Yeah, those both will probably come in some form or another, in a future update. Maybe in the form of a full screen "performance mode", which would be landscape on iPhone.
It'd be cool to bring in a folder of clips from AS as a multi-head file player (w/ separate controls for each) so you wouldn't have to load them in laboriously one-by-one. Then I don't have to go to a separate clip launcher and load a new session, etc. You could basically build a set list in AS and load it into AUM on the fly! Again, may not be where @j_liljedahl wants to go with this app, though.
Great )
Is is possible to modulate or midi learn the sliders/knobs of each channel?
I'm trying to hook midiLFOs to the AUM sliders/knob without success yet(certainly my fault)
AUM is definitely midi controllable, and has midi assign and learn for all the controls in the settings... I'll let you know my progress in the process
This app is some kind of lost in the flow machine. My only problem so far is constraining all the ways it can be used, which isn't really a problem at all. Full screen performance mode would be so so welcomed. Cheers on this creation!
Heads up: The intro price will end the 1st of March!
second that!! pitch bend and/or mod wheel would be sweet!!
@j_liljedahl
Thank you ,thank you,thank you.
Just replaced an entire FX rack with my phone.
@j_liljedahl It's a solid 1.0 release too, which is rare on iOS. Thanks for working out the bugs ahead of time, it's nice to be able to use something right out of the gate.
+1
It works. And is the epitome of workflow. Of course I could record eight different things into Auria (with a little luck and a fair wind), but running them up one on top of another into AUM and then taking them over for editing into Auria thereafter is a creative opportunity that has already led me to making things with far more fluidity and connectedness (in style as well as technical ease). A major step forward.
Unfortunately, with all this technology and development, we are still largely stuck with making loops and copy/pasting with general pasteboard...... :-( Thumbs down.... :-(
Yay!!!!!
+1!

There are no modulation sources within the app but yes, they're all midi learnable. You can also, thankfully in this case, set the CCs manually as well. I find entering the CC directly a lot easier than doing the back-and-forth MIDI learn between apps!
How do I use any of the looper apps within AUM? I couldn't find any of the ones I have in the IAA list. Is that where AB is needed then?
Which looper apps are you referring to? Any app that can be an Audiobus input app or effect app has automagically implemented IAA and will thus show up in the IAA lists of AUM or any other host.
However, if you want to route the output of something in AUM into Loopy, then you would use Audiobus to connect them.
Well, I was trying to route 3 tracks to a mix bus and from there I was hoping I could just add Loopy or Group The Loop or whatever works. I did find Ostinator so I'll see if that would work for me. But I think it'll all have to be sent to AB for what I want to do. Would be good to know, though if any other looper would work for this within AUM.
This is where I wish @Sebastian, @Michael and @j_liljedahl got married and conceived a child called ALBUM (AudioLooperBusUnitMixer) . Imagine all these great ideas of AB3, AUM and Loopy Masterpiece combined into one slick app! I'm not quite sure how likely something like this would be. Triple gay marriage across 3 countries AND a natural child... Oh well, one can dream
So here's exactly what I'm trying to do: I have a double neck guitar and bass. The signals are separate and coming in on 1 and 2 from the ica4+. They should stay separate and individually mutable (MIDI with 12 Step) running through different FX and into Loopy (or another looper) where they can then be recorded separately. After recording I want to be able to turn the individual tracks on and off as well but maybe it can be done with MIDI bindings within Loopy. So is this possible at all with AUM? My head is aching trying to figure it out. Maybe I should make a drawing to make it all clear.
EDIT: I think I'm getting there. Just need some more time to figure out some of it later. But I guess the way to go is doubleneck>aum>ab>loopy. Would be great if I could bring it all back to AUM separately after that but I'm not sure how.
If it helps any, I've been still using AB/MiMix as my "sub-mixer" and AUM as my final output mixer.
Sure, you can also add loopy>aum in the same setup, having the loopy outputs go through additional channels in AUM, etc.
doubleneck>aum>ab>loopy is the first part. You can also bring the Loopy signals back into AUM but you can only bring them in either as Loopy Master or as individual Loopy tracks. Loopy does not yet support busses. It's easy enough to add each Loopy track (and save it so you can use it again later) but the screen fills quickly!
AUM could definitely do with a 'narrow channel' view of some sort. It's the sort of app the encourages rampant experimentation. Suddenly, there are three screens of channels!
Edit: You'll need to make sure you don't create a feedback loop. There's a few different ways to set it up but some of them will involve toggling "Input Monitoring" within the Loopy settings. If you're not hearing anything or you just blew up your speakers, check that switch.
Might be cool to one day have an optional 'Connect all Outputs' macro type thing when adding an IAA generator to a channel. Then you could have the 12 Loopy channels (or 4 TJ channels or...) in an instant. Hashtag Lazy American.
Thanks for your help, guys. I pretty much got it now. Turning off monitoring in loopy was a good one. Now I routed 2 tracks back from loopy>aum. I was a little puzzled about the order of tracks in loopy. I was in landscape view and I thought top left should be 1, the next to the right 2 etc. but it turns out those are then 3 and 6 because the layout is as expected in portrait mode and doesn't turn 90° when horizontal. So in landscape it goes from bottom to top and then left to right... Confusing but now I got it. Now I still need to add some tracks for synth and drums. I hope it'll be somewhat stable.
Yeah, the Loopy track order thing is a doozy. If you remember that it started life as a portrait only iPhone app, the order makes more sense (left to right, top to bottom).
Really? For me it's right to left, which I've never been able to fathom.
So pissed. Just heard of this. Its 11:30 NYC TIME, and it's already gone to $20. Still Feb. 29th, here! Should have stayed @ $10 until it was Mar. 1 everywhere.
