I've got a reply from Klevgrand regarding continued support for version 1. The answer is: "of course we will continue to support OneShot". She also asked for the link to this thread, if they come here it'll be a first I think.

You must have a hot line to them, I’ve still not heard back almost a week later…

That's odd. Did you use the support ticket option? I did.
I also wrote in Swedish but that shouldn't matter. 😃

I used the message page on the website. Got the ‘message received’ confirmation email with ticket number on the12th. Just checked spam folder but nothing missed in there. No doubt they’ll get round to replying eventually. Cheers.

Just had a go with the Motion Controller app from ancient iPhone 7+ on iOS 15 over Bluetooth - works well to Oneshot 2 (demo) on Ableton MacBook, no obvious latency.

For whatever reason, my phone wouldn’t pair with my Mac following the method recommended within the Klevgrand app (advertising the Mac’s bluetooth from audio midi setup), but was fine using what for me is the more conventional method of advertising the phone (using midimttr app).

While I’m here, I would like to recommend the free Korg Bluetooth midi connect app for Mac (in Mac App Store), it sits innocuously in your menu bar and avoids having to faff around in audio midi setup when making Bluetooth midi connections. I have it installed on both intel and silicon macs.

  • I’m still waiting for them to fix this multi out bug. So frustrating.

Yes, but only after I chased them up about it - my enquiry must have got lost I guess.

As @Pxlhg said, they confirmed that version one would be maintained for the foreseeable future.

Regarding the upgrade path/discount method, they said ‘if we release version two on iOS I’m sure we would try to find the best way for a nice upgrade path for previous owners of OneShot’. In other words, they didn’t say much at all, perhaps understandably.

Same here, I had to chase them up several times to get a response, before they finally confirmed v1 would still get support. Apparently I should have known this, as I'd 'misinterpreted things', despite it seems, it not being confirmed in their sales or new software promos.

My psychic powers failed, yet again...

  • Multiout still not working on Logic 3, it’s been a while now.

Since they've ignored my emails and support requests, and promoted the sale of a product that was known to be discontinued literally weeks later, it's fair to say I won't be buying any of their products ever again.

    Fool me once...

    Which product was discontinued ?

OneShot, literally weeks after I bought it after their promo sale.

    It's fine. Done. Lesson learned.

Did they say they won't do maintenance updates for it? Would be good to get a confirmation

They didn't say anything - that's the issue, and they've been blocking comments on YouTube.

A bit more effort on customer relations wouldn't go amiss.

He's just bitter which I can understand but what he says is total bullshit. V1 is not discontinued or deprecated.

Would you care to show me where the original desktop version of OneShot is available on their website?

    https://klevgrand.com/

So I'm wrong about it being available, they don't want to sell both, nothing weird about that. Hey, I don't want to argue so I wrote to them and asked straight up about support and maintenance for V1. Let's hear what they say before continuing. Alright with you?

I honestly couldn't care less what they do now, as far as I'm concerned I've moved on, but I think I deserve an apology for your 'bitter' and 'bullshit' comments. I've given you a lot of friendly feedback on here, I don't appreciate the pile-on.

Yeah well: their horrible crime is: they released a new app over an older and reading you totally shit over them for it, yeah I got annoyed because this is not IK or any other gang of crooks but in my experience a couple of good guys. I might be wrong, time will tell.

I'm sorry for my bitter comment.

imo having critique over something that is essentially the only option for multi-sampled drums on the platform is not "shitting on them" it's simply asking to be treated better when you are treated better in many different industries and by other developers in the same exact market. Klevgrand is a MARKET LEADER that continually provides sub-standard software and support to us. Why do people ride for them so hard?

We have very little standards here on ios/ipad, lots of you just eat slop and are happy that someone gave us anything at all, that's not how it should be. you should demand better for your money. That includes support for things you've already bought and are not maintained at all.

An ios/ipad app has different needs than a desktop program, an ios app needs different optimizations and care taken to it. It should take into account the touch screen, the UI should ACTUALLY scale and you should be able to use your own sounds without rampant bugs if marketed as such. None of this is given to us. Stop trying to defend bad cash grab apps when we are continually fed poorly-made ports of desktop programs.

You're pushing away a member of your community in attempt to stand up for a company that gives no fucks about you or how you make music lol...looking like the men's Olympic hockey team eating Big Macs for Daddy Warbucks...

You say Klevgrand is like Trump because I don't agree with some grumpy comments. That's pretty low (a little bit funny but not much) I don't agree with you either but I'm happy to leave it at that, Ayatolla Glove. Klevgrand has been perfect to me and if you think I'm just an asslicker to iOS devs you can ask B.A regarding Transit which I got them to fix after a long and (to some) loud boycott.

Baby Audio isn’t always great in communication.
They promised me a free app code but I never got it.

Great, thank you for clarifying that they'll continue support for v1, and that's exactly the answer I would have expected from a reputable dev 👍

That's exactly the answer I would have expected from a ‘reputable dev’ when the replacement version was released, and not a week later after being repeatedly asked by its customers.

    True

It’ll be interesting to see how they handle the iOS v2 - if it’s not part of a bundle, then the current version will no longer exist, and so not receive bug fixes.

It'll have to be a separate app, like with transit 1 and 2. They'll probably do a bundle, and that's where the problems will start, because many people won't end up getting a discount and will feel less incentive to upgrade. As much as I might grumble about various aspects of Baby Audio and their apps, I do think they found as good a solution to this problem as they could (though tbh, within such a short space of time, I'd prefer it was just a free update), and other devs would do well to pay attention to how they handled things.

What do you mean on the bundle bit? Why wouldn’t people end up getting the discount? The “issue” I’d see with bundling 1 and 2 is the redundancy. Kind of similar to Fugue and Fugue Rubato - if you have Rubato there’s not much need for the original. Given, if you own the OG Fugue the upgrade as a bundle would be worth it.

Speaking of bundles, I wish there was a discount for those who’ve bought the sound pack bundle. I have OneShot on iPad + the expansions, but not OneShot desktop. I’d probably get 2 on desktop if it were discounted in the bundle but I’ll probably end up with OneShot 2 on mobile only again.

Because many people here, the hard-core app collectors, buy apps on intro price, the way bundles work, the bundle is rarely actually cheap enough to give them any discount. Bundles often only end up giving a discount to people who bought the original app at full price.

And then the problem with version 2's, or 3's is that, they're not a novelty any more. And in many cases a user might have realized that they no longer use v1 as much as they thought they would. Or they use it but they already feel happy enough with it. Novelty is a major motivating factor for sales in this niche. Same for YouTube videos, and that's also why views on videos about app updates are generally much lower than the views were on the video of the original app. Again, this niche is defined much more by desire than by need.

Ah! It was Daniel who replied to me the other day. Feel bad for interrupting his time off now 😄

  • I was kinda hoping the Logic Pro update would fix this before Klevgrand did, but still not working.

Oh well, back to refreshing this forum every hour until it’s fixed.

  • Daniel must be on his holibobs again! Honestly this should be such an easy fix for them. I’m very unlikely to get oneshot 2 at this stage

  • Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with v1, I don't think I'm going to upgrade anytime soon. I just wish Unholy drums weren't $40.
