If you check the link just posted by @Hmtx you will see that Rim did try and quash it over on the Auria forum. His response to the pricing post last February was "That's not correct. We haven't announced any upgrade pricing."
It's obvious there was no intent to mislead:
http://auriaapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12809&p=37709&hilit=Rim+upgrade#p37709
That's how I recall WML's handling of AuriaProGate - no pricing information/speculation came from Rim.
On the other hand, Auria Pro is a brand new product with entirely new features. Two powerful synthesizers, a sample player with a 4GB library, MIDI support, real-time audio warping, etc. etc. It might as well have a different name. But I decided to call it Auria Pro. And I also decided to give Auria users a break on the price. I didn't have to do that. Seems fair to me.

Great post and spot-on simplifying summary. And also interested in an answer to your QUESTION.
Looking forward to using the upgrade of Auria but have shot my considerable bolt lately and am going to have to do some jobs around the house/scour the sofa for lost coins etc. before I get the new version (which I definitely will). Christmas is indeed coming however and I think it might be on the list, helps to get some buy-in (literally) from the Managing Director. For now happy to work with the free upgrade, although there will come a time where I will go on about how I miss the teak love handles etc...
Sorry... I'm definitely gone this time
- offer minor updates to x.x versions for free. Auria's original 1.x updates and the 2.0 update seems to fall in this category
- Offer x.0 major version upgrades at full price of the original app (MS office, for example). Auria Pro could fall in this category(new major version; full price). Some developers do give discounts to existing customers of previous version releases, but not expected.
@Rim has been kind to offer any discount to Auria users who want Auria Pro. Lets lay off the guy and get back to making use of his hard work It looks stunningLooking forward to trying it out someday.
There is yellow color for the title seated inside the midi slot, however, It seems that Version 2 upgrade to Pro made me confusing now. Any comment?
this is the kind of comment we normally don't see around here (yes, I can tell you are joking and you didn't name anyone, but still...)
You delete yours and i'll delete mine ;-) ;-)
I don't smoke, by the way.
@syrupcore, @Redo1, most definitely playable on mini1 here. Reasonably.
Help, please! Anyone?
Great experience on inserting notes, at least better than what I experienced on other apps.

Rim, wasn't this posted earlier in the year? For the people who bought Auria then whilst waiting for the update? There are complaints going on on Facebook that they were misinformed...This is what's being said: The quote from the forum. Auria Pro will be available Spring 2015 and will be priced at $49.99. Existing Auria users will be able to purchase an in-app upgrade to Auria Pro for a reduced price. Pricing for the standard Auria version will be $24.99."
And no, none of those have been posted by me.
All it says here is that "Existing Auria users will be able to purchase an in-app upgrade to Auria Pro for a reduced price." The reduced price is only $10 off but it never says how much of a discount the Pro version will be.
Maybe the confusion is because people misread this and assumed the standard version is the pro version.
"Existing Auria users will be able to purchase an in-app upgrade to Auria Pro for a reduced price."
That's exactly what is happening!
Rim, could you somehow figure out a way to raise the price even higher for people in England?
