BeatCutter isn’t as bad as you think. If you spend 10 minutes reviewing and testing the various pages, you can dial everything right down and get some good results quickly.
This. 👏👏👏
Nobody's ever really ready for Igor's method-to-madness. For me, properly using his Classic FX would be a total victory. On the other hand, the increasingly desperate discussions taking place here whenever he releases a new effort ("Let's crowd-source understanding Beatcutter!") are simply magnificent. 😊

Two excellent free apps from Luis Rivas.
First one is “Imaengine School Edition”, a raster to vector conversion app. Just load your image or video, use or alter one of the 23 filters and save the result as jpg, png, pdf or svg file. There’s even an realtime video option. I especially like the video conversion option. You can get some really trippy results.

Second one is “MoWave”, an app to extract audio from video. With built-in waveform editor to cut, trim, fade in, fade out or normalize your audio. You can export audio in wav, flac, mp3 or m4a formats. Very handy.

No Hammerhead? That’s an essential in my book.
If you are satisfied that’s great, it’s also important To know the tools you already have, a priority I sometimes overlook, lol. I try to hold off lots of times, and I’m usually successful. I often take decent sized breaks other then free apps, and Sometimes I feel satisfied to hold off for an extended period of time. However sometimes I buy a new app, for the new creativity options it will bring. Maybe it’s the sound, the ui, the developer, a great deal, whatever it is… it’s something new and for many reasons it can expectedly or unexpectedly make you create something new, something you might not have before. I’m not telling you to buy an app, but when you see one you want or need you will know.
PS if you don’t have hammerhead, I think it’s been under 6 months, I highly recommend.

@Simon or whom ever sees this…
So Beatcutter… is it able to be used on like a basic level at all? Like good presets, a random button, some simple way to just use a few features, or is it necessary to do a deep dive to do anything with it?
I would eventually learn more of the app, but I’m curious how useable it is out of the box? If you have to do a deep dive to get anything out of it I might have to pass for now…
Please advise.
Yes and no.
It is not like a typical synth where you simply start it up and just choose a preset and off you go.
I think to get your head around it you need to watch these videos:
"The Matrix Decoded BeatCutter for non Rocket-scientists":

Sound For More Beatcutter tutorial playlist (10 short videos):
I couldn't really understand it after watching Gav and Doug's videos. But the 2 videos above made it clear enough for me to want to buy it.
If you watch these videos and you still don't get it then you never will.
The app has 44 screens of controls - knobs, dials, sliders. You don't need to know what they all do, but understanding the matrix and the few key controls to make it generate sounds is enough to make the app worthwhile.
To me this video confirms that this is indeed an app for rocket scientists
Ha! Maybe.
But I'm not a rocket scientist and I can get it to make some weird and wonderful noises.
And remember, with an app like this you don't have to be "accurate". When you play a piano or guitar you have to hit the right notes - with this app you can do pretty much anything and nobody is going to say "that note is wrong" or "you are out of key".
It's like abstract art - anything goes :-)
Thanks @Simon i appreciate the info. Cheers!

IAPs also on sale again, e.g. Berlins are £59.99 instead of £99.99 (though recently they have been on at £89.99, possibly caused by the change to what Apple charge UK folk)
Half staff?
I might have to get a refund on Beatcutter - I'm maxing out the DSP on my iPad Air 2 in AUM and getting lots of bad audio crackle.
I wanted to run it in AUM with other apps but there's just not enough horsepower on the Air 2.
Even running it standalone it is high 90% DSP.
