    Quick poor test with a little Geoshred:

    Nice vibe but i think you've got me interested in GeoShred now, rather than these 'come latelys that appeared round our festive table.

    Well, that was a random noodle 'live' with no idea what I was upto much (par for the course), but I can tell you for sure that given the choice of having one or the other it would be Geoshred I'd take. Room for both, but one feels utilitarian and very good at what it does, but the other feels like music and I will stumble with it and make a lot of rubbish, but I will also make bits of noise I can't otherwise much imagine making....

    A couple more tips that confused me at first ;

    ⬆️⬇️⏫ = copy , paste , paste to all , for tracks & patterns

    To play chords you need to program a vertical column in SEQ Lane ,
    But for same chord shape for all pattern you could just set the column on Step 1 & loop that single step . It is interaction with ORDER Lane x STEPS in Pattern Control that determines Length & Rythmn of Pattern .

    Chord Memory Slots can be used either by
    A. ChordMem Lane for sequencing within pattern or
    B. CM Trigger button ( Top Left Corner ) to play the chord in slot using a single keyboard note in realtime .
    However , the base note under the chord in the slot needs different placement for the one or other .
    So if you want to use ChordMem to sequence chords C,F,G in slots 1,2,3 by playing a single note on keyboard e.g C2 , all 3 chords need the SAME base note C2 under the chord in each slot. Then program 1,2&3 in ChordMem Lane .
    For CM Trigger the base note is fixed at a different note for each slot , so chord C slot1 = base note C2 , chord F slot2 = base note C#2 , chord G slot 3 = base note D .

    UPDATE : so playing keyboard 2 notes above C2 basenote in above example with CHORDMEM will Transpose the whole pattern 2 notes higher , whereas there is no keyboard Transpose with CMTrigger As it plays whatever chord is in the slot fixed to that note .

  • Welcome @Wally and your insight is really welcome.

  • Thanks ( & glad to jump over at last , been watching you through the glass for years ,feel I know many of you , have many thanks to give for what I've secretly learnt from here )

    Finally before I slumber ,

    ACCENT Lane works relative to Track Vol & Global Vol ( which all seem to affect midi velocity NOT CC7 ) so leave headroom & experiment for each synth for optimum use.

    GATE affects length of synth played note , but NOT timing of next step .
    LENGTH affects timing of next step , delaying its start .

    Copy/Paste in Lane Toolbar (mainpage & quick edit ) can be used for Step On/Off data between different Lane types , even though the graph data is different & wont be copied .
    So if you program a complex rythmn using Step On/Off on one lane you can transfer it to another easily , if only for visual reference to help program another lane step values .

  • Btw. you can get a free version (with some features removed) of Kirnu Cream AU/VST if you buy a copy of Computer Music. If you wanna get an idea how good it is :)

  • Thanks again @Wally. Glad you broke on through. Spent an hour or two with this tonight (I bought the ticket; what else could I do?) and most of it was ineffectual, but I kept at it because of the feeling that it's all right there.

    As someone else said earlier we largely fall into unknown camps on these things. Something like Different Drummer, which I can admire, causes me to do little more than grow dizzy, not with the complexity but the certainty that I can't make the leap. Could I if alone with no other entertainment on a desert island? No doubt, but still... this thing however (and a few others) has that feel about it (to me).

  • Just to inform you about Cream Mobile release: The initial version had incorrect binary from 6 months ago. v1.01 will be released soon with correct binary. My bad :)

    I wonder how the old version works this good even though we have fixed many, many bugs after that :)

    Thanks Arto, at the moment no apps show up in midi out list even though you can select Cream from other apps. Will this change in the v1.01?

    Geoshred is definitely on my list but I'm also interested in these new fellahs, Cream and Modstep. I like the backing you've got there JG - how easy/hard would it have been to change key for a section?

  • No factory songs or synth presets everthing empty. Is it normal?

    I have the same issue. Maybe it will get sorted when he uploads the current binary not the one from 6 months ago.....

  • Glad I decided to wait on this purchase now. Perhaps when it is updated I will take the plunge. Tutorials will definitely be required it seems.

  • @gdog thanks for the help, I got some sounds out of it now :)

    I'll wait for the update before delving again though.

  • Can't buy the app on my country App Store.

  • Could you post the price of IAP? Thanks.

    Can't get any sound out of this thing at all. Pretty animations are tantalising me, but no audio, either from the internal synth or from one connected via virtual MIDI.

    I can only assume I'm missing something both basic and obvious, but I've switched every button and twiddled every knob and nada.

    Me too, have you figured out how to make some noise?

    Hi!
    Tap the Instrument editor button in the top left, then in the Osc section, under Voice 1 select a voice, eg 12 string, then play the Cream keyboard. To play another app, tap the settings cog in the top right, go to the midi out setting and select network midi, then in another app, eg animoog, set Cream as midi in.

    All the best! :)

    Geez, wish I knew that last night after wasting 2 hours................

    Five bucks

    Maybe a nice manual or tutorial vid will come with the IAP for us dummies who had issues with the app.

  • It's a job for TSTR me thinks?

  • edited December 2015

    Hopefully the creators already have some tutorials almost done and will release them sooner than later. Given that more than a few people are struggling it perhaps would be the best move for sales.

    Oops , seems a much earlier version has been released .
    The correct version 1.01pics is shown on appstore , with better Touch UI , well implemented midilearn functions , Panic button , ALL button , numeric Knob values & saveable midi connections ;
    another few months of improvements & fixes are DONE & only an update away , on the positive.

    Midi Connection problems :
    Have you enabled " Connect Midi Devices automatically" in Settings / Settings
    (top right corner CogWheel ) . This will add any active virtual/external midi port to Midi Input/Output lists in Settings .
    I have Virtual synths Animoog, Addictive & Sunrizer all working fine here, as well as my usual @15 external midiports .
    Remember to set each Tracks MidiOutput channel to match receiving synth .

    Also as I mentioned previously Track Note Range is important. It is the ( editable) range of INPUT notes each Track will respond to . Cream defaults to small seperate keyboard zones for each track to simplify INTernal Keyboard use , so check you are not playing outside that zone or the engine will not play . (INPUT )Playable range is C2 -C8 . C1-C2 is used for Pattern changes from keyboard so dont play too low on keyboard ." Base" , next to NoteRange in TopLeft Corner can be used to lower or higher the OUTPUT range of the engine .

    Hi there,

    Kirnu Cream people, somebody come out to say a word, why there is no international app purchase? Few people asked you many times? You are really on silent side?
    I wonder what is your customers services?

    +1

  • I'm only a betatesting user so I dont know why Cream isnt showing in Apple store search ,
    But the Audiobus FB page link worked for me :
    http://ift.tt/1JsG5OK
    Doesnt this work for you ?

    I know how hard the dev has worked on this . In fact I've realised since I posted about " his 9 months hard work " , that was ONLY since we started betatesting . Goodness knows how much longer he spent coding the alpha ?!
    He has been very responsive to suggestions to make Cream the best possible , and there is much more to be implemented .

    There are Youtube tutorials for Cream VST & even a PC Demo version on Kirnu site.
    There is also a manual , although I admit non native English makes it a little confusing .

    I hereby apologise to Arto & new users that I never quite found the time to finish Tutorials , Manual rewrites or Videos that I may have optimistically hoped to do . I'm still embroiled in learning a graphics app to complete a planned graphic tutorial on the ChordMem slots which I outlined in boring words earlier , & I dont yet have necessary video kit or skills .
    I have even more admiration for single handed devs who manage all of this in addition to their coding ( & maybe dayjob & family ) .

    I am here to help as best I can though . Cream has a unique feature set missing in our IOS toolbox , it is a hybrid of other arp & mono/chord sequencers & can be a primary creative , interactive midi compositional tool . The release has not been ideal but CreamMobile is worth support for the creative benefits it brings.

    This seems pretty temperamental when it comes to MIDI In response. Latency, and it keeps everything played on a hold function even when hold is turned off.

    Specifically, trying to trigger Cream's keyboard (which I don't like, way too easy to fat finger and wind up in the pattern sequencer) from a QuNexus, to arpeggiate NeoSoul Keys.

  • Thank you @Wally and Arto for coming :) very anticipated and now here, Cream. I like it, oldschool, very good.

    @Wally
    Thanks for infos!
    @Kirnu
    Thanks for the app, even with the wrong binary it's pretty crazy cool!
    Btw if you enable the "automatically connect to MIDI" function in this present version, and try anything tricky with MIDI (like connect a synth to Cream and Cream to a DAW) Cream crashes upon opening, and won't reopen until it's deleted and reinstalled...to quote someone who knows better MIDI on iOS is a train wreck...I don't think the problem is the Cream code, even if it's the older code...
