  • Sponsored Instagrammers are a lower life-form than press agents. I hate it all, sorry.

It seems to me that if you're going to spend so much time being so creative for so little money, shit, man, that's why they made the music industry! As long as you're not getting paid what you're worth, wouldn't it be better to churn out songs you can have forever rather than sweat over tutorials for apps that will be obsolete in 18 months?

I know this is apostasy in the new AB forums, so, auf wiedersehen.

Counter-counterpoint, though: Whatever this gamechanger is we're talking about: Instabuy.

  • I heard its Kanye Wests brand. Just a rumour. Apps called Bwest Beatsye.

That's why I've been doing very few deep dives recently, indeed! But that phrase about vids becoming obsolete is not true - my aum vid from 2 years ago, for example, is still getting lots of views. It's just that either youtube doesn't pay enough or most users are watching behind an ad wall. Same old, and probably the reason that almost all old youtubers apart from Doug and Jakob are not making vids on any regular basis any more

Your videos about AUM are very useful to use AUM and AUM is not a hype it is rock solid for years and not a 18 months apps that died as you dis, all of us we use AUM and should use AUM for so many years.

Good useful apps are still here for mainly 5 to 10 years and don’t need much upgrade.

One of the things that affected app reviewers, and app review websites incomes (even I had one once), was the closure of affiliate revenue from the App Store a few years back.

I put up a page for Doug one year, hosting Black Friday deals, which brought in a few bob - not possible now.

Yep…sunk cost fallacy is likely in play here too. It’s really hard to give up something you put a lot of time into that was once viable but no longer is

High-end brand? Coming soon to iOS? Some thoughts: desktop to iOS ported iZotope plug-ins, I know, there’s one app from iZotope available but works best with an external hardware device (made by the dev). I think it could be Waves with the subscription plan. Waves plug-ins are currently only available in Cubasis (and Auria Pro?) and cannot be used (for example) in AUM as an AUv3. It can be plausible. Look at FabFilter. In the past available on iOS but only within Auria DAW. A while later, FabFilter decided to bring every desktop FabFilter plug-in (and recently Twin 3 synth) as AUv3 to iOS. What is the definition of a ‘high end brand’? It can be interpreted freely depending on the users/customers of any particular brand. So, company A is high end for some but not for others and company B is high end for others and not in the eyes of someone else, and so on. As it comes to desktop, there are so many ‘high end’ brands that develop plug-ins. So it’s guessing at the moment what brand it could be. It can also be Apple themselves. Logic on iPad with a subscription plan or something (I hate all those subscription plans!!). Bundled together with two other desktop class applications from the company. I’m afraid it’s wishful thinking..

  • I bet it’s just a shiny new reverb or delay from one of the desktop boys. We just don’t have enough of those. I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a daw or even a groovebox

  • Someone please run the entirety of this thread through textquencer and post it please.

  • I hope it's a compressor.

But he only would've been saying that due to Munster, who was the biggest "Apple is going to make their own television!" shill who has ever lived.

    Could be.

My (poor) memory is that he spoke to people who had "seen it".

But, yeah, Munster is a pain too.

  • Tried and no audio. DSP hit 98%

  • Lets just say Ali Ahmet on Apple Music was not what I was expecting.

The 'entry to the (gladiator) arena' thing is surprisingly on point here. An app arrives to a rapturous crowd, quickly dies a death and is replaced by a new competitor, repeat ad nauseum 😂

    LOL. You nailed it.

I would change it slightly to: a rapturous crowd mindlessly shouting "instabuy".

if we showed this much enthusiasm towards when a forum member shares a song they created, we would all be extremely wealthy.

Im guilty, i know ive glanced over a share thread more than once.

  • So, did we figure out anything about this app?

Maybe we discovered that the real app was the friends we made along the way?

    Must be huge..

  • Really hoping it’s ValhallaDSP and they sell the plugins at same price as desktop. Think it’s time that developers sold their plugins at proper pricing. Maybe then more “big names” would get involved and smaller developers would get paid what they are due.

If it is Valhalla and they sell it for half the cost of the desktop app will you send them the extra 50% you think they should have?
