What an amazing world we live in. If you had told someone they could get these types of tones for $3, everyone would have a good laugh.

And yes, I know the iPad itself costs money but still...

    I agree.

    Think of it like this:

If I divide the price of my iPad by the amount of great apps I have on it, I am only adding a few pound to the price of each app ;)

So the total price of iPad and apps costs about the same as one top end synth I used to own :)

So, the more apps you own, the cheaper your iPad gets? I like that line of reasoning!

  • Lovely sound possibilities, great app !

Yep add a Casio PX5s and my overloaded iPad would be one hell of a workstation :)

Let's take it one step further.

Add an iPad Pro as a screen and controller for a Mac Mini to the PX5s and my iPad.

Connect the iPads and Mac to that something4 (forgot its name) midi / audio interface.

Build it into a case and goodbye Korg Kronos :p

Each to their own but I prefer the simplicity of an iPad with little other clutter. Hard to stick to with all the temptations though.

Yeah same here, I just find it difficult to kick the knobs, sliders and pads!

Though I must admit, I am eyeing up that new korg nano key studio thing

  • Yet another crash just now. Same deal - wiped out iPad audio - had to restart machine. Not sure what caused it. Lovely app though.

  • That reminds me to submit an App Store review. Giving 4 stars and explaining the occasional crash prevents the fifth

Yes, I just got a crash here too. I can replicate mine:

iPad Pro (iOS 9.2.1) Korg Microkey Air. Start Korg Module, connect Bluetooth keyboard. Once connected, I close Module.
I start Mersenne, it's the only app running. I can scroll through all presets and play fine, no problem.
I start the arpeggiator, and play a four-note chord, set it to hold, set it to two-octave, still OK.
Once the arp is held and notes are playing, if I start playing with the Decay parameters on the different tones and resonator... gone. Audio shorts out, silence. Bluetooth MIDI is still detected. If I close/restart Mersenne, audio does not return. If I close Mersenne and try Korg Module, audio does not return. Audio only returns if I turn off/turn on iPad Pro.

  • I've also had the sound 'cut out' completely, only rebooting the iPad cures it.
Happens with both Lorentz and Mersenne. Have not fingered the Laplace enough to make it go silent yet.
This on an iPad Air 2, iO9.2.1...

  • It happened to me(total ipad audio crash) only the first time i played with Mersenne, never with Lorentz, I hope they fix it though, those are my two favorite synths currently (They complement each other really well)

  • Yeah, they sound good together. The Mersenne crash is decay related for sure.

  • I have had Laplace and Lorentz cut audio on me in the past . Not yet with Mersenne.
Interestingly I was able to restore the audio by playing a file from my iTunes music via the built in Apple Music app (rather than reboot the iPad). Air 1 iOS 9.2.1. Hope this gets addressed in future updates to these excellent apps.

  • Not seeing any crashing here. Air 1 with 9.2.1

  • I've had 3 so far today. Air 8.4.1.

  • No crashes, 9.2.1

  • No crashes - iPad Air 1, 9.1.2. Also loving the arp on this thing. And the sounds. And the bells. And the whistles :sunglasses:

  • Ditto, no crashes here on Air 1, 9.2.1. Lovely sounding synth at a happy meal price. :)

  • I've had a few crashes. Air 2, latest OS. They happen when changing the settings on decay knobs, especially the resonator's decay. I haven't had to turn off the iPad. I just close Mersenne and reopen it. The patch I'm working on is lost, but otherwise everything is OK. Of course it doesn't happen every time and I haven't figured out why it happens sometimes but not others.

I submitted a 3-star review on App Store. Really deserves closer to 4 but there's so many honeymoon reviews that it's got a 4+ average at the moment - which may make the dev think everything is all hunky dory and sweet bananas with his new app.

Be sure to submit your own ratings/reviews. Making this a 10-page thread of nothing but crash reports is not going to get his attention. App Store ratings/review will.

  • I'm only seeing one video of this app, where's the beef?

That's because everyone is waiting for you to make a video

  • Here's a new one.

  • That video shows the capabilities very well.

  • @Johnba Thanks for posting that.
