yes, but a stand alone box like this that runs samples is the holy grail
Agree ofcourse btw that was just an off topic call out incase you hadn't stumbled across nomone
oh yeah I know... when novation first put out the launchpad I was all over it, even had one with a wooden case at one time , they are an exceptional company which is why I expect certain things from them.
Funny that everyone thinks I'm making a video. Even funnier that people assume they are going to add sampling to something that clearly wasn't meant to be a sampler. People just assume a company is going to update gear to fit exactly their wishes these days.
You kids these days
hey don't get the wrong Idea, I'm as excited to use the first launchpad made not to control samples as the next guy......or am I ?
btw looking forward to your video
I didn't actually assume you'd make a video on it; I was just trying to speak it into existence.
Th launchpad existed to control live, albeit in a slightly cut down form to that push allows now. It plays clips, not samples, but what the hey, my circuit is here now, and as I've always wanted a mininova but didn't have the space, this fits the bill quite nicely. No sampler required for fun!
ditto here, I'm not making any demands guys just speaking into existence and keeping faith. It's not like wanting to sample is a bad thing, it falls into the category of having fun. imho expecting them to come out with a box that samples in the future is much better than expecting them not to.
Oih you are making a video right?! You gotta man, your electribe video was probably the best and most thorough break down on that piece.
I'll probably do a video.
don't mind the pic vids about the novation circuit
have a question for Launchpadforios or Tarekith.... does the Circuit have step automation/ ala parameter locks?
Yes.
sweet,
It was actually born as a controller for FL Studio I think.
The Launchpad was definitely created for Live first and foremost, that's all that was ever shown in the original marketing materials.
and live is a big sampler more than anything else
You're right, apologies...My memory is fading due to my growing years, and the fact that it is still relatively early morning. LOL
what I want to know is can you save custom midi note assignments on it and if so how many templates can you save?
Oh please
fixed.
Absolutely this device would be explosive if you could sample in, create and assign loops and let that marvelous Novation timestretch magic turn this box the high water mark in a one-stop mobile studio.
Mk2 no doubt
Hey Kobaboto, I'm aware there were only ever a couple of wooden Launchpads ever made, so you might be revealing your identity here ;-)
That would be a powerful box indeed. You would need a powerful CPU chip and lots of RAM to pull it together off.
The new Electribes have similar functionality, no?
Good point. I looked it up and it does have transient sample sequencing. The questions are if you can load more than one sample at a time and map them to the pads, and how long the sampling time is.
The other question is how long it would take to boot, and change kits. I have an Alesis Sample Pad Pro that has 8 dual-layer pads and can load up an SD card full of samples... But you'd better have something to fill dead air between kit swaps, in a live scenario. 8-10 sec. to switch presets.
sample triggering is almost the least intensive effort, not all the calc that goes on in dsp, synthesis etc...
Novation would make a killing!
