  • @BvsMV Perfect accompliment to the birth of this new day. Calm, reflective intro, not rushed or hurried to allow the body & mind to get their bearings before cracking on with the day ahead. The drums kick in (come on body, it's time to move) & they do sound very good from GB. Urgent rhythm that fits with the hooky melody with some nice fills going on. Maybe some bass, maybe not as it marries up with the title......"Do you like the brightness?" Seems apt. Yes, I love the brightness & as I saddle up the mutts for walkies, the sun is also coming alive perfectly in time with your tune. Ah, synchronicity indeed. Good luck with your EP.

I liked this track, a touch of the Rundgren perhaps ? A tad too much verb on the vocal and somewhat hesitant delivery in parts (?). Nicely 'colourful' (tonally), lots of cool guitar textures too.

  • @technemedia It reminds be a bit of Peter Gabriel and Genesis at the beginning :)

@LostBoy85 You are absolutely right, the test into my car confirm also your words. I've reuploaded a new version, voices louder, and used a bit more pans, also changed some minor things to the bass...Hope it's the last version...(I need to check out into my car...again... ;) )

  • @crony just let me know where I can listen to it? Or is it on the original post?

    Original post

  • @crony Much better man! I love this version.Really great job guys!

  • Another great example of how fun collaborating within this community can be! B) @crony @crouchie

  • @LostBoy85
Thanks ! I really wish to work on some other Paul's tracks...Let's see if that happens... :)

  • @ma_therapie as a bed for future rapping/vocals then this is a fine tune, as stands though not enough going on to really hold my interest, but that's not a criticism at all since it's a backing track. Look forward to hearing a future version with vocals. Musically I particularly like the jagged piano rhythm.

  • @crony and @crouchie I think the revisions and extra work have definitely paid off, because the track is much better now, and the vocal really shines through. Good job.

  • @technemedia welcome to the club! I think you are the first developer to post a track in SOTMC, so I think you get some kind of medal for that alone.

I really like the track, it has a strong flavour of late 60s psychedelia about it, reminded me very much of Love's "Forever Changes" both in the musical structure and the vocal delivery. Nice guitar work, good singing - I agree with @Igneous1 about the slight hesitancy in the vocal delivery, but for me that only adds to the whimsical charm of the song, and didn't detract from it at all because it adds a sense of fragility to the song.

I found that the vocal melodies grew on me after repeated listening, which is a good sign. My only criticism is one that applies to any genre-based song: I would really like a stronger sense of innovation and adventure, a blend of the old with something new and more original. In many ways this sound is rife for revisiting, and blending with more contemporary sounds.

But musically and technically it's a great effort, enjoyable to listen to, well structured and is just the right length.

  • Right guys. This month I will fail. It isn't that it hasn't been a productive month, I've gotten the better part of a song done, it just isn't finished, and if I release it in its current state I will leave it behind without finishing it properly, and I think it deserves being finished.

I have also been sidetracked this month with creating (app) videos along with beta testing a bunch of apps etc and hadn't also counted on having 2 weeks off where I take care of the kids. My brain is mush when I reach the evening (which is normally my creative time/space). Will be nice to get back to work next week for some rest. :)

I also long to get back to work after looking after the kids :) Bless 'em. It gets easier as they get older though. Mine are even starting to get into music.

If it's any consolation, you will miss the mush, weirdly.

  • @technemedia Great intro followed by that line "do you wanna be a monkey"......Yes please, a silver back gorilla if there's a choice! Got a tasty 60's feel in the sounds & vocal delivery. Lots of lovely guitar layers, all smoothly mixed well to pick them out individually & coming together seamlessly. What apps did you use, particularly the drums. They sound fabulous with some well timed & played fills. The psychedelic tinge is very welcome & would have made a perfect accompliment to a few naughty shrooms back in the day  Really good, strong song sir......welcome.

  • @crony & @crouchie As a football manager might say..... (Well, not to my team)....."The boys done good."
Yep all your hard work, thoughts, planning, playing & remixing skills are here on show & hitting my ears in the right places. This collaboration fits like a glove & I'm looking forward to any future duetting from you both. Top stuff.

  • @Bluepunk @richardyot thanks , that really motivates me to have such feedback, it's not that often... :)

Put me in the game coach. Here's my inaugural submission. A tune called salt.

Nice beat. I kept waiting for the rap to start. Not so sure sbout the static effect.

    Hey guys,
I'm super happy to present another collaboration with the amazing Marcel!! Woop woop! Last time I wrote on an already finished instrumental of his,but this time we did the whole track from the ground up.Me on lyrics and vocals,Marcel on the backing track and the guitars. This was a really fun project and we hope you like the song. All comments are welcome as always.

    Lyrics.Kingdom come.

She found me washed up on the shore
    A stranger lost,a shipwrecked soul
The life I thought I'd built on stone
    Was drowning in the sand

Her eyes were warm and lighthouse bright
Her lips gave me the kiss of life
The words she spoke so musical
    I longed to understand

Babylon,I see no hell fire here
My kingdom come,is in her eyes

    My sweet Amalie,
if we only have this life,Your love is all I need
For so long I was just a skipping stone, trying to stay afloat
But you gave land to me & so I stay here
At your humble throne,my kingdom come.

She took me home through city walls
And lit a fire to warm my bones
And when she smiled a truth was known
    I'd never be the same

    Babylon,a revelation true
My kingdom come, she put me back together.

Nice song, with great production. Well played and sung. My favourite song of the month.

Liked this a lot. I wasn't sure about the production the first couple of times I played it, just seemed a bit in your face but now I do think it works with overall vibe of the song.

  • @Bluepunk Nice track man! I love the artwork, and the subtle chorus/modulating on your vocals us awesome. I love the more subdued, heavy rock/ slow punk vibe of this one. You have your sound and keep refining it!

Thanks for the feedback on the track! You always put a lot of thought into your writing. I thought about adding more to it, bass, vocals, etc to make it keep growing like you and @crony said, but didn't want to become too bombastic as there is plenty of that later. Thanks guys!

Thanks so much @BvsMV appreciate your positive comments. The artwork is a pic of just some of the gear a poor geezer who I'm trying to help, voluntarily gave me to show willing. (Not the £20 spot) Yes, as you've noticed, the bpm is gradually decreasing as my age increases! Day after day its dropping by 10.

Pleasure. I saw your EP proudly displayed on another site so well done on achieving that. I'm sad though..........."The lights go passing by" didn't make it onto the disc!

Thanks! It was on the one I released in November right when I was putting it up here. I should just put that on every release though I think. Or just quit, that was a happy accident.

  • Hey, @technemedia: loved your song! About the composition, great melody and lyrics. About the production, well balanced, great rhythm guitar, nice balanced and very good vocals. The "guitar" arpeggio sounds like a sampler: is that what it is? Very good entry: congrats!

My apologies sir, how did miss that! In response to that "Q" four letter word: (sorry, I couldn't resist it)

Sometimes, looking "Through a yellow lense" feels confusing, disjointed & a "Resolve to Change" feeds our motivation. But please....don't q..t....."Please don't go." Ask yourself "Do you like the Brightness?" Whether it's yes or no "We've come to far" to turn back. So, a toast to "New beginnings," chill & simply feel "The lights go passing by."
    Think they're all there!

Sorry. Terrible I know & I'm off to take a rest!

Finally a reasonably timed entry! Enjoy!

I'll get to my feedback this weekend. Thanks guys!

Sorry so late! I did enjoy this one, and I wish I could get something together that is as musically adept as that. I agree with the need for a little more ebb and flow in the track, but it kept me engaged all the way through. Good stuff, well done
