Modstep crashes to often for me even when I just drop their own drum sounds onto the pads.
Would love to us it with Future Drummer instead of NI Battery on the laptop. Ahh well.
It's so strange. Modstep is pretty rock solid for me. Are you using it in AUM directly ? Or are you using Audiobus in the equation ? What version of modstep are you using ? I rolled back from beta 1.2.6 to the public release due to IAA crash issues.
I just decided to nuke it and reinstall completely. Past few minutes work OK. Not using it in AUM yet or AB, just FD and Modstep, but like I say, so far it seems better.
WHat the heck notes are these pads assigned to anyway, can you change them?! Should I read the manual?! Hehe. Would be nice if FD would let you save midi note configs... errr, can FD save midi note comfigs?
Touch the midi icon to see / change the midi note mappings. In my limited tests, I found it a bit of a pain to change them, but manageable. They're global, so you can't save a bunch of different mappings that I can tell. For me they persist between sessions, but some have said they don't. Wierd that one.
in my opinion if you're pointing it at modsteps sampler. its better to let the midi come in. and drag and drop the appropraite samples as they get triggered.
Yah it is the fills I am having trickiness with. Would like to first get them 'right' then mess around.
Oh i see, i gettin it now... step2 load up my fav smaples. Thanks for the Modstep tip, very cool!
It's the same workflow as ableton
if you use ifunbox you can actually dump nested folders with all your samples sorted properly. Another lovely thing about modstep's sampler is you can change the pitch of the sample by semitones. Something I truly wish Bilbao had....
Rotor does as well no?
Egoist?
I need to look at MODSTEPS sample situation.
The only thing I have tinkered in it with are the MIDI out. Basically what Genome does.
Never tried the sample use and experience with MODSTEP.
Can you record into MODSTEP (output slot) and use that recorded audio instantly as a sample in a project?
What options of sound standards are audio projects in Modstep? What is default anyway?
You cannot record directly onto a pad, but you can record, then drag and drop the audio onto a pad.
'BM3'
(First in thread!)
might as well talk about unicorns or leprechaun gold. I'll believe it when i see it.
yarrr! I saw a dropbox video from 50 fathoms deep in the internet... with me own eyes I did! Pads were recorded instantly! it was like the app knew... when sound began and ended... as if it had ears of its own... yarrr...
Sounds like ye got taken in by the call of them sirens. So many landlubbers get dragged into the deep listening to their dulcet tones. Crying shame if ye ask me

pretty sure you broke Samu's NDA by sharing that D=
He already posted it on this here forum in another thread saying it won't get him booted out of the beta.
I was expecting video of Unicorns and pots of gold, but no...boring old recording onto pads
To each their own (weirdo)...
Ahhhh That's better ! Thanks .... put me right in the mood to make some death metal that has
No worries, It's been 'approved' by @mathieugarcia
And well, there are no NDA's involved but I try to stay put out of respect.
When I feel I can contribute in a positive way I'll do that...
I took the plunge. Not surprisingly, I can't get it to trigger ruismaker in AUM. So i tried all the suggestions from earlier in the thread.
1. In settings switched Ruismaker to GM midi.
2. Had link disabled, force quit, reload
3. Disabled link in aum
4. Input in FD set to FD.
Everytime i select aum as output in FD, it crashes. What gives?
This works for me...
Oh and yes Ruismaker is set to General Midi here. i was wondering what these weird notes in Future Drummer were from, heh good old GM eh?
Follow the settings above. and keep link enabled. I think AUM doesn't send iaa sync to FD.
Just as i was about to publish my post about it still not working with the above setup, something made me try again and it works even tho i did nothing seemingly different. Hopefully it'll just all open up with the aum file i saved it under and work from here on. Otherwise i guess it's one if those things that need to get done in a sequential order.
I got seekbeats working quick but Ruismaker sounds so FRESH with FD! I just may sacrifice SB multi-outs for Ruismaker. They seem to have done a good job for giving each drum part their own space anyway. Just a little multiband work down the road should suffice. Thanks @gonekrazy3000 and @AudioGus
Yowza that's cool. Sorry, @AndyPlankton, but I think about the time saved with little things like this!
Lol, it is only boring compared to unicorns, compared to the usual record/trim/import/add to pad then of course it is cool.
Going through old abandoned tunes and upgrading them with better Future Drummer beats has given them a whole new beginning.
does this app have audio export?
Hmmm. Now there's a happy time sink to consider...
