  • Any idea how this compares with the free BlueArp VST? The interface looks similar.

For arp VST/AU’s, you can’t beat Rhythmizer Fusion and Groove Shaper, and even the two used together.

I’ve no idea unfortunately. I do have groove shaper and I like it. :)

Edit: I ended up passing on it, I already have W.a. Prod’s Instachord and venomode’s phrasebox, so I am covered. If I didn’t have those, I might have grabbed this.

510k’s sequencers might justify some spending though.

  • I’ve grabbed Synth V and some voices, since they’re doing BF. A great deal for having a singer on hand :) Depending on where you live, it might be cheaper buying it from DLsite, just a bit more hassle.
Beware the rabbithole of picking which singer to use. Just grab Solaria, if you’re in doubt and want only one.

  • I know it’s not music related but seems like it might be up people’s alley around here: Crocotile 3D is on sale 20% off at $23.99. Fun way to make low poly 3D environments that could be fun for album art or similar projects.

I’ll throw card creator out as well cuz I’m eyeing it on sale.

I've been a big fan of FAC plugins for years and I doubt I'm the only one who uses FAC Chorus on desktop.

But a huge number of my projects were negatively affected by Fred Anton Corvest's decision to rename his FAC Chorus app (now called "FAC Chorus OLD" in Logic Pro), breaking function with every Logic Pro and GarageBand file I have using it. I am not happy.

If one sells an app for desktop, keep the name the same so you don't screw up your customer's work. If you're going to sell a new app with a similar name, just keep the name and call it "2.0" or "Pro".

  • Plugmon.jp has a 10 year sale on GUI and presets. Famous for among other things the MONA skin for Diva. Everything is $10!!

In the plus column, the new FAC Chorus (which is universal and works on desktop, iOS, iPadOS and Apple Vision) is free for current users as an update through the App Store. I'm still dealing with the after-effects of using FAC Chorus for many years on hundreds of projects, which is gigantic pain point.

Perhaps it was a marketing idea (I'll call it OLD, so people know there is a newer one) gone very wrong, for the exact reason you described.

And the fact that the upgrade is free makes it even more painful in a way, because the dev doesn't even make money by breaking your projects 🤷

  • Dev posted this on Twitter btw, seems it would be possible to avoid disaster, but super risky nevertheless, as hardly anyone gets iOS news on Twitter.

Also: ‘Following the last communication about the FAC Chorus export user presets (previous version) : you can import your ZIP file by long-pressing the preset bar in the new version and selecting “Import User Preset.”’

Thanks for this, but I put this 100% on Fred for not reaching out to users better. If he had made an announcement here or on his web site it would've been really helpful.

Now that I have the new FAC Chorus downloaded, it has replaced the old one, but only on project I had not opened until today. I replaced FAC Chorus on dozens and dozens of existing projects with other solutions. I had checked his web site just a few days ago and there was no big warning for users there. Talk about a gigantic waste of time.

Now that the new version is available, it has 'self-replaced' the old version on projects I had not opened until after this new version was downloaded. Fred made a big error by not communicating through more online channels (this place being a big one) about what he was planning to do.

Exactly. Putting notice here and on his own web site would've given the information more "permanence". X (Twitter) shows things to users temporarily as part of a continuous stream of information.

True. In addition, a lot of people are not going anywhere near twitter anymore (for reasons nothing to do with this thread), which the dev is very likely aware of.

In fairness, being a one-man shop must be really hard work. Respect. But this community is here to consult, for free, so this debacle could have been easily avoided.

I appreciate the difficulties of running a small business, so that point is well taken. I've spent enough time and energy on this already (and complaining about it won't change anything on my side) so I hope Fred does not repeat this mistake next time for my sake and for everyone's sake.
