Now that Logic has a stem splitter built in I'm kind of expecting more things like this, with people making remixes by isolating the vocals.
It's interesting stuff for sure.
As for artefacts, there's an app on desktop that amplifies the sounds that lossy audio compression like mp3s toss away. You can run your mix through it, isolate the stuff that would be removed and use those sounds in you mix in all sorts of creative ways.
Pretty melody- I might call it plaintive, haunting and actually rather beautiful. Great listen! Production is top rate too.

This tune sets a nice somber mood. I enjoyed your choice of sounds. Lots of variety throughout. All of the parts sounded like they were played live, so the tune had a nice authentic feel. When the drums drop out at the end (around 2:12), it sounded like the synth lead went out of time. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.
I didn't listen to the original. This is a great track. The singer's voice has a lot of character so you had a good starting point. Really tasty synth and bass parts. The parts complement the vocals really well. Great grooves. Your parts leave great space for the vocal to ring through.

I don't listen to a lot of music like this but I can appreciate the production quality. The mix was solid. Nice chilled out grooves.

When I heard Dans new song I thought that vocal performance has something unique about it. The way it cracks a little in places, it’s quite beautiful. It put me in mind of what I call ‘sad bangers’ those disco tunes that connect lyrically. The timing of the vocal, that little bit preceding the 1st beat had to be respected, it’s that which gives it character. But it’s kind of hard to work with, especially speeded up. So I’m really happy with the outcome.
Can I also say a big thanks for the nice comments, I have been feeling a bit of imposter syndrome recently.
Nice! The OP-1 is really a nice piece of gear. The middle part is super cool and interesting, catchy piano melody. The drums are a bit too loud for my taste.
Immediately I know where I am when I’m listening to that. I’m hopefully on a rooftop terrace at a mysterious last minute location, late June, suns out, nice glass of pims or beer in a green bottle. (No really, that’s a thing I’m doing if I get a sitter sorted 🤣)
The synth element that comes in at about 17 seconds I thought was too busy and I’d maybe trim the second half of the bar or shorten the notes by a very small fraction, but on third listen, I’m wrong, it works fine.
I’m LOVING nearly every thing about that first breakdown. The transition into it is class, the vocal and that filtering glitchyness, just great. The drop doesn’t land so well to my ears. Either a silence, a high hat run, let the wash run on and filter it some, to build tension a little more. There’s a high hat that’s filtered out and comes back ever so slightly at 1:06 plays twice then drops out for third time that might be tricking my ear also. It just feels like it comes in a little sunddenly and or without landing. That could be cos my phone isn’t the sound system this is meant to be heard on. So you are absolutely right to tell me where to go.
The second drop works so much better, possibly because the filtering is different. The vocal works better at the end and there is actually a wee high hat hit at 2.32 that signposts the transition. The vocal on the other side ties in and makes the whole thing for me.
About there’s some fx at 1:21 1:24. I love the double thing, but stylistically I’d only have that synth chord land the second time, no drums coming after, just to emphasis that chord resolution. Might work, might not but I say that because, those synth chords are STYlISH AFC!! I ❤️ them. (There more I listen, the more I would just leave it 🤣)
Track is really balanced, really nice sound choices. Love the filtering at the end.

Not my genre, but I liked it. The synth patch at around 1:30 is great, and I liked how you built the whole track around the vocals, they really shine. A nice club remix!

It's an electronic/ambient track, I experimented a bit with vocal choirs and new apps (Nerd Synth). God I love distortion effects so much
Also Patterning 3 is a really great piece of software.

I think it might be DRC, there maybe some baby audio pitch free app, very small amount. but it’s deffo run through Bram perforator. I really gel with that app.

I try to make paper notes about what I did but often I forget and then I'll need to "read" the piano roll and trying to figure out how the heck I made that part. But I got burned too often with patches so at least I'm saving them often :-)
I really like this, the backwards-sounding patch is excellent, and the keys melody is great. The whole arrangement is really interesting and flows well, and the vibe is beautifully atmospheric. Great job.
Yeah the drum sounds and the sequence are from Patterning, and the reverb effect is Spacefields.
Also I agree on your last post about the engagement, same goes for @matdun25848834 I'd say.
If I see people just posting a song and then not reciprocating with feedback, I just ignore them. If people aren't willing to take the time to listen and comment on all the work that's posted in this thread, they're not worth engaging with.
Some people wait until the end of the month to respond. I'd personally prefer it if they joined in more as things are posted rather than post all the feedback in one lump as it encourages a bit more discourse. But at least they do listen eventually.
I personally find it a bit strange when people come back to comment on their own feedback, yet still can't take the time to comment on anybody else's music. It's not like this is the only place to post, especially if you don't like/can't be bothered commenting on other people's music :-)
I kind of dip in and out. In all honesty I try and listen to everything properly.
When I listen to things, i like to take my time with it. I’m sure a lot of you will know what I mean when I say I hear the parts individually or the whole thing when I want to. I didn’t know for a long time a lot of folks can’t. I like to rewind bits and work out what I like and don’t like. I listen on different systems when I can. I enjoy hearing new music, your music.
So when I can’t do that, I’m not going to.
Unfortunately, when it comes to my own stuff, I struggle to unfocus. I get distracted by parts and struggle to take a step back and hear the whole thing. That’s what I need you guys for.
I’m often unsure about commenting. So I get why others wouldn’t. I’m not a great mixer, I am not the most technically gifted producer, i spend a ridiculous amount of time doing things my daw would do instantly if I just learned how. So why would anything I say matter?
But I do anyway, because by doing so, it might help. I try and relate things to what I know, but sometimes it’s not something I’m as familiar with. In which case I’d feel even weirder.
So with that in mind @unlink I really liked the track. Especially, the harmonic, resonance, drone tones that play against the piano. Wasn’t expecting the percussion and it works so well. I’m going to be playing your track tomorrow before I get my blood pressure checked 👍

The remix works really well, with the music perfectly complementing the vocal, it's a nice blend of indie and electronic vibes. The artifacts on the voice just add to the feel, in a good way.
The percussion is great, as is the bass, and the arrangement is well thought out.
I’m all for reminding folks about the norms in this thread. The typical song poster in music forums is selfish IMO. In my experience, the ratio of songs reviewed to returned favors is at least 10 to 1. Not on this thread. I do appreciate your zen attitude @richardyot 🙂

Very atmospheric and haunting. The melody is really nice and the atmospheric textures weave in and out nicely. I like the drums too, it would have been easy to overdo it but you’ve kept it subtle.

Yes the whole point here is to give mutual feedback, that's really the purpose of the club, so that we've not just posting into the void.
I have in the past been more pushy and angry with contributors who don't play by the rules, but the SOTMC has been going almost 10 years now and I've come to accept that there will always be a few who don't play nice.
Very nice, voice goes perfectly with the song and I really like the synth/guitar patch on the intro and mid break. Are the combos of built in iPad sounds/external ? Some really interesting chord changes as well
