  • You can change the scale and base note of the pads. You can't do custom scales though.

  • I've been sticking with following the same layout for the knobs that Novation uses already when making my patches with the editor. Knobs 1-2 control OSC functions, 3-6 control filters and envelops, 7-8 control effects. At least usually. I figure it's better to stick with same the functionality in case I give them away, and it just makes sense to me as well.

  • thank you for the info, appreciate it.

I want a novation circuit so bad now
Good thing my birthday is coming up.

  • @Tarekith -- I like your video review of Circuit very much. You covered about everything and kept it interesting. I was already desiring this and with you giving it two thumbs up, well I'm more than convinced that it's a good machine and that I want one.

  • It's loads of fun, I was serious when I said I think it's one of the best grooveboxes around.

  • @TozBourne @Tarekith I agree, top video and certainly helped me to make the right decision. I've just hooked Circuit up to my Electribe 2 Sampler and been blown away

  • what's you guys favorite thing about the circuit?

  • @kobamoto so far - workflow, sounds, parameter locks, no menu diving, very tactile and begging to be played, build quality, USB and MIDI, battery power and cheesy little built-in speaker. It rocks!

  • Once you understand the Circuit (takes about 5 mins), everything is just so intuitive. Makes you want to always pick it up (or never put it down!).

  • Tare kith said you couldn't do parameter locks if I'm not mistaken , how did you achieve this... maybe I read him wrong?

  • @kobamoto you sure can - enable record - press and hold required step - twist some knobs

  • ok got'cha, btw is it all sync'd/stepped or is it also possible to automate freely?

  • ok thank you.

Yes you read me wrong :)

  • You can't do p-locks with the sequencer running.

That's what I hoped. Now I got to look for $300 in my couch.

  • I noticed that it says it includes Abelton Lite but is it able to export stems like the current Electribe can?

  • No, there's no export at all. You'd need to solo and record each of your (up to) 8 bars for all 6 parts. Not terribly time consuming, but I see where the export option is nice too. I need to do that myself soon for a bunch of patterns. I made a live set that uses 16 patterns, and I have 16 really cool song ideas I want to work on later on it too. That means all 32 sessions for me are filled right now, and I can't use my circuit to make new stuff until I record the audio and free up more slots.

    Tired of soloing and recording!

  • It's only 6 parts up to 8 bars long :)

  • I tend to record or export a couple hours worth of stuff that gets edited down to a regular track length. More of a 'fix it in post' mentality than tinker it until it is just right on the device or kit.

  • Where I would see Circuit coming into it's own would be live performance, I would have audio loops for the static content in my tunes within Launchpad app, and then use a couple of tweakable synths, and tweakable drums on the circuit, and also a midi keyboard hooked up to it for live playing when needed.

  • Very very tempted to get this.... I mean given the price and great sound. No stem export I suppose I could live with... Too bad the headphone jack is on the bottom as it would have been great for laying on the couch and propping it up on a pillow on my stomach like I do with my ipad heh.

Ahhh, so that's how come you record a couple of hours worth for editing later....lol

I use a right angled jack for this very reason!
