If they sell well I'm sure there will be a sampling model. That's what happened with Electribe.
I like this a lot. I'm all about a more classic-type drum machine/groovebox. I've been thinking this and a Bassstation2 would make a great start for my restart into a hardware based setup.
I'm counting on this too
A tiny led screen would definitely help. Hope they plan releasing an editor for iOS or Android.
It would be good if the patch editor worked like a VST instrument or even better an iOS synth. you could then send the MIDI to it, mess with your sound, and then put it on-board the unit while you go and mess with another
The specs are surprisingly limited (only 2 fx?: delay, reverb) for a $329 standalone groovebox. Looks more interesting as a MIDI controller for iOS, that also happens to have a very limited standalone groovebox functionality, but doesn't seem worth it for the price.
We can't stop playing with it here. Its proving to be a very serious distraction (albeit a very fun one).
you think it's good now, just wait till you guys add sampling to it
I asked the guys at my local shop what it was going to cost here in aus.. They said $899?!?!
So no way will I buy one, I asked them a few times to make sure we where talking about the same thing and they said it is what it is. That's crazy money. I hope that's not true because I was keen to get one.
That sucks. Why is it more expensive there? Is there a special tax like the VAT in the U.K.?
Nope just our dollar is crashing and we traditionally pay more for gear anyway. The volca range went up from $199 to $239 recently
It can't be that much though surely. They must be wrong.. Surely (I hope). I was expecting $449 at the most
Yea, that's WAY beyond any exchange rate mis-match. They must have made a mistake when quoting you.
This store has it listed for $599 https://www.storedj.com.au/category/brands/novation
wow the Korg Electribe is $699 yikes.
How will you set the BPM in standalone mode without a screen to tell you what it is?
when you change the tempo, the buttons are used to spell out the value.
New video posted today. Analog musician hooks Circuit up to his hardware synths via MIDI.
"man trance" lol
looking forward to seeing some down tempo groove based demos.
really like the look of it on that wooden desk.......so much lack of clutter in that moment
Thanks for the link.. Out dollar is shitting it the electribe was $549 when it launched..
$599 for a little jam box is a bit too much. I can't really justify that. I got a mint emx-sd for $450 for example
At first I thought it only had delay and reverb but it looks like the synth and drum patches have various fx per patch, like chorus and distortion, in the macros. It's starting to look more enticing.
Arpeggiator or note repeat would have been nice. Hopefully a firmware update gets released with the ability to replace drum samples.
I bought one and it just arrived yesterday! I think its amazing. I only had about an hour to play with it cause I had a lot of other work to get done (damn the corporate world!).
@shortbus there's definitely more effect control using the macros. It's just not labeled which I kind of like.
I really like the sequencer and the limit of 8 bars but you can put a track together quite easily if you chain the different patterns together.
It sounded pretty good with the batteries and the internal speaker. Played with it while in bed and that was pretty cool too. When I plugged it into my speakers I was quite surprised with how deep/nice it sounded. I ran it into Cubasis on my iPad and recorded some audio with no issues.
Needless to say I'm excited to get home and have a real go at it. Just knowing its there waiting for me is a bit of a turn on lmao
Whack a video on YouTube!!
there should be a music hardware charity for people with mental illness, i could really use some free gear.
Circuit looks to be a very hands-on companion to an iOS device. I can see Circuit being used as the master sequencer (or vice versa) with iOS apps filling in the obvious gaps like sample triggering.
ftw
i'm torn between this thing and the electribe2. the electribe seems more capable but this thing looks really pretty and like the workflow's better
It's a tough call. Though if you get the grey electribe you can now load a hacked OS that lets you flip between it and the sampler version's OS quite easily.
do both os's stay on the maschine at the same time?
