@ElliottGarage The 'All' button doesn't work when adjusting pitch for slices, it just changes the pitch for the active slice...

Thats ATOM triggering slices in EG Slicer...
(I noticed this 'bug' when I tried to change the pitches of all slices).
Decided to share to screen-shot here in the thread so users can see that it's actually out there being heavily tested
@Samu i appreciate the work you put into product testing and development. You’ve made lots of products that people use so much better. You being a “tech” has made my life as a “performer” so much better. Creativity takes so many forms. Glad you have an outlet for yours!
Looking forward to the final form of this one!
thanks @Samu, multiple pitch fixed
Thanks for the kind words!
Yeah, this will definitely (for now) be the easiest and fastest way on iOS to slice up a sample or just use a single-shot as a chromatic instrument.
Still weighting on wether it's a good idea to have per slice loop settings (a slice can already loop but a loop within a slice).
With the loop within a pad/slice you'd get 16 poly-chromatically playable samples each with their own loop points but I guess this would make it a bit too complex for most users...
Need to save some ideas for future updates too
Question: is their polyphony per slice? When I create a drum kit from a loop in BM3, their are various sound types that require polyphony like rides, crashes, snares, kicks So that when you retrigger them it sounds more natural.
@ElliottGarage Don't know if this is a 'host issue' but the 'active slice' is not 'state saved' so recalling a session where a slice was selected is not properly recalled... (This is quite handy when a slice is used as a polyphonic instrument in a session).
@drez yes, when global settings is Poly you have polyphony also for single slice
Each pad/slice has (for now) a playback mode, Shot(Play Slice to end), Gate(Play while held down), Link(go to next slice), Loop Slice, Pong-Loop Slice.
There is also a global Poly/Mono mode, in Mono only one pad at a time makes noise, tapping anther pad cuts the other off.
So In poly mode the length could be controlled by the note length (gate time) in the sequencer.
If for example a cymbal needs to 'ring out' just use longer gate-times on the trigger notes, there is also a release parameter per pad so you could in poly mode trigger multiple cymbals and they would all ring out.
Each slice also has optional reverse mode.
It's impossible to cover all use-cases but I'll try to do my best
@ElliottGarage I'm considering wether to request for 'queued quantized triggering' as that would make it easier to perform a loop with shots...(Ie. tap a slice and it would be queued until the next set division (ie. this would make it easier to trigger slices in time say every 1/8 or 1/4 etc.). But I feel that's a bit over the top for now.
@Samu thanks for the details on that! Sounds very much like the way simpler works with push.
Are we there yet?
You're welcome, also when using the AUv3 multi-out it's possible to select the output bus per pad.
Quite handy if the sample is not a loop but a composite of single sounds that need individual processing
Each pad also has Volume, Pan, Gain (for some nasty distortion), Filter, Attack, Release, Start and Length control.
I've tried really hard to keep my suggestions within scope of the app and not turn it to a never ending story part infinity.
Honestly I want it to be as simple as possible with 'just enough' features so it will not turn into a where is this, where is that etc.
So I've stayed away from things like 'record in sync with link' (it's already possible to record a file in AUM that is in perfect sync and import it to EG Slicer) and excessive sample-editing requests as those are better handled by other apps like Auditor...
(Only features I wish to see are 'trim' and 'normalize', fade in/out can already be handled by the AD envelope).
For single-shots and quick slicing it's hard for now to find a better option...
Hopefully Drambo will add piano-roll with midi export/import transpose to scale/key to
‘Replace’ Atom here..
>
I could have done this in Drambo as well and use less space on screen.
(An in that case I would not have needed EG Slicer at all).
Personally I don't miss a piano roll in Drambo.
It's compact and efficient and it would be a nightmare to add P-Locks to events on a piano-roll
Other options I could have used here for sequencing were Rozeta, Riffer, StepPolyArpUnit, StepBud or Cycle, miRack, BeatHawk etc.
Time check how well EG Slicer plays along with Cubasis 3...
Not with @Samu testing!
Joking, affectionately! Agree with @drez above.
Never really thought about beta testers before but I can see what you mean: a good one must be like gold to a dev.
Just to clarify...
...I will never be able to find every single issue with an app as it's humanly impossible to cover all use(r) cases
@Samu I derive my greatest musical pleasure by diving into these musical puzzle synths and seeing what they do and how. Any suggestions for how I might be able to transition into beta testing? I spoke to one dev and was recommended a FB group, but I don’t like FB...
I don't know if there's any golden route to beta-testing...
...for me I've been asked if I'd like to beta-test, some that require NDAs I've not accepted since I don't like to have my thought patterns locked towards a developer or company (meaning I'm not 'free' to share my ideas to more than one party at a time).
With the no NDA mindset I can freely share my ideas to anyone who is willing to listen and this way help the community as a whole to evolve
I know bigger companies (Steinberg, KORG, GM, UVI etc.) require NDAs and those who are under NDA can not even say they are under NDA as that would break their contract. As I see it's their(the Companies) loss, but hey, they are still free to scout the forums for ideas and some do...
From time to time developers post on the iPad Musicians Group on FB that they are looking for testers...
Also I think there's some action on the JUICE developer site as well as on the AB Developer forums but that's about all I know.
For the time being I'm testing 3 apps which I give a bit more time to than others partly because I really love using them...
All but the one in this thread are already released. (No BM3 is not one of them, I'm not even on beta for that one anymore).
I think one way to 'grab dev attention' is to stay supportive and avoid bashing
@ElliottGarage + @Samu - Really appreciate the hard work you are putting into this app.. restraining the choices of what to put in + what to leave out must be quite bewildering.. staying true to the original vision.. NOT easy.. Look forward to the final results..
1 Stay honest with your critique "Everything is great" is useless to developers.
2 STFU about being a beta tester, unless the developer specifically asks you to, keep it in your pants.
Thanks @Samu and @Turntablist!
Yep.. I really need to take the time to explore Drambo some more....
Enjoy..
?
Yea I’m dying to try one of these upcoming slicers... especially EG one...
Stress test
@ElliottGarage I think you may be stressing out some of us here by delaying the release..
Now that's a Stress Test!
BUT It looks smooth.. and responsive.. can't wait..
"Game Changer"
ETA anyone?
I really feel the GAS for that plug
I don't have any hosts that allows tempo-automation but that would sure be a fun test to do with time-stretching and pitch adjustments.
I might try to host in in iMPC Pro 2 as it allows me to change the tempo per pattern
the real stress test is when a new video of this gets posted. it stresses me out wondering when it will be released, and when i can use it myself lol
