Thank you for the kind words Jim !
Great songwriting, performance and production as usual. All the tools added in the latest Logic update are really fantastic. You put those in great use!
As usual, you shared an amazing peaceful piece, David. I think the English Horn, Flute and voice interact especially well on this track. I was literally hugging an old oak tree to the sound of a river while contemplating a Komorebi ! It felt good!
Daniele! I already told you elsewhere all the good I think about your latest album. This track is a great opening title for the whole album. Oppenheimer, what a complex character and what a decisive role he played. You gave his speech even more depth. Great job!
Nice production as usual. You're starting to get a good hold of those vocal synth they start to sound very realistic, though I would say your singer has impressive lung capacity 😉
My only critic, (and it is something I noticed with your previous tracks with vocals shared on the SOTMC): after listening to your track, I didn't have any vocal melody sticking in my head, no memorable hook which is usually important when producing a pop song as you tagged it in SoundCloud. If you're aiming at experimental pop, don't change anything, we don't need hook. But if you want to make memorable pop tracks, in the mainstream sense, maybe your next goal would be to find hooks. This implies repetitive short sentences and melodies instead of long lyrical flows.
Great work. You developed lots of interesting dynamic variation all along the piece. To me it is an advanced draft for an upcoming track. Now you need vocals, and you need to get away from Amin. My ears especially want this to move towards F.
Feeling like I am hearing an old hidden Chemikal Underground mixtape from 96. Mogwai and Arab Strap popped in my mind!
I personally would like this to develop into some Mogwai pure sonic Mayhem after the spoken words drops. Great track, keep crafting it!
As usual, very complex composition, pristine production. You're very good at taking tracks to unexpected grounds, best exemple is how you get away around 2:00. This kind of break sounds very much like from what I heard from you so far. You've got a composition signature which is not an easy thing to achieve. Chapeau bas.
Your mentioned else where that you don't understand or hear the drums. Keep working the way your do, those drums sound great in your hands.
Not going to comment on that one for obvious reasons. Just thank you, @klownshed, for trusting me and letting add a few things here and there.
Not an easy listen for sure!
I also had this thought at one time. I’ve been after a Dan Electro fab tone for a long time 🤣
Everyone has kind of confirmed my own thoughts with this. Appreciate you all, thank you!
Thank you! It was a bit tricky to mix I guess, yes! There’s a lot going on with layers of vocals and guitars etc but I think I got a reasonable balance maybe…
Thank you for listening :-)
Thanks for listening! Sorry if it’s a bit too grim!!
Thank you Richard. Jankun's vocals are pretty amazing, especially considering he recorded them directly into the iPad's microphone(s)!
Jankun's vocals are indeed amazing, he's one of the best singer's I've ever known, but it's the combination of your music and his voice that makes this special. Beautiful synergy.
Thank you
Thank you too. I'm very happy that you felt inspired enough to want to add vocals and guitars to my tune :-) I am very proud of our song :-)
I hope we can collaborate again soon :-)
I think that's one of my favourite comments! I've changed the title of the thread for this song! I hope you don't mind :-)
Ha ha of course that’s fine 😂
@jo92346 wow fantastic track initially based on a repetitive pattern but never boring. A lot is happening then, some tempo changes I think. A kind of halloween feels.
@klownshed Very nice. I can hear Radiohead influence everywhere in this track. Voice is pro level. Some beautiful transitions and overall well balanced and mastered song. Makes me want to hear more of this kind
Really nice song, Richard. Your mixing and production are always well done and you have a good ear for this. These are some of your best lyrics as well that flow really well.
This is great! I like how you have a running theme rhythmically and then layer different sounds over the top. great vibe.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, much appreciated 🙏
@richardyot
Love the evocative soundscape at the beginning. It transitions well to a more traditional song that retains glimmers of the sweeping feel of the opening. Very strong guitar about two thirds of the way in. Then it opens up further to become even more epic in scope. A great collaboration.
@deadpoetlive
The background voices are aptly illustrated by Wire’s recording reels. Sense of grandeur and historic import. The dripping water sound gives it a firm sense of time passing. Love the singing voice that peeks in around the three minute mark. As you suggest, it’s a bit rough in places, but on the whole, it’s wonderfully evocative.
@BillS
This one has a strong opening with the solo piano. Once again, you add thoughtful and incisive lyrics that paint a vivid picture of an all-too-human situation. The drums and bass are particularly good here.
@cuscolima
Catchy tune with a solid beat and strong vocals. The subtle backbeat and percussive fills are especially satisfying. The sometimes-overpowering guitar seems to hark back to the provocative title of the song.
@yellow_eyez
I love the synth and guitar sounds on this one. Has a terrific 70s rock feel. It’s so good, I genuinely felt let down when it ended. It could easily be twice as long.
@squeals
Intriguing opening with the spoken words. Really like the instrumentals that are persistent, but not overly intruding. It has an overall restrained and delicate quality that’s quite relaxing and meditative.
@jo92346
Wonderfully orchestrated strings with hints of greater things to come. Progresses and opens up to grander and darker vistas. Really like the tonal changes, as the green pastures are presumably being lost. Nicely atmospheric as if the scene itself is attempting to self-correct (as in, somehow recover the lost green pastures).
@klownshed
Terrifically atmospheric with vocals that are almost visceral in their impact. It all blends into a powerful mix that evolves into surprising directions with intricate sub-journeys. Amazingly dense near the end without losing its bearings or focus. A great collaboration.
I’m know I’m late but for what it’s worth…
Richard and @JanKun , superb piece of music. Everything sounds better with some birdsong 🐦⬛
@deadpoetlive , lovely relaxing creation. I was well into my 60s when I discovered all things iPad. Exciting isn’t it !
@unlink , powerful words made all the more poignant by the music 👌
@cuscolima , liked the overall song and instrumentation and don’t mind the voice at all but couldn’t tell what she (it?) was saying most of the time 🤨
@yellow_eyez , enjoyed it but like others said I would have enjoyed some vocals or a nice solo…
@squeals , mesmerising track , a gentle solo would have worked nicely in the second half on this as well I thought.
Think I’ve previously commented on the other tracks but apologies if I have missed anybody… now to try and catch up with July 😊
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, it's much appreciated, especially considering how much time it must have taken ♥
Thank you @GeoTony, I will try next time to make it more audible
