Im on the verge of taking my iPhone up to 26-26.1? Any last words, lol? But seriously is everything generally working well, especially music app wise.

The phone is generally a better experience with iOS 26.

Aside from the liquid glass UI which initially I didn't hate but now grates on me more every day, the phone is nicer to work with on 26. I haven't done much app testing on it though as I rarely feel like making music on it.

So far everything is rock solid including battery life in my old 12 max pro. I think I'm staying out for a while on my iPad though. 26.1 is pretty much solid except for Auria Pro but at least it still works great in my old 5th Gen iPad. That's gonna be the Auria Pro hardware unit now as it only reached IOS 16.xxx but it's solid.

I might do the same for the 12.9 M1. I think updates will only make it slower and possibly break things. I don't do banking or other stuff like that on it so it'll be better not to fix if it ain't broke right?

Thanks All, just wanted to check in since I'm about to update.

Cant wait to get a new iPad, fingers crossed its before the new year!

I'm still using an iPad Pro with the 1/8" headphone jack. ;)

  • iPad 10th gen.

I’ve recently updated to 26 and last night to 26.1. I’ve been using ipad since 2014 and this must be the absolute worst iOS since then. It feels like I’m on a cheap Android tablet. Even the flagship browser, safari turns all white when loading pages (in dark mode).

The 26.1 killed all my storage so I’m scratching my head what to delete, even if there was at least 2Gb free before the update.

    Files app crashing etc etc.

Any chance it can be rolled back to 18? I’m guessing the answer is no?

My music iPad’s on 18. That’s all that matters 💪 but releasing iffy os’ sure doesn’t do Apple any favours.

  • Just bought a M5. I miss my Jack.

  • Probably just unlucky but updating to iOS 26 broke the front-facing camera on my iPhone 12, it's gone all purple now and no way to fix it that I can find.

Ugh, that sucks. It seems it might actually be possible to revert from the newest iOS version to the previous, but only in a very short period right after the new version has come out:

It wouldn't be possible for you anyway because iOS 26 was already released more than a few weeks ago. Something to be aware of for the future though, might be useful to some folk, cheers

  • So I just recently purchased a new 13" iPad Pro with the M5 processor, and I don't know if it's the hardware, or the OS (I'm on iPad OS 26.1), or the apps I'm using, but I'm not enjoying this experience at all. The first thing I've noticed is that when running in windowed mode, the drop-down menu bar behaves very inconsistently from app to app. It works just fine with first party Apple apps, as I would expect It to, but it's not reliable at all with a lot of my music apps. If the app is running in full screen, then swiping down from the top simply brings down the notification center...If I want to get the menu bar to drop down with the red, green and yellow "traffic lights", I have to drag from the corner of the window to get the app out of full screen before I'm actually able to access the drop-down menu. AUM is one of the apps that's behaving this way. If I have the AUM window enlarged to fill the screen, then no amount of swiping down from the top will bring down the drop-down menu. I have to drag the lower left corner of the app to resize the window, and then I can get the menu bar to appear. As I said, this behavior isn't consistent across all apps. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Another thing I've noticed is that somewhere between the new hardware and the new OS, all of the Moog Synths on iPad are pretty noticeably broken. If I open up Model-D, the GUI is completely screwed up and the synth is completely unusable. If I open up Model-15 (specifically in landscape mode), the keyboard is all messed up, with lots of black space, missing labels, and a number of other graphical glitches. And as mentioned before, as far as Mariana is concerned, the preset sharing functionality has become completely unusable. Trying to share a preset results in the share window opening up at the very bottom left of the screen, with only the very top of the window even being visible. Anigmoog Z seems to be the only Moog synth app that's running ok.

So is anyone else here experiencing any of the same issues, either with the inconsistent menu bar functionality or with the Moog apps being completely botched? I really hope all of this is either a result of apps not being updated to work properly with iOS 26, or that it's just bugs that need to be ironed out with the OS itself, because so far, this has been the single most frustrating experience I've had using an iPad, and I've been using iPads regularly every since het iPad 3 with Retina display was released.

  • I wish they’d told us just how beta/experimental ios26 would be. 🤣

The windows management on the 11” desktop is just ridiculous.

Whenever I load a safari page in dark mode I get a 2s minimum blank, white loading page.

    Nothing feels intuitive anymore.

I can reproduce the preset export bug in Mariana, but other than that I don’t have the same experience with Moog apps; Model D and Model 15 are both fine on my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro.

I agree that there are a lot of apps that fight with the windowing system, and I don’t think it helps that Apple keeps making large breaking changes in the UI. It’s reflective, I think, of the current era of Apple, where they launch half-baked ideas and use the paying public as beta testers.

  • The issue with Mariana has been reported to and acknowledged by Moog. It’s up to them now. Contact them if you want to pile on. 😎✌🏼

  • I did contact Moog about the GUI issues with the Model-D and Model-15. They replied earlier this morning to let me know they’re aware of the problem in both synths and they are working on a fix. The problem seems to be exclusive to the newest M5 iPad Pros, which is why not everyone is experiencing it. I was doing some research into the problem before I emailed Moog about it, and I came across a number of posts from people who had just bought whatever was the most recent iteration of the iPad Pro at the time, and they were experiencing the same graphical issues with the same synths. So it seems that every time Apple releases a new iPad with an update processor, there’s a good chance that it will result in weird graphical issues with the Moog apps. I don’t have the technical knowledge to even speculate as to why this is, but I wish more of the app developers would take the time to ensure their apps will continue to function properly if they know that a new model of iPad/iPhone or a new version of iOS is on its way. Especially when you’re dealing with a large, well known developer like Moog. But I also know that Moog is under the inMusic umbrella now, and based on the problems I’ve been having with software from other companies that are now part of inMusic (I.e., AIR Music Tech), I should expect glitches. Any company that ends up as part of the inMusic “family” seems to start going downhill real fast.

Yeah on Reddit today I saw a post from someone who purchased one of the new Geddy Lee Moog synths and they said build quality is horrible and customer support nonexistent, so if they’ve responded at all then count yourself lucky I guess.

That’s extremely weird that their apps in particular glitch out on new SoCs.

Add me to that list as well. Zero issues here on my 12.9” M1 iPad Pro with iPadOS 26.1.

Of course I keep the “windowed apps” feature turned off most of the time though. I use a switch in control center to turn it on/off if and when I happen to need windowed apps. (Long press this switch to select Windowed Apps, Stage Manager, or OFF for Full screen iPad apps)

  • Yes the windowing feature though it seemed promising initially, and great in theory, is actually a total mess. Apple are really going downhill imo.

  • iOS26 is really starting to show how useful a physical button was. All this edge of the screen swiping stuff ever since removing the Home Button is very imprecise and makes me feel l’m fighting my OS half the time. I think precision as a whole has suffered - I was typing on my old iPhone X recently and it’s wild how much better that keyboard feels. Is Apple gimping the keyboard to force type to text more or something?

I still think 26 makes the Magic Keyboard feel a lot better to use. I guess I haven’t minded the aesthetic changes much since I really haven’t noticed them since updating my phone to 26. I think a decent solution to the awkward windowing might be to double down on making windowed mode more distinct from tablet mode.

Interestingly, there's an action in the Shortcuts app to turn stage manager off which you can add to an automation or desktop widget, and that will disable "Windowed Apps" mode, but if you reverse the action it goes into Stage Manager mode, not the last-used windowing mode. It's all become very confusing. There is something liberating about switching to full-screen mode for a while though.

Why is that? Do you just like the extra screen real estate? The swipe gestures work on devices with a home button as well so you don’t really lose anything functionality wise.

iOS26 is really starting to show how useful a physical button was.

The extra screen area is nice. After getting accustomed to various swipe gestures going back to a device with a home button just seemed so awkward.

  • I found the iPad mini 5 with the original Apple Pencil a great sweet spot. The button and headphone jack make it very tactile but I can still use the swipe feature that feel most natural.
