This has provoked me into completing all the IAPs, which I have been accumulating piecemeal for ages as I needed them.

Is there any chance the app could be modified such that it scales to full-screen on an M-series Mac? That would be fantastic.

It works fine in full-screen for me on an M1 Mac if I press the green maximise button.

Great update, by the way. Bought the excellent B3.

Really? I have large black bars to the left and right.

You're quite right. I get the black areas as well, but they don't seem as wide as the ones in your screenshot.

Whoa that sounds like a great update. Does performance mode work with audio, or only plugins?

There is some context to this: this feature is made primarily for our large Brazilian user base who play in church using primarily Soundfonts. The Live performance mode therefore only creates instrument tracks so it is not for audio tracks as you won't be able to access the arranger screen in this mode.

Thanks! I'll look again into the screen issue on Mac, but I remember it was far from trivial to implement.

  • I can find the SF iap shop, but where’s the one for the app?

I am not sure what you mean?

  • eg how is the Evolution B3 iap accessed?

It doesn’t seem to be included in the soundfont shop.

Ah, right. Correct, since it's not a Soundfont.
It's near the top of the left list of instruments, underneath Evolution One.

  • The keyboard icon. Completed missed it on the phone.

If that's a true screenshot, it looks like your screen is slightly "taller", aspect ratio 16:10, while @dpeace's screen is a more conventional 16:9. So the app window fits yours better.

Edit: It looks like the app window aspect is 4:3, typical for iPads.

Confirmed. My display output is 16:9, and the window is 4:3.

  • I got it to work full-screen now on my Mac Mini. It was rather simple after all, but now on iPad I get a 'traditional' menu at the top and I need to test whether there are no problems introduced on iPhone/iPad.

    No, perhaps in future.

You are welcome. I would advise everyone to hold off updating to 7.1.8 now though since it contains a bug where it could crash when loading a project when you have instrument tracks armed. Version 7.1.9 is uploaded to Apple but it always takes a while for it to be reviewed.

    Release notes for 7.1.8/7.1.9:

    • The volume peak calculation for the right channel of a stereo track was wrong in situations where a zero-crossing needed to be calculated. Solved.
    • 'Add track' in Live Performance mode could cause a crash when 16 or more tracks were present. Solved.
    • Saving a project in Live Performance would un-arm the tracks and the arm state was therefore not stored. Solved.
    • Selecting MIDI remote setup would un-arm the tracks. Solved.
    • Improved memory management when switching Soundfonts.
    • Added Portamento on/off and Portamento time parameters to ADSR displays of the virtual keyboard and Live mode.
    • Added a 'MIDI remote control' option to the menu of the EQ section in the mixer channel.
    • Added a 'MIDI remote control' option to the menu of the ADSR controls in the virtual keyboard. The MIDI remote control setup dialog has this functionality, but applies to all armed tracks.
    • The app is now able to display in full screen on a Mac.
  • 7.1.9 live now (UK).

  • Version 7.2.1 is rolling out over the next 7 days:

    • When leaving the Settings dialog, some settings like 'Reverse sustain pedal' did not come into effect directly. Solved.
    • Solved an issue where 'Reverse sustain pedal' did not work correctly with multiple tracks armed.
    • Solved a crash in live performance mode when adding a track when a track was armed.
    • If AudioBus was active, tracks were un-armed when starting to record. Solved.
    • In Live Performance mode, the user interface of AUv3 instruments was not displayed for iPhones. Solved.
    • The beta option to change Storage Location would cause a crash since the addition of the Live performance mode option. Solved.
  • Version 7.2.8 for iOS has been released:

    • Added a 'Scenes' button to the Live Performance mode. A scene contains mixer channel, effect and instrument parameter states.
Switching between scenes is very fast and allows to arm and un-arm groups of tracks, which is quicker than loading projects.
Projects/songs are still useful when not all the Soundfonts you want to use fit in memory at once.
You can toggle between a list view of scenes at the right side of the screen or a grid covering the whole screen.
Adding a scene will store the mixer state as it is at that time. You can long-press a scene for Save, Delete and Rename.
Scene switching can also be done by MIDI CC numbers, for which a new category 'Scenes' is added to the MIDI Remote Setup.

    • Added an option 'Let notes finish after un-arming' to the Live Performance settings. This will keep on playing held notes until release.

    • The Mixer display channel offset is now updated when sending a MIDI command for Next/Prev bank.
    • The default is now 'Send note off on un-arm' for live performance projects.
    • Implemented sustain pedal for Evolution One.
    • Solved MIDI clock sync issue with negative MIDI clock sync correction.
    • Added 'Pitch bend range' to the MIDI input dialog for tracks with Soundfonts as instruments.
    • 'Rename' and 'Remove' Setlist in the Setlist dialog are now implemented.
    • Added a 'MIDI Monitor' option to the More menu.
  • A great app! 😎✌🏼

  • Has enyone here moved from NS2 to this?
If so, how has it been?
As fast, easy, immediate as NS2 was? As lite? As intuitive?

    Hi @dwrae

Application crashes when I duplicate a track with Mozaic loaded as MIDI FX. I sent bug report via internal email reporting system with all the logs it collected. If you need an assistance with reproduction or more logs collection - I’m happy to help.

Also, have you ever thought about making CC automation lanes copy-paste-able? I’m experimenting with SWAM-based orchestras and sections made of solo instruments and re-drawing automation lanes takes so much time, even a plain select+copy+paste solution would help a lot

UPD: I also found out that the ghost track doesn’t work properly. I select one track as a target, but when I click OK it selects all of them every time (and doesn’t even display them all in a piano roll so I don’t see the target track at the end)

Thanks, solved! At least, I don't have Mozaic but I tried with others and was able to reproduce it so I assume it's the same problem.

Yes, it's on my todo list.

You mean when you freeze a track?

No, I mean when I select "ghost track" in piano roll to see several tracks together

I had NS2 and tbh I wasn't very happy with it as well. I want to build a workflow with high use of MIDI CC automation of all sorts: record from external controllers, draw by pencil, edit after that, apply to several tracks, post-process to add small nuances and so on. And I'm talking about exactly MIDI CC that is stored together with notes, not "MIDI learned" button assignments that belong to the DAW. And NS2 was actually not very good at that. Actually there's no iOS DAW that's good at that.

But there are honestly not that much good multi-track DAWs. AudioEvolution is one of the best IMO. It doesn't have weird limitations, it is packed with a lot of features, tempo automation (though I prefer tempo track to the tempo labels). It has unlimited audio FX possibilities with two parallel FX lanes per track and unlimited amount of effects that you can chain together. Unlimited groups and FX sends (which are displayed in the FX chain so you can send signal from any place of your chain). AWESOME autotune/time adjustment IAP (I've never used autotune since I don't sing, but I used it to fix some fucked up timings in my guitar record which I didn't want to re-record again). Separated track view / Mixer view / Group mixer view that is so convenient for mixing (especially now with multi-touch and fader automation record). It has some quirks as well: you have to get used to some UI choices, MIDI CC drawing confuses me a bit (but as almost any other DAW), I wish it had a cross-track MIDI chord detector to track mistakes in multi-track chord spreading.

And you can see yourself how awesome and quick dwrae's support is!

Other possible alternatives are Cubasis and MultiTrack Studio. I'm not using Cubasis, because it's right-hand oriented and I'm left-handed so it's a huge pain to draw MIDI with Pencil there. So I can't say a lot. MultiTrackStudio has some brilliant UI/UX choices which I would like to see in other DAWs: the multi-track chord detector I mentioned above and overall multi-track MIDI edit possibilities, convenient MIDI CC / automation drawing, tempo track, global song editor mode where you can reorganize parts of the song on the fly across all tracks, ability to replace on-screen MIDI keyboard with whatever AU plugin you want, punch-in recording to the selected part of the track without any additional buttons /menus. But at the same time it has much more limitations than AudioEvolution: no more than 5 audio FX per track (and every FX send or group will reduce this limit even more, so get used to live with ~3 FX per track if you like groups, sends and AU virtual instruments), limited amount of FX sends (2 actually), limited amount of groups (8 as I remember) and tracks overall (and it's quite expensive to buy extension packs), only one MIDI FX slot per track.

So there is no DAW on iOS that would satisfy every need, but AudioEvolution is my default tool overall and MTS is a tool for quick sketches that I'm not going to turn into "big" tracks

Ah, the funny thing is that I accidentally tried to do it probably the same way as you did: by duplicating a track twice. If I would have created a track normally, I wouldn't have seen the issue: duplicating the track also erroneously duplicates its UUID, which is used as reference in the ghost track selection dialog. Solved in next release!
Note that this is not really fixable anymore for your current project unless you edit the project file (.prj) and alter the track's UUID.

:scream: I've already made a multi-instrument SWAM string section and even wrote down some notes there.
I actually wanted to save this proj as a template to never do this crap again, so is the .prj file a text document where I can find them and re-generate? Do you have any instructions to not break it up, like proper keys or smth?

I have a Linux PC, 10 years of coding experience, Python and Claude Code setup and I don't want to ruin my vacation evening with re-creating this project from scratch again
