Real stuff here. TBH, as a non-drummer type, I was initially a little uncertain about making the leap because of the relatively higher entry price, but not only am I pleased to have the app, I am more pleased with the fact that significant work is ongoing and it's so obviously a labor of love/project in progress.

And yes, looking forward to seeing the new look as well :)

  • Wow that's the best news I've heard!!!!!
Oh boy this is going to be extremely awesome!!

Any particular reason why the percussion track first? Is that a norm? I always thought the kick was usually a slot one thing?

This doesn't necessarily represent the order of the tracks...just a list of what tracks will be offered. It will probably go

Kick, Snare, hats, toms, cymbals, perc

Thanks. I know it may sound picky it's just so hard to change some OCD habits :)

  • @DerekBuddemeyer, I wasn't quite clear from that post whether multi IAA / Audiobus live outputs is part of the plan. Just curious (and hopeful).

Will look into that...write out how you would like to use it and I'll see if it fits into our scope of things...we've got a ton of stuff planned but this may be something we might want to have in play

Thanks, much appreciated. It's pretty straightforward really. The master channel, plus each of the tracks is available as a separate audio stream. Best I can do is provide some screenshots using another app that works the same way.

In AudioBus, in addition to the master output, each of the tracks shows up as a separate output. With something like YUM or Auria Pro in the output slot, each track selected shows up as it's own channel.

In Auria Pro, in an FX slot on an audio track the master plus all the tracks are available to select:

@Blue_Mangoo let's talk about your thoughts on this once the dust settles a little

    Wow approaching 32K!!! Epic.

Wonder if that's a new Audiobus forum record.

Dang, I was hoping for 50K by 2017 for this thread. :( O Well......

    ;)

  • Awesome stuff, yes - separate outputs would be awesome (just like DrumPerfect Pro), but I'd be happy with the export option for now. BTW, awesome that the update will include audio and midi multitrack export. I just got MIDI in & out working with Drum Session & Auria Pro lastnight and I'm loving the results, just no way to process the individual channels yet, so I'm excited for this.

  • Now to find a way to map Korg Gadget's MIDI to Session Drummer and bring it into Auria so I'm not fiddling with remappings all day.

  • Gadget doesn't do midi out does it?

  • No, but it can export MIDI via iTunes or Dropbox and I find its editor very easy to use.

  • That is some cool shit right there! Just an FYI to everyone. You can view the video and not have a FB account. :)

  • How did you get this to work with Auria? I haven't even been able to sync DS to Auria.

  • @DerekBuddemeyer thank you for your diligent work!

I'm having a constant issue with Drum Session on my iPad Pro 12.9 where the transport buttons just stop responding after I play any pattern in the timeline and at any time press the Record button. The metronome begins to click and the the Play button changes to reveal the Stop button, but pressing it does nothing, all of the transport buttons stop responding. I'm left with no option but to force quit the app.

  • There's more than one way, but they all require you to change stuff in Auria or Drum Session. I prefer to leave Auria set a certain way and change the settings in Drum Session.

First, add Drum Session as an instrument in Auria Pro. In the PORT panel, set Channel to All and select Drum Session as an input device.

    There's two scenarios:
    1. Recording MIDI from DS to Auria
    2. Playing MIDI in Auria and have it trigger DS.

    1. If you want to record MIDI from DS to Auria (let's say you've constructed the drum track within DS), then in DS's settings, set the MIDI Destination to Auria Pro and set the MIDI Out channel to 1 (or any channel number, I find 1 the easiest). MIDI In should be set to none. Auria is set to receive MIDI on any channel so we should be okay there. Hit record in Auria Pro and play in DS. This will print the MIDI to our track in Auria Pro.

    2. If you then want to play this MIDI track (or any other track) and have it trigger DS, then set the MIDI In channel to 1 and the MIDI out to none (essentially flip the two).

Please let me know if this works for you.

    Niall.

  • That's exactly how I build up drum tracks too, though I might invest in an external controller simply for the velocity information physical pads provide. On that note, adjusting velocities could be much easier in Drum Session, it's quite a pain atm.

  • Why is not possible to have touch sensitive pads with a touch screen?

iPhone version will utilize 3D touch

Can you give me a step by step on how this happens...then if we can recreate it...we can fix it

    Doesn't GarageBand have this?

  • Don't care for it takes so much space. DS is light and awesome! But maybe the iPad screen might not be as strong for people to do beats on it.

This worked fine for Auria receiving midinotes from DS, but how did you sync the two apps?
