth, Audio, etc...
Argghh, I really need a faster iPad to fully explore this app...
I'm almost killing my 1st Gen iPad Mini with my own patch and trying to tweak it to make it even more expressive & playable while also making new patches, gotta love the Mallet/Resonator combination...
I wish there was 'on-screen aftertouch & modulation' so that when moving the finger up/down the key on the screen it could be used as a modulation source (I'd use this to control width or vibrato amount and other things and save one LFO/Modulator for something else) and 'wiggling' the finger in place could be used as 'vibrato' (like when playing stringed instruments).
Another request would be 'custom waves' or 'sequences' to use as modulation source (Yes, I'm thinking 'Chip Tune Arpeggios' among other things, the readout in the 'sequencer' could change depending on the destination, so for pitch it would be semitones making it easier to sequence 'note-offsets') that could be used to for example change the pitch without re-triggering the note & envelopes, the 'sequences' with slow rate could be used to over time transfer the patch into something else or to make rhythmic loops.
And for effects a simple 'decimator/distortion effect' to reduce bit-depth and sample-rate would be awesome too.
I have to say is that this app is more than well worth it's price even if it might end up being more expensive than I first thought, that is if I decide to get a new iPad
@Samu, The thing with iOS is not really 'if I get a new device', but 'when', the nature of the territory we inhabit.
@knewspeak I know, I'm just trying really hard to keep my cool until the follow up to iPad Air 2 is released, the dilemma is that both my iOS devices need an update sooner or later and it's not 'free'
Yep, I understand, only problem is by then, iOS 9, good or bad?, let's hope Apple get better at ironing!
I have honestly no bigger worries about 'iOS9' as we're moving towards full 64-Bit support. The older hardware has it's limitations and I would not be surprised at all if iOS9 requires 64-Bit capable device meaning at least an A7-chip.
There will always be 'legacy issues' and incompatible apps that will probably never get updated and thankfully enough they are almost always replaced by apps that are even better. The iOS updates are also a good way to check up on a developers commitment to his/her/their software.
I have to be perfectly honest in that this Zed Synth is the first app that has made me really seriously consider upgrading my iOS Devices as it's next to impossible to record anything live from Zed-Synth into Cubasis without stuttering, at least my 1st Gen iPad Mini can't handle it. I'll have to try Audreio and play the synth on the iPhone 5 and record wirelessly into Cubasis but i doubt it will be very successful...
A chance to win Zed or Audreio with another app giveaway

Thanks @Samu, you reminded me, Colin at TSTR, posted a video about Audreio, that I haven't checked out yet, as for the future iPad, with the under par sales of iPads, this will probably shake Apple up somewhat, if they introduce a 'Pro' version, I only hope it's not just a bigger screen, but hope they relax the restrictions of iOS a little, giving more 'space' for iOS to mature.
@thesoundtestroom Wonderfull timing
I'll wait until Monday and keep my fingers crossed for a shot at Audreio
Glad you're enjoying the synth, it does use CPU however - especially the Spring Box. Love your suggestions too, lots of these I can add pretty easily. R.
The weirdest thing about being an "iOS Musician" is that I have to think for the vast majority of us who have both a phone, our phones end up being newer than our iPad. The phones are usually tied to a 2-year subsidized contract, so I'm never more than a model or two behind (currently on 5s). Meanwhile, I've had my iPad2 since late 2011, and if it weren't for music, I probably wouldn't really need to replace it yet just to browse the web, check FB/Twitter, or watch streamed content.
Of course, this comparison only works b/c Zed happens to be universal, which so few quality apps are! So I'm considering getting it for iPhone 5s, even though that isn't the most practical device I use to create content.
@RikMaxSpeed, Would it be possible to highlight the modulation control on the left, a medium blue color, when the patch has any modulation parameters assigned. If no parameters have been assigned, it could remain gray. Just a suggestion.
@basantoro I'm thinking this will just be more confusing as there can be multiple modulation sources per parameter and there is already a small coloured 'triangle' (Colour is the same as modulation source) indicating modulation amount on the parameters that are modulated. This is my personal opinion.
Personally I'd love to see an additional 'clear all modulations' button that would save some time when creating new patches (for me the first thing i do is clear all modulations). Also I'd love to see a way to have selected 'oscillators' by-pass the filter and well, more modulation sources is always nice...
Has anybody tried playing a guitar through this Synth? If so how responsive is the audio to midi compared to say Midimorphosis or similar apps. I don't play keyboard but I would love to have access to these sounds via guitar.
Zed does not convert audio to midi...unless I am wrong
