    @RockySmalls ;

WML never mentioned anything about a 50% discount for existing users. It's really that easy.

As for paying for the "Pro", of course you gotta pay. A meager $39.99. Or be happy with the FREE update WML just generously gave you.

You and that ONE other guy would absolutely die from a stroke or something if you had a desktop DAW...wow some people..
  • One thing that must be said, is that WaveMachineLabs have updated Auria for all us older users. That alone has to be commended. They are not forcing an upgrade on us.

£20 is wonderful for the amount of time I have used Auria for and £40 later for the upgrade is still good value for money.

I'll be buying.  I'm holding off a bit though.  I was really hoping for an MPC-type sampler, so it looks like I'll still be using Beatmaker 3 when it's released for laying groundwork to transfer into Auria for mixing & mastering.  [sigh]

Damn it, my apologies Rim, looks like I was the guy guessing at $25 in early 2014:

monzo, not sure where you're finding 50% off.  We've been very careful not to mention any sort of upgrade pricing, because we hadn't decided on the upgrade price until this week.  The only mention of 50% off was a sale that we ran from June until yesterday at for the full version of Auria 1.55 (50% off).

    Rim

I've seen $25/£18.99 mentioned a number of times on various forums and blogs, and no, I'm not going to spend the next hour seeing if the posts are still there. When I bought Auria my understanding was I'd be able to upgrade to the new version for a 50% discount. As @Rockysmalls has pointed out, there's a pretty poor discount for existing UK customers now, particularly considering the amount of time we've had to wait for a bug fix for the existing version.

I love using Auria despite it's quirks, and I've recommended it to a lot of people, but regardless of the strength of feeling against me on here I still stand by my comments and feel I'm not getting the deal I expected. And I don't want comments on how 'cheap' everything is considering I've spend over a thousand quid on apps and hardware over the last few years. I've supported this platform so commenters going on about how cheap apps are shut the flip up.

I won't be spending another £30 on the update, so you've lost a loyal customer. Shame, because the new version looks great.

  • Can we get a donation can set up for the starving third world iPad Audio-producing children of England, please?

    Fuck off
  • Can somebody please tell me if the Pro-Q & C upgrades to version 2 are full price or if there is a discount for those who already have version 1?

I have no doubt you will not go out of your way to prove your assertion, none whatsoever.
  • Oh! @ChrisG .. I really am not THAT guy.. Having worked professionally in music and sound since 1988 I can assure you that I have paid UNTOLD amounts of money for desktop software especially in the late 90's. Most is in the bin..  Read my post on the maths of this.. An 8% upgrade discount for a previous supporter of this program is a 'little' bit of a chiz to say the least..  The 50% discount is probably only rumour but the question is "what is fair" " what separates supporters of this program from people jumping on the bandwagon now it is up to full spec? • Well had my 1st crash on it (AuriaPro) after just 15 mins of playing with it

only one audio track and one midi track on an Air2

  • edited December 2015
I have been happily running Auria on an iPad Air 1 with iOS 8. Today I notice that the file size of Aurio 2.0 is almost triple the file size (760mb) of the previous version, Aurio 1.1555 (261mb). I'm wondering how this will affect RAM usage and overall performance.

Query for anyone who is running Aurio 2 with Air 1 hardware: does Aurio 2.0 run as smoothly as the previous version? (I realize that it didn't run smoothly at all on iOS 9, because Audiobus was broken. By "smoothly" here, though, I mean: is the app still responsive? do you have to freeze tracks more often?)
  • Hmm, whatever happened to our wonderful and warm little community of mature and moderate dudes? And for people who really don't want to support WML there's still MTS and Cubasis with upcoming free goodies. I know I will upgrade, though. Just not yet, maybe x-mas...

There is an update coming soon after release, the Live version is a few versions ago to the one we are testing now. Hopefully that should fix your crashing bug.
  • Am downloading the free (!) update now, look forward to trying it out. Nice one !

The UK upgrade price is pretty steep, but (as has been pointed out) it's the Apple weasels that are responsible for that. I have to say, I took the mooted upgrade price / 50 % off thing on the forum with a pinch of salt...
  •
^empty post in order to promote peace and tranquility on the forum.
  • I'm disappointed in the upgrade price, but I think it's more than fair.  Hard work to put out an app like this.  Compensation is well deserved.
  • @monzo if the 50% discount rumour did not originate from WML then it's a little unfair to complain about it IMO. It's a misunderstanding for sure, but if Rim states that they never released any pricing info I would believe him, and it's not reasonable to expect him to honour what was essentially nothing but an internet rumour.
  • Hi, I have a mini 1st generation.
happy to be excluded from this conversation.

I'd set up a Patreon account for these poor people. But, Patreon just started adding 25% VAT for EU citizens. This is of course a decision that Patreon have no control over since it's completely out of their hands. But I still totally blame Patreon for absolutely no reason at all, and I refuse to deal with those scumbags anymore. Something like that...yep...
  • Gotta join in and say give my initial impressions for the upDATE, Auria 2.0: It loaded with my last project intact and exactly as I'd left it (EPIC!). All of my plugins were in place and running, in both frozen and unfrozen tracks. All appeared installed from my insert drop down menu. Love the new look.

The new look is snifty, and I have to wonder how much the vector graphics are reducing the CPU load, or whether it's general improvements under the hood. I'm on an Air 1, and adding the Pro-L used to bump my CPU up by 10-15%. Now it's closer to a 5% hit. And that's with 2x Dithering on, although I don't know why I dither ...

The upgrade path is easy to see. The legacy Pro-C and Pro-Q are still supported, so you won't lose those. You don't lose anything. WML knows what they're doing. Yeah, it's $39.99 if you want to go Pro, but that 40 bucks also gets you a sampler, lots of MIDI goodness, time BPM and signature tracks, transfer of all your existing plugins (including legacy), external hard drive support, oh - and a new synth. Fair 'nuff. I wants it, but will probably wait for Christmas.

QUESTION: I'd also like to get a compatible hard drive, since my Auria app is currently hogging almost 50GB out of an available 114 or so. I've had the SansDisk Lightning/USB drives recommended to me by a good source - any opinions out there on that drive or any others? The more GB the better, so long as it plays nice with Auria PRO. Also, does PRO let you "see" directories on an external drive, like the way you can view and transfer files to and from Dropbox currently? That project/file level visibility and transfer would be AWESOME.

SUMMARY: Free Auria 2.0 upDATE - everything's there, no restore necessary. Runs more efficiently. Looks gorgeous. Auria Pro upGRADE path is clear and present if you want it. Looking forward to reports/vids/reviews from early PRO adopters :)

Neither here nor there, the damage is done for me. Enjoy the new thing.

  • A few facts, just to try to clear things up:

this is post by Anthony Alves mentions the (erroneous) upgrade price

    http://auriaapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12809&p=37709&hilit=Rim+upgrade#p37709

His source seems to be this article which no longer mentions a discounted price. http://ipadmusic.com/blog/2015/02/10/auria-and-auria-le-is-50-off/
