  • Thanks for the BM3 insights. Yah I never got too far with RozLFOs in BM3 aside from a few experiments and imagine this would be the same. Seems like AUM folks will get the most out of this.

As far as dreaming up epic ideas, here is my best attempt:
    MIDI guitar layers

Dude, this is EXACTLY the first use case that I came up with. I have found that what I really want with MIDI guitar is just accenting. Anyway, glad to hear I"m not the only one futzing with this stuff out here...

nice, let me know how it goes! are you using Thumbjam? Or MIDI Morphosis? or ...that other expensive one I haven't bought? MIDI Guitar 2 I think.

Since no one else mentioned it yet: what about controlling video effects on an app like Takete. Takete midi-mappable controls for almost every parameter.

I could imagine a kick drum triggering visual effects or a reverb bus going through Enveloper to change color, etc.

There are a lot of great ideas in this thread, but i will take a special look into this one for my live acts. Thank you and all the other contributers.

Glad to give some ideas  I'm really excited about this one too.
It seems like video effects are usually programmed/ MIDI synced to pre-programmed tracks etc. This app opens up a lot of possibilities for video effects that sync in real-time based on actual sounds, so many possibilities for a more spontaneous, live performance.

  • Synth pads with reverb and delays are especially good - entrancing. An obvious use case I guess.

  • Is this easily configurable in Cubasis? Or is AUM the only safe bet for right now?

  • Most of the promo codes have been sent! Enjoy guys!

It does work in BM3 (from what i've played with) - but its a bit of a pain to configure!

Hosts handling properly MIDI and AUDIO with routing support:

    AUM by kymatica
BM3 by Intua : See previous remarks.

    Coming:

AudioBus 3 by Audiobus Pty Ltd
    Sequencism by Rodrigo Roman Castro
    ApeMatrix by ApeSoft

And yes probably Cubasis, I've already contacted @lars and provided TestFlight. Cross fingers :)

If you have contact with developers of any hosts (or if they are reading this?) do not hesitate to send a request and include me to provide TestFlight and support :)

  • as expected, this is too much fun. My first test (no gear. just iPad + headphones)

Mic input is dry vocals, with heavy saturation. I whisper/ talk normal and there are no effects.

Bus B is Envolver, always at minimum 40%. When I talk louder, Envolver sends CC 22 to increase bus A and bus B send amount (sending more to Envolver, and also activating the send to Bus A for delay + reverb)

The fun part is the 2nd CC control in Envolver. I inverted it and sent it to decrease the saturation on my dry vocals.

End result is a vocal chain that saturates my whispers/normal voice and puts an echo/reverb on my yelling/screaming. trippy stuff... glad no one else is in the house at the moment :#

Very clever. I tried to emulate this, and although I’m sure my settings were somewhat different, I still came up with a rather creepy effect. For some reason, I whispered/sang The Beatles’ “From Me To You” into the mic, resulting in a fairly twisted a cappella cover. I was surprised when I looked up that the Hounds of Hell had not surrounded my home.

Haha! Brilliant idea! Opens up how much creativity is possible with this app! Cool one!

  • yes this appears to be a good idea. I also intend to use Envolver with my voice. As destination probably rather filters for a more subtle effect.

  • Brilliant app this, able to create the most subtle and natural modulations from different sources, more than just using an LFO and of course you can combine it with or control an LFO so the sky's the limit :)

  • Envolver triggering the mute button give some very nice “gate-isch” effects !

Would love to know how people are doing with using it in BM3.

    Made a quick vid...

Please keep sharing your fantastic ideas and result !!!! :)

@Cliffy @david_2017 thanks guys. I read what I write and think... does that even make sense?? Lol. I’m glad that someone is feeling my groove. By the way, swap out the saturation for a compressor and it sounds even better :-)

The limitations of the focus actions in BM3 are unfortunate.

  • @Hmtx plugged in a guitar yet to see how Envolver works with the use case you described previously?

Some basic fun! I’m having fun but I’m a tad frustrated with my tired and well used iPad mini 2. Have to keep things simple or cpu and overheating occurs lol :) Good I’ve budgeted for an iPad soon!

  • No screen shots to post, or specific routings to suggest...still experimenting with Envolver myself, but posting just to note that if the idea of controlling MIDI in this fashion at all appeals to you, know that Envolver works really well, and does reward experimentation and thinking outside of the box.

  • FAC Bundle is on the store, all 4 apps included.

Not sure everything is OK with it though....says its £24.99 for me, and I already own all but Envolver

  • @FredAntonCorvest Envolver is cool and I agree with comments above that it really has spurred me to think outside the box for possible use cases. One thing that popped into my head as I was fiddling last night is this: it'd be really interesting to have a tool that analyzes frequencies and sends out MIDI CC's accordingly. So let's just say that Envolver channel 1 analyzes bass frequencies only but channel 2 analyzes treble frequencies only. I'm not sure of the technical lift involved with that frequency analysis but I see EQ apps show frequency analysis in real time so I figure it must be possible...

  • Urghhhh. Just had my first try with this, only to discover it doesn’t work with AuriaPro. Not FAC’s fault. WTF?

Ho-hum, will have another go later using AUM.

I'm guessing you should still be able to route the audio from Auria to AUM, through Envolver, and then route the Envolver MIDI back to Auria ?

Sounds like a plan, AP. :)

Yes the setup is the one suggested by @d4d0ug - And maybe you could also try to control the cutoff of those filters with another Fac Envolver :)
