Where is the code for that? I just thought they went outta business.
Given the heavy MIDI extensibility already in Loopy currently, you could accomplish this with a midi control track sending midi msgs to Loopy from another app (I ain’t saying it’d be pretty, but it is totally doable).
@Michael this app is very promising. I wonder if the app will have multiple output?
Yep!
You're right, they did. I own it but never use it because I dont like the visual aesthetic of a laptop. iOS feels more musical to me. Laptops feel like work. Its too bad they didnt prioritize that over windoze.
Yikes. I'll wait.
Wow, I can’t wait for it to be released 😊
OMG finally...(or almost
)
GREAT NEWS, thanks !
Tell me about it! Would you believe it's been over 6 years? 6 years, and one small human's entire lifetime. Ridiculous.
Sounds like it’s close!.

Can we crowd fund a house keeper and a chef so it will be one month?
Haha, mostly a babysitter would do it, but then I'd miss the little blighter!
Will the new Loopy allow browsing and previewing loops on USB drives?
What do you mean “fund”?. I’ll do the cooking!.
Yep, through Files
What? He isn't coding already?
Get on that one. Then you guys can spend all the time you want together and we can have our toys sooner.
Working on it!
Quick question for you guys: "Capture Recording", "Retrospective Recording", or "Look-Ahead Recording". What name do you prefer? That's the mode where Loopy's always recording, and triggering a record will capture the last n bars.
None of these would have made me guess what the function actually does. 🤷 Would something like "Always-on Recording" be too descriptive for your taste?
That's not bad - although I don't feel it's quite descriptive enough either, as the critical part is that triggering it will lock in the recording, rather than it truly recording all the time.
I was trying to find already-in-use terminology - I notice that Logic Pro uses "Capture Recording", and Cubase, Traktion/Waveform, Samplitude and Live it's "Retrospective Record". I think I probably need to use those...
I'd vote for "Time Machine Recording".
We can't have the future now so it must be the past.
Hehe, cool name, but I think it's gotta jive with the existing platforms' terms, so people can recognise it. I think given that Live uses "Retrospective", and Live shares a big crossover with Loopy Pro's prospective audience, I'll adopt that...
I think ‘capture recording’ would be best out of the three.
Retrospective isn’t a very common word - some people may not know what it means.
To me ‘look ahead recording’ is confusing - when planning to record anything people are always looking ahead to consider what they are about to record so people might think eh? How can I not look ahead to record?
How about ‘capture back recording’? or maybe ‘snatch back recording’?
I think that’s a good way to go.
I’d say Retrospective, probably because I’ve used Live more than other DAWs. Your instinct to follow your prevailing market segment makes sense.
Retrospective +1
To me LookAhead sounds like something it’s doing but not an action.
If I press a button named “LookAhead Record” it’s telling me it’ll start doing LookAhead recording, not that it’s been doing it. Whereas “Retrospective record” is more descriptive ... actually ... “Retrospective Capture”?. You’re not really recording, you’re capturing what’s already been recorded.
Retrospective is the only single word that says what it means in this case. Period. Gotta be that.
If you want something new doesn't “look back recording” make sense? Or “last loop recording”/ “previous loop recording”
Capture Recording matches the upcoming Capture Midi from Atom2 which is the same thing for... you’ve guessed it... midi.
Retrospective Recording is the best description of the functionality - I would be able to guess what that does. And I’m a sucker for alliteration.
Tough one!
The (MIDI sequencer) Toraiz Squid calls this function ‘Time Warp’.
