Well, while we've got a moment, which Walton were you?
the last one
Although I'm anticipating AUM as much as anybody I suppose... trying not to set myself up with unreasonable expectations here. Has this anticipation gone beyond a hysterical fever pitch?!
I mean, it's just likely a solid, lightweight iOS mixing hub isn't it? Can't really see it as an epiphanic dawn of a new age or anything.
Or, am I missing something?
okay so Tom over at the iPad group has let me know that the file players cannot be sequenced by patterning/another app..... maybe a good future feature request..... Still can't wait for the app to drop!
depends on what you get out of it skip, could very well be epic!
I know... just trying not to get myself set up for disappointment. Though, I haven't been disappointed with any of @j_liljedahl products... even the free ones. Though, it doesn't look like his free Nord Beat midi sequencer doesn't appear to be supported by his AudioShare or AudioBus. Kind of like it too. Maybe it'll be compatible with AUM.
Hmm didn't know Node Beat was j's too. Cool
No, it's a different one. NOT Node Beat. "NORD Beat" Not "Node" It's just a midi sequencer, but it's nicely done and straight forward.
It's not under his Kymatica brand, but it's listed on his site as an app he did for a client.
dis be funny: from discchord.com
Fired: _ As a beta tester, I'm breaking confidence by saying this, but I love it and there's no going back. The bedrock for professional music production on iOS is AUM and it's finally here. Big words, I know, but I mean it. Brilliant._
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house...
AUM.....AUM.....AUM.....
Nice!!'
Everytime I get excited about new ways to use a bunch of apps together, especially something like this with its MIDI controllable mixer.... I then remember that Gadget is listening to everything midi. Uhg. Hopefully the Gadget update that is coming out with their new controllers will address this.
Sweet. Tomorrow's gonna be a lot of fun.
In what way do you mean sequenced? They can be started and stopped via MIDI. Starting them will then wait for the next sync quantum and start them exactly on the beat. Good for a MIDI foot controller, etc.
Not Node Beat, but Nord Beat, which I was hired by Clavia/Nord to make as a companion app for their Nord Drum hardware. But it works equally well for other hardware too!
I was thinking of loading up one shots and then assigning them to patterning and sequencing them with different fx on each channel?
I see! The FilePlayers are streaming from disk (so they can play very long files), but this also means they're not suited for that kind of rapid triggering. That would be best done right inside Patterning itself. I'm sure Patterning will soon have separate IAA output ports so you can route them on different channels in AUM
Is there a manual? Would be a nice way to keep myself occupied while I wait for the big unveiling.
Multiple AB/IAA-Outputs per instrument / midi-channel is something music apps should have built-in 'by-design'.
This would make it possible to precess each sound individually (say for example multiple outputs from Boom 808/909). If patterning gets this it will be an USP(Unique Selling Point) until the others 'catch up'
Drum perfect pro, auria pro, loopy hd and modstep already have multiple outs.
Amen on apps having multiple outputs!
Speaking of, does AUM have multiple outputs? I asked earlier; I may have missed the answer. The recording capabilities in AUM sounds awesome but it would also be great to be able to select each output as separate tracks in our linear DAW of choice. AUM has 1001 potential use cases—one of them is the input/output mixer MTD never had.
Yes, it has 4 separate AB/IAA output ports, that can be chosen as outputs for each channel instead of hardware out or mix bus. I could add more ports in future updates if needed!
As far as I've understood, since it can output different tracks to different files in AudioShare, multiple out is in its core. Dunno if its gonna work like Auria with busses on external gear.
cool, thanks ,
I've uploaded the built-in manual here: http://kymatica.com/aum/help.html
Bless you, J Lilla.
Speaking of, think we need a Dilla beat to ride the time with. This one could have easily been done in AUM. Two channels of the piano loop with a LPF and aufx:space, two drum machine channels with a LPF and aufx:push (snare channel), aufx:push + aum limiter on the master and musical use of channel mutes. As deliciously minimal as Kymatica design.
Wow. Cool workflow. So I can record a performance on a node as a loop and then load it as a File Player node.
