Urghhhh. Just had my first try with this, only to discover it doesn’t work with AuriaPro. Not FAC’s fault. WTF?

Ho-hum, will have another go later using AUM.

    It's already written here => http://fredantoncorvest.com/know_issues.html
Yes a bit technical but some hosts does not provide MIDI output block to AuV3 Audio&MIDI.

Between, I'm proud to add Sequencism by Rodrigo Roman Castro to the list of host supporting AuV3 Audio&MIDI. And soon!! ApeMatrix too :)

Do not hesitate to open a post on dedicated "host" forum to suggest support of such AuV3, include a link to Fac Envolver and official demos, I will be pleased to help them to ensure that everything is working properly.

@FredAntonCorvest Envolver is cool and I agree with comments above that it really has spurred me to think outside the box for possible use cases. One thing that popped into my head as I was fiddling last night is this: it'd be really interesting to have a tool that analyzes frequencies and sends out MIDI CC's accordingly. So let's just say that Envolver channel 1 analyzes bass frequencies only but channel 2 analyzes treble frequencies only. I'm not sure of the technical lift involved with that frequency analysis but I see EQ apps show frequency analysis in real time so I figure it must be possible...

similar to this i've been sending audio to AUM buses and then adding filters and then adding Envolvers - so I get a CC envelope for bass / mid / highs.

Well, duh. Now I should either feel dumb or note your clever solution. Or both.

No, that was a 100% certified Clever Trick™
Also shows once again how ridiculously versatile AUM is.

What I would like to use as audio sources are natural sounds. A recording of rain has a lot of irregular short amplitude spikes. With different threshold levels one should achieve a lot of variation in the resulting CC value stream. However, some rain recordings do have rhythmic structures, for example inside a tent. Listening carefully one can discert several regular patterns which are interwoven into a grand polyrhythmic superstructure. Such sources seem most interesting because they have some order and rhythm in the randomness, which can be used as a basis or background for a musician.

Have you tried to put a recording of rain? Very interested about this one in particular :)

  • Anyone bought the bundle? How much does it charge if you’ve got the other 3 apps already ?

  • hope the question is not to silly: is there anyone who uses ENVOLVER under ios 10.3 and when yes in wich way?
    thanks!

The AppStore will know how much you spent on the other apps and give that amount as a reduction on the bundle price. If you got things on sale then the bundle price may not change very much!

Just tried it out for you. It displays the loading screen which tells you that an au midi compatible host running iOS 11 is required in order to use it!

There is a clear warning on first line on the App Store, mentioning iOS 11 is required. Furthermore the website provides known issue information here... But wait you received a promo code, no ? so no App Store warning :)

Seems that the bundle management is a bit weird, I had to recreate a new one in order to include all my apps. Impossible to edit the previous one because it's forbidden to add an app to an existing framework. I have to keep only one bundle so no choice. Maybe this should be mentioned to Apple.

  • App Store has a very weird way of making a deal.

  • :s Probably related to what I tried to explain in the previous post - nothing in my hand here unfortunately but thank you very much for your support (already 3x apps), really appreciated. Between I have to add the iOS 11 warning here too...

I did indeed! It was advertised as iOS11 only on the forum also so I would have thought most people knew about that requirement already.

  • It wasn’t (though it is now) clear about just how few apps it works with though

Thanks for the BM3 insights. Yah I never got too far with RozLFOs in BM3 aside from a few experiments and imagine this would be the same. Seems like AUM folks will get the most out of this.

It does work in BM3 (from what i've played with) - but its a bit of a pain to configure!

Hosts handling properly MIDI and AUDIO with routing support:

    AUM by kymatica
BM3 by Intua : See previous remarks.

    Coming:

AudioBus 3 by Audiobus Pty Ltd
    Sequencism by Rodrigo Roman Castro
    ApeMatrix by ApeSoft

And yes probably Cubasis, I've already contacted @lars and provided TestFlight. Cross fingers :)

If you have contact with developers of any hosts (or if they are reading this?) do not hesitate to send a request and include me to provide TestFlight and support :)

Between Sequencism is out and it's working, but the host requires AuV3 supporting MIDI learning.

    ====================================================================================
Releasing a product using last API features was a big risk to take, big companies don't take those kind of risk but as indie dev I don't care :D I've got already some very negatives reviews on App Store from UK about things related more to host than to the AuV3 itself...and even I think a video of a problem in a host. But yes someone has to take the blame. I wanted this feature (env follower) for longtime and I did it (first for me lol). And I yes, I didn't wait until all the hosts support MIDI for audio AuV3. But => users have the power! Please go to host forum and write them about supporting MIDI for audio AuV3, include me + video and I will provide them help if required. For info Rodrigo (sequencism) and Allesandro (apeMatrix) have implemented the support very very quickly ;)

  • I was talking about the AppStore description = which originally just referred to ios11 and a host app.

  • So how do I make this work in Sequencism? It loads ok without an error message in the audio effects bit but that’s as far as I can figure it out.

I'll try to help as I'm a Sequencism user like you, @rrc2soft will correct me if I'm wrong.

So you have Fac Envolver running, it's great. On the same window there is on the top right corner a little round button. Simply select the track where you want to send the MIDI data.

An important remarks (according to Rodrigo @rrc2soft) is that you have to use a synth that supports MIDI learning, Zeeon Synth by Beepstreet is very nice and supports MIDI learning and others do the same. I'm sure we ll get updates because Rodrigo works very hard on the host. It's a great app!

Trick: when you do MIDI learning be careful to have only one channel selected in Fac Envolver otherwise you will send 2 CC numbers and chance that you will assign two CC to the same parameter.

    Hope it helps :)

    If only that were true.

Faults with Auria Pro, and suggestions for features that would greatly improve or, or simply make it easier to use have been ignored for years now. The developer has a set of priorities which he considers more important.

Similarly, the developers of Cubasis have their own ideas for how the app will progress, and some features are destined to remain off the agenda.

So telling everyone you have this great app, which is true, but that it’s really down to other developers to support it, is not such a great plan.

When I buy a Brambos app, for example, I don’t expect to have to badger other developers before I can use it! Yes, I can use Envolver with AUM, and will enjoy that. But not being able to use it with the leading iOS DAW unless Wave Labs put in some work is, IMHO, an own goal. :'(

  • Cool that helps a lot thank you.

Sequencism is one of those things that doesn’t get nearly all the love it deserves I think.

  • Just when I was thinking most Dev's/Apps are a pretty boring and uninspiring bunch, along comes a killer app that can do so much, and is so open to interacting with IOS and hardware.

    10 outa 10 !!

  • I do hope that @LFS and his team consider imprvomg the midi routing options in Cubasis. For example allow sending the midi out from one track to another or one of the currently loaded AUv3’s regardless of what track they are loaded on.

Allowng multiple instruments (Internal and plug-ins) with simple midi-filtering(key-range & velocity etc.) would make it a breeze to create layered sounds.

Separate plug-in control tracks could be handy too.
(For examplemcontrol track to control note-input to rozeta arp and record the midi output to the main track track).

While I do lve the idea of Envolver it has limited use intil more hosts are capable enough to support it.

A Plug-In CC > any laded AUv3 Parameter name ’matrix’ would solve a lot of the issues but also add complexity to any host...

Although I found a bug when saving AU MIDI enabled tracks :'( . Will fix it and try to get an expedited review.

But Brambos Rozeta doesn’t work in Auria Pro yet either, as it uses the same technology. Auria will be updated eventually I’m sure. I think it’s great that some developers support cutting edge new features rather than wait for everyone to catch up otherwise progress would be very slow. Audiobus 3 and ApeMatrix are coming soon which support it (although Audiobus will require midi learn enabled apps).

    >

    This is true.

However, I regard FAC apps as being the same category as Brambos Perforator and Kosmonaut. Whereas, Rozeta is a suite intended first and foremost to work under AUM.

But yes, it is good for all developers to push the boundaries. :) Mr Fred does a fine job of that,

  • I was with @samu thinking that the limited hosts that can run Envolver would keep it in the want list for awhile, but after @thesoundtestroom’s demo & seeing some YT vids on envelope followers in general, I picked it up.

Auria Pro is my go to DAW with Cubasis behind it, so hopefully the devs will update their MIDI routing capabilities soon. I have AUM and BM3 so I was thinking I could experiment with it and then bring the results over to Auria.

OR if I’m not mistaken, couldn’t an AUM output be routed to an existing session in Auria and with the same BPM be able to be overdubbed? I can’t remember if AUM & Auria have Ableton Link capability...we’ll see. Great possibilities with this app though, very cool.
