  • Sorry Monzo.. Spell check mongo-ized you again!  "Never mind that S**t ... Here comes MONZO!!" :)
  • @WaveMachineLabs do you have a published list of supported SFZ opcodes somewhere? Or can you tell me if "all the SFZ opcodes, even obscure ones" is referring to v1 or v2 of the SFZ spec? http://www.sfzformat.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
  • The new Auria Pro manual should have the opcodes listed (if not, let us know and we'll update it).  Lyra supports SFZ 1.0 opcodes, but we have a few of our own in there as well.

There might be a little confusion here between the update and the upgrade.  We released both at the same time.

Auria 2.0 is a free update.  Lots of bug fixes and performance enhancements for the existing user base.

Auria Pro is an upgrade.  Three years worth of development went into it, and it offers tons of brand new features.  That's why we're charging for the upgrade.  But the update to Auria 2.0 is free (as it should be).

I'm not confused, I knew the new version was going to be a paid upgrade and I'm more than happy to pay for the work.

When I bought Auria it was a toss up between it and Cubasis. On the forums the new version was said to be released some time in the Spring, with a discount of 50% for existing users.

I understand it's taken longer than expected that's not a problem for me, though I've had to put up with bugs in the current version in the meantime, but the upgrade pricing seems to be more than we were expecting.

Yes, I spotted the upgrade link in Auria Menu Store link but the price is $39.99. If US price for Auria pro is $49.99 I guess that means, since the full price in UK store is £39.99 it will cost £29.99 to upgrade? Not exactly 50% discount.
The 50% discount was widely promoted, and one of the reasons I bought Auria instead of Cubasis. If there's one thing I really hate, it's being misled on pricing. I won't buy this without the discount I was promised.

That's not how I remember it. I don't recall ever being promised anything specific by Rim or WML. There were rumors about the upgrade being $25 but I don't recall ANYONE from WML ever saying this. I recall Rim saying there was going to be a discount for current Auria users but no specific price was ever mentioned. I'm happy to be proven wrong (with real proof not rumors). Sure I'd like it to be cheaper too but it isn't so I'll get over it. Good thing I recently bought a $100 iTunes card for $80.

This upgrade would cost a whole lot more on a computer and no one is being forced to buy it. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but for the relatively low price of all iOS apps there sure is a sense of entitlement coming from a lot of the users on this forum. This is just an observation, I am not trying to start anything.
  • monzo, not sure where you're finding 50% off.  We've been very careful not to mention any sort of upgrade pricing, because we hadn't decided on the upgrade price until this week.  The only mention of 50% off was a sale that we ran from June until yesterday at for the full version of Auria 1.55 (50% off).

  • Alright, so I'm relieved there will be an update for LE with the €10 discount to upgrade to pro and my IAPs will carry over. Now if I only hadn't spent all my money (and more :-/) on an iPad Pro which still hasn't shipped 10 days after I payed for it I would get the pro upgrade right when it becomes available. First world problems, I guess.

yes, looks like removed but used to work though

    Auria, I'm in I'd say
  • @monzo, for what it's worth, I remember this as others are stating. General thought was it'd be $25 but that was always only speculation.

I'm still on an iPad 3 so I guess I'm gonna wait for a sale anyway. :) $40 is much cheaper than a new iPad!
  • OK restore purchases worked within the upgraded Auria and I see all my purchases. Before I purchase the Auria Pro upgrade I'd like some confirmation that they are all going to be available within Pro or are any of them going to be lost for example Pro-C and Pro-Q (because they are now version 2) and they are no longer available in the store.
As for Pro-Q and Pro-C if I want to upgrade to version 2 within Auria Pro (if they are still available within Auria Pro) do I have to pay the full price to upgrade? Or is there a discount offer available if you already have version 1? my upgrading to Auria Pro is very much dependent on this.

Exactly, post the proof. It seems obvious people are confusing the fact that they bought it for %50 off, with the price the Auria Pro upgrade was eventually going to be.
  • My Auria will sound like a Pro someday I guess ...
  • Though I'm looking forward to reports on the piano roll/MIDI in general. I might upgrade to it just for the discreet  MIDI outs—I don't own a piano roll style MIDI app that will allow you to select the *port* per track. As far as I know, there's only Cubasis, MTS and now AuriaPro in that particular camp.

@WaveMachineLabs presuming I'm not using internal instruments/plugins, reckon MIDI out only will work smoothly on an iPad 3?

@WaveMachineLabs How are in-app purchases restored? I'd like to use the plug-ins I've previously bought within Auria, but the Auria Pro 'restore purchases' doesn't seem to have any effect.

@WaveMachineLabs Ok, at the risk of sounding a bit dense: Auria and Auria Pro have separate listings in the App Store. If I purchase Auria Pro, I have a brand new app that costs US $50. Then if open my older Auria app, there is an an upgrade that costs $40. If I upgrade my Auria app, will I now have two separate instances of Auria Pro on my iPad?
  • @PsYAuM  yes, when you upgrade from Auria to Auria Pro, all your purchases are automatically restored.  No need to do anything else.

@Zetagy  There are two ways to restore purchases:  Option #1: Upgrade from Auria to Auria Pro.  As soon as you do this, the purchases are automatically restored.  Nothing else to do.  Option #2: buy the full version of Auria alongside your existing one.  In this case, there's a button in the setting page in Auria Pro that lets you transfer purchases from Auria to Auria Pro.  You just need to make sure you update Auria to 2.0 before you do this.

    ^ Easy process.

    1) I updated Auria to Auria 2.0.

    2) Downloaded Auria Pro. (Separate App!)

    3) Went to settings in Auria Pro, bottom right. "Transfer Purchases From Auria"

    4) 1 minute later everything is there in Pro.

    I Love It.

    Cheers Rim! :-)
  • I'm thankful they added the graphic update for free, I couldn't stand the old look.
  • Can I just say for anyone not upgrading yet, but who hasn't updated to version2, it works so much smoother on my Air2 ios9.1 than the old version of Auria did.
  • I for one liked the old vintage look. Downloading the update anyways...
  • I love the new look. I'd love for the boxes around each section in the mixer to go away though (or at least fade by 50-70%). Vertical lines I get but the horizontal ones along with the rounded corner boxes just feel like stuff getting my eyes' attention that don't need it.

And I still hope Rim will one day drink my 'single large button to toggle back and forth between mix and edit views' kool-aid. And a large play button in the top right. Less thinking/aiming, more corner mashing/music making. :)

Didn't even notice the price, I made sure I put that together from January. With discount cards etc.

This app is not just a game changer. It's a Life changer.

    Bless!

  • AU hosting ?
  • AU hosting is coming in a future update.

Damn it, my apologies Rim, looks like I was the guy guessing at $25 in early 2014:

    @AQ808 said:

You can't "support virtual instruments" without a midi implementation, sorry.

And you can't have a "big Auria update" and not have a midi implementation, especially when I'm sure his focus is on overtaking Cubasis, which does have that capability.

But, there almost certainly will be an IAP to get access to these features, and I'm guessing it will come in around $25.

As always, getting my projections in before the event occurs.

Of course, at that point, I thought it was going to merely include a basic midi editor, and it was only my "guess" at that.

Aurio Pro has far more things than that now, between both the included sample player and the two Fabfilter synths, but also tons of other things: http://auriaapp.com/Products/auria

Not sure you should hold Rim's feet to the fire for something I was "guessing" at in March of 2014
  • No one is confusing anything.. Let's set the matter straight. $10 off a $50 app is a 20% discount.. Which could easily be seen as a bit of a slap in the face for those that purchased the original Auria at a similar price. Things look even more slanted for UK auria users when you see that the App Store pricing means that they are paying an extra $6 above US users on top of that .. Which kind of brings the discount down to 8%.  Really not a whole lot of difference from purchasing the whole program again!
No ones pointing the finger at Rim. Apple don't make things easy or fair ..  I want Rim to succeed..  But previous supporters are clearly the main customer base for this upgrade.. If they are chagrined... Well.. It will be reflected in revenue..
The question is .. What can be done?
  • edited December 2015

@WaveMachineLabs Well, seems now I'm the proud owner of two Auria Pro instances. I have a few days to consider whether its necessary, but it's interesting to know this is possible.
