  • Confirmed @ channel 11 stuff going infinitely berserk.

  • Ok, indeed I only checked chromatic channels. Channel 11 commands (preset changing and randomization) indeed makes it crazy and crashes at the end. It looks like it starts infinite scrolling across presets. Bug definitely :)

And thank you, I didn’t notice these features of a channel 11. And it actually would kinda solve the lack of “patterns” for me - I can justify create a folder with the whole progression and switch through it via midi. Of course when the bug is fixed ;)

Thanks for checking and confirming that channel 11 behaviour is a bug @vlaoladis.

Yeah, those channel 10 and 11 functions are a real hidden bonus for functionality aren’t they. Cheers.

  • Audio Evolution Mobile Studio has just had an update which gives you an option in the settings to have a MIDI channel selector on the piano roll editor screen.

This means you can place notes for, say, MIDI channel 2, channel 5 and channel 7 (or any other combination) all on the same piano roll. Notes for different channels are differentiated by colour.

As you can imagine, this works amazingly well with Battalion and its MIDI input setup so i thought it worth mentioning on this thread. Cheers.

  • OK, I am so hyped for this app to come out that I check for this thread about 3 times a day. I have a problem.

Please tell me if I am way off. There may not be a release date, but someone might know if it is definitely NOT coming out in a week, a month...

I'm like a dog drooling while I wait for my bowl. I hear the can opener, the bowl moving about on the counter, and just keep drooling. Should I go take a nap? Go for a walkies? Gnaw on a chew toy?

I should have joined the beta.

Anyone got a pic of the app icon? I could just drool over that for a bit.

    Tuesday!

    No way! Awesome!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info... I really appreciate it. Time to go for walkies then!

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Worked for me. HAZAA!! congrats!

  • Congratulations 🤟
I’ve been waiting for this day.

Quick question: Is there any difference between this new iPad version and the Mac version?
    (Sorry if it obvious)

No it's 1:1 with Desktop. I want to emphasize that at the top of the iOS app store page. Thanks for asking.

  • When testing with TestFlight, I was able to install it on IPad and IPhone. I see now that it is sold IPad only. What is the reason for that ? It is not very comfortable on IPhone but still usable in my opinion…

  • Congrats on the release!

Great thank you for quick response.
Wish you great success ( and sale)

its unusable on a iphone12 without zoom nightmare as its not fullscreen.

maybe making it fullscreen is to expansive.

We've decided that we're going to hold off on releasing the iPhone version for now. I originally wanted to include it as kind of a "free bonus" where the iPad version is the real version, and the iPhone version is around for when you want to open projects on the go, but it really is just a pain to use. If the iPad version ends up doing well, it would be worth it for us to create a separate iPhone-optimized interface.

  • Congratulations on the release @trickyflemming @amusesmile. Wonderful app but after eagerly awaiting its release I must admit my heart sank when I saw the price. You’re incredibly generous intro pricing for your other plugins had lead me to, it now appears, unrealistic expectations!

I guess, same as Patterning 3, I’ll admire it from a distance and hope for a deep sale in the future.

(Comment above purely meant as feedback, not as a complaint - I realize of course that you have to make a living from your efforts and will have priced accordingly.)

  • I hope to see an iPhone version soon, I made tracks with it on an SE 3. I won’t delete the last beta, that’s for sure.

The intro price is the same as I paid for the Battalion desktop plugin (desktop full price is much higher than iOS though) and it is a 1:1 port of the desktop app so the pricing seems fair to me.

Just to be clear…again…i’m not trying to suggest that the price isn’t fair - it’s just more than I can justify spending on a drum machine app unfortunately, brilliant though it is.

Pricing an app at £30+ is a gamble in terms of overall sales/profit as far as I can see - more money from each sale but if you get considerably fewer sales it’s probably not worth it. And you paint yourself into a corner because if you don’t get as many sales as hoped for (once the release hype dies down) you risk really pissing off the early adopters if you then drop the price to attract more customers.

I really love Unfiltered Audio apps - just bought Triad on offer for desktop a couple of weeks ago - and I hope the pricing works out for them. I can’t justify paying that much myself though, even though I’d thoroughly planned to buy it - that’s the gamble with pricing an app at the £30+ mark and the feedback I wanted to pass on to @trickyflemming and @amusesmile.

Patterning 3 was on a rare sale recently for £24.99, so I grabbed it, and very pleased I did so. Highly recommended.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat - I was hoping £19.99 intro then £29.99 full price. Patterning 3 was in the middle of those prices, but the recent update with Mac compatability swung it for me.

Not saying it's not worth it, but £29.99 for iOS only is a bit too rich for my budget at the moment.

Battalion is far from just a drum machine app.
I’m an early adopter and I find silly that I should be pissed because the app will go on sale at some point. I’m paying the price I consider fair to support the developers at this time, and I’m getting a good deal for the work involved IMHO.

  • I often say: if it was hardware, with a dedicated touch screen, these devices would cost 1 to 2 grand, easy.
Samplr as hardware? Patterning 3 as hardware? About 2 grand a piece. I might be adding Battalion to this list. It looks delicious. 30 bucks is nothing compared to hardware, IMO.

  • £30 seems entirely fair to me for what they have packed into this app. It's an absolute beast!

Comparing to hardware prices is madness though, lol. There are completely different costs in making hardware. That said, I agree that 40 quid regular price is fair for an app like this. People forget how niche the iOS music scene is. Previously, apps were really priced too low.

I was just suggesting that early adopters sometimes get pissed off with reductions in prices based on comments I’ve seen on this very forum - whether it’s silly or not, it does happen.

(Edit. I completely agree that it’s far from just a drum machine by the way, that was just the easiest way to describe it broadly. With all of its brilliance though, I just can’t justify spending that much on it, that’s all.)

Fair or not, only the developers will ever know whether this pricing strategy works out for them once the new release rush dies down.

I know how difficult setting pricing is though - they debatably went too low with their other plugins at release and, I think, they’ve gone too high with this one.

When it comes to apps, I have to think carefully about what other apps I already have and whether I’m duplicating functionality simply for the hit of getting a new ( however brilliant) toy/tool. The higher the price the more likely I am to be honest with myself!

This is definitely a shame. Please @trickyflemming consider bringing the iPhone version back. The ‘open projects on the go’ is exactly why I try and get universal apps.

I mean an iPhone optimised interface would be great, but not as a separate app.
