@fjcblanco factually the arp presets from laplace, lorentz and mersenne are compatible, except the filename ending; thus rename 'arp1.laplace_arp' or 'arp2.lorentz_arp' to 'arp3.mersenne_arp' and ifunbox to the arpeggiator folder.
I went ahead and bought it. At $3.99 it's less than a pint at the tavern. Lovely sounding. Enjoy the UI, too.
Would be fun to share creations at some point. I dig @johnfromberkeley 's xylophone and saved it for myself.
Cool - this one I can actually run (like Laplace). Price is right too. I like the percussive, plucky synths.
I think it's already there and called "Chiang Mai"
Seriously though even though I like Gadget and all the present Gadgets, I'll pick this one up too for standalone play and experimentation.
The Lorentz interface is all on one page as well. Perhaps you were thinking of a different synth?
Way deeper than Chiangmai: one noise OSC, multiple adsr, better arp, more controllable fx.
@JohnnyGoodyear > I like it too BUT it is VERY bell-y (technical term). Would make a fab Gadget
There already is a bell-y gadget.
I'm getting some righteous fuzzy gamelan type stuff out of this... I need a fruity drink for my evening.
yes, my bad
@JohnnyGoodyear, @crzycrs, thanks!
Lots of that for sure.
Insta-buy. Cannot help myself...oh yes, I am sipping a rum& orange juice...
Crashed it messing with the delay. Had to do a reboot. Back up now...
I also had a strange crash, It made the whole audio of the ipad freeze, had to shutdown and restart the ipad to get audio back, it happend only once so far... other than that, this is another gem from icegear, I sequenced it using thesys and ended up make one patch sound like a complete tune !
I'm not sure what makes this different than Laplace. What does this one do that Laplace can't do?
To me the UI layout is more familiar than with Laplace, so that makes a way more usable synth, also I prefer the sounds of Mersenne, all of that is subjective of course
Thanks @pierre . I already have, and like, Laplace and I feel comfortable with the UI. I use Laplace mostly for percussive sounds; I've made great vibe and marimba patches. I still don't see what is different here, but I am interested.
I find it more inviting and easier to use. Very easy on the eyes, which makes a difference. Well worth $3.99 which is still crazy to me.
Thanks @Crawlingwind - I'm wondering more about the sounds than the UI. Can it make sounds unavailable fro Laplace? If so, what kind?
Not ignoring you... I hope to try it some more this weekend. Factory Soundset is much more bell oriented. My first thought when hearing about it was the same as yours, can't Laplace do this? Maybe so, but I'm sure the Dev thinks they are different enough to release as a separate product. I only had a few minutes with it, and was pleased.
Is this thing multitimbral in any way, or do you get the same percussion sound no matter what, just different frequencies of it?
Actually, that’s a thought. It‘d be interesting to have a synth that has vector sections along a keyboard (let’s say, three. No wait, four) whereby the patch is for example patch 01 at the lowest note, then at a selectable break-point, it’s fully patch 25, then at the next break point, fully patch 67, then at the next break point, fully patch 14, then at the top end of the keyboard, fully patch 05. The keys in between will be proportionally in-between the relevant vector section break-point patches. That’d give you about four (fence-post error) five sound types, but the ability to morph between them as you go up and down pitch, without having to be truly multitimbral.
A quick test, using Thesys to sequence Mersenne (One patch)
Which patch is that?
I certainly started from Alhena, but I can't remember exactly
You can mostly/almost do this with a Kurzweil K2000 (and family). It allows both multiple keyboard zones and the ability to assign key tracking as a modulator of anything in the patch, each with user definable slopes. It's really quite amazing, that VAST business.
I think you might be able to do this with two zones, sunrizer (has that morph feature) and Midiflow but don't quote me (unless you pull it off and it's totally amazing).
Laplace uses resonator synthesis.

Mersenne is an FM synth.

IMHO the correct version is: with marsenne you can do what you do with laplace but with laplace you can't do what you can do with marsenne
My first Mersenne mix. Also, my first AUM mix.
