and +1 for a user sample bank as well. or some way to integrate audioshare while keeping the audio playing in the background, unless i missed something there.

  • Going to be a grumpus and say I like the layout but find the coloring somewhat dark....

A few questions that have been mostly raised by others:

    *Separate audio channels per track?
*IAA in and out or just audiobus?
*The browser seems to be a big part of the workflow. Is it possible to load one's own samples into the browser to take advantage of this workflow? Personally, I have very little interest in pre-recorded loops

  • edited March 2016

Is there a mixer view and could you add fx per track. Bought it, definitely need a mixer view with some means of monitoring levels , i guess there will be adding launchpad style fx in an update.

  • can you guys load up audio into the slots from your iTunes library?

Also, didn't see anything about sync. MIDI Sync? Link Enabled?

Not just yet, however, we do now have a real-time stretch engine so it's now possible.

Sorry, but as it took 2 years to introduce midi sync with Launchpad, I just don't trust you.
I also don't trust you're doing feedback to your software architect.
I made tons of request, on your official forums, lots of users did ask for the same things over and over, and never been integrated.
It's not about being frustrated because I didn't have my spaceship on xmas (hmm, it is in a way ;) ) , it's about getting a proper app usable !

I believe you're a community manager making a buzz on this forum. You're doing a great job BTW.

Few requests for your apps released 2 years ago at least, that nobody answers on your forums, but I'm sure you'll pass to your devs...yeah right:

    Launchpad :
    -needs Link ,
-one time loop WITH playing to the end of loop BEFORE goes to an other loop.
    -midi sync slave
-midi learn ( I agree minilaunch pad is a great device, but without midi sync or Link, you just make blinking things using your apps...)
-IMPORT/EXPORT of your tracks and parameters !!!! (can you believe that as a pro app, you can never make any backup of anything ???? So new ipad : new everything ???!!)

    Launchkey:
    Great synth, totally useless.
    -Needs Midi sync
    -Link
-Arpegio sync with midi and Link (yeah, crazy I know)
-Midi learn (but it's okay I reverse engined all program change and CC you've been hiding...because it's standard midi, incredible...)
-Organise favorites easily (using midi, yeah do you now about that standard ? It's so cool... and allow organisation of your favs, WITHOUT using your keyboard, what a HUGE feature thing to develop...)

    Blocs wave:
    -Link
-Midi sync (what for ? really I'm such a stupid user...)
    -Midi learn
-Can you save anything with that ? (I mean make backups of your patterns, then transfer them to an other Ipad...wohoo...)

if "it's now possible", why keeping it for later ? Are you waiting to see how many apps you are selling to see how long you can wait till you will not integrate some basic features ?

Sorry, not personal, but you guys at Novation, on IOS app development department (or should I say architect marketing department), are really pissing me off...

  • @ecamburn
Currently it seems you can only load samples into each pad and they delete themselves when unused. No user data in browser. Only default sounds and a store for others sadly.

    @kobamoto
All I can see is audioshare and audiocopy in the import section, no itunes filesharing.

I like the UI and would probably use this app quite a bit to throw ideas together if I could use my own sounds more readily but for now the flow is a little messed up. Fingers crossed for a few refinements, lots of potential here.

  • Wait guys.. I just saw the video.. Kinda like C3nplay? I like it based on what I saw. So "IPad-ey.. This would never happen on a Mac. I'm reserving judgement. Looks really cool, actually .. (automatic 3 points for refraining from saying "Very Cool".

  • @crony I agree LaunchKey need some attention

not too crazy about iTunes file sharing but I'd just like to load up songs from the iTunes library, cause it looks like this interface is good for editing loops, time stretching them , and exporting them.

As I said before what would be good would be if you could start the recording by pressing the start button in Audiobus.

Got it. I'll chat with the guys tomorrow.

Ps any hints on where I find recordings or imports from Audioshare?

At present, recordings are stored on that pad, in that project. You can copy, or duplicate into other projects, and the file is deleted, on the deletion, of the last reference of that file. In other words, there's no file 'manager',and samples are either imported onto a pad, or deleted from that pad.

It would be much better if there were a "user" pack where recordings/imports were stored. But at least I know now thanks.

  • Lots of great feedback on here. Seems like the app needs to mature but the developers are on here and seem to be listening. This is gonna be a great app at some point.

We're on Link now. I'll be able to report back very soon.

Sorry, but as it took 2 years to introduce midi sync with Launchpad, I just don't trust you.

We're sorry it took us longer to deliver this after the launch of the app.

I also don't trust you're doing feedback to your software architect.

I can only promise you, that we are as we all read this forum.

I made tons of request, on your official forums, lots of users did ask for the same things over and over, and never been integrated.

This is my fault, and one of the primary reasons we came to forums like the audiobus forum. here we can engage quicker and more responsively that of our own.

It's not about being frustrated because I didn't have my spaceship on xmas (hmm, it is in a way ;) ) , it's about getting a proper app usable !

We can add space ship to the features list if you like ;-)

I believe you're a community manager making a buzz on this forum. You're doing a great job BTW.

We don't have a community manager as such. We all chip in to help out. We're trying to be open and friendly. You can be sure the people writing here are developers, product chaps.

Few requests for your apps released 2 years ago at least, that nobody answers on your forums, but I'm sure you'll pass to your devs...yeah right:

(can you believe that as a pro app, you can never make any backup of anything ???? So new ipad : new everything ???!!)

This has come up a few times on this forum, and the good news, is that you can now see that we have a real-time stretch engine. This is one of the reasons it took us a while to get MIDI sync out. What wanted to make that we had an engine that allows all the features you've asked for. And now we have one. This facilitates the features you list above. Now, we just have to get them to you in a timely fashion.

    Launchkey:
Great synth, totally useless. -Needs Midi sync -Link -Arpegio sync with midi and Link (yeah, crazy I know) -Midi learn (but it's okay I reverse engined all program change and CC you've been hiding...because it's standard midi, incredible...) -Organise favorites easily (using midi, yeah do you now about that standard ? It's so cool... and allow organisation of your favs, WITHOUT using your keyboard, what a HUGE feature thing to develop...)

Launch key was our very first synth, and we released it for Free, however, the product will not continue. If we're gonna make a synth... then we're gonna make ...a SYNTH.

    Blocs wave:
-Link -Midi sync -Midi learn -Can you save anything with that ? (I mean make backups of your patterns, then transfer them to an other Ipad...wohoo...)

If you get Blocs for the introductory price, you'll get a whole bunch of awesome stuff coming up, included. Link is on the way.

if "it's now possible", why keeping it for later ? Are you waiting to see how many apps you are selling to see how long you can wait till you will not integrate some basic features ?

Our primary reason here, is to Guarantee the quality of our product. For example, blocs wave works down to an a iPhone 4s. That took us a while to make sure it worked, and was solid. Now, that we have a solid foundation, mainly bug free, we can add the features that are mostly already designed and in progress. All the features mentioned on this forum, are things we'd like to see. V1.1 will come out relatively soon, and have some enhanced tweakability (note: refrained from saying very cool stuff... whoop!).

Sorry, not personal, but you guys at Novation, on IOS app development department (or should I say architect marketing department), are really pissing me off...

I believe this is mainly down to our Novation forum. All I can say, is that we're here, and we're here to help. Also, there is just 8 of us, in a small office, in London. We are not based at Novation HQ with the core Business. We're kinda like a small start-up team, but just with a lot of experience.

You can also email us at any time on [email protected] and I'm sure you'll get a prompt response from someone who isn't a community manager. My apologies if we've let you down so far, but I do hope you enjoy our many 'free' products we offered to date, and the new blocs wave.

by the way... this is us, and my name is matt.

  • Bought it! I think we see something later on this app like Ableton Link, Midi learn and Fx. Hopefully soon :). 4,99€ is a nobrainer!

  • @Launchpadforios said:

    V-Station for iOS ? :)
I am one of those that actually paid for V-Station and BassStation VST's, and both are still excellent synths, I just wish I hadn't sold my X-Station, the ability to put patches from V-Station onto it was totally awesome and unique, and I don't think anything else like that exists still today ?
An iOS version of the Nova engine from Circuit would be cool, especially if you could transfer patches between it and the Circuit itself, much like X-Station/V-Station

by the way... this is us, and my name is matt.

Nice to put a face to the name - Hi Matt

I have owned BassStation Keys, DrumStation (back in the day before VST's I wrote windows visual patch managers for these called Voice-Station and Kit-Station, I don't know if anyone there remembers that ?) , XStation and still have a Remote 25 and just recently bought a Launchpad. Circuit is on my wish list too, still trying to win one in the remix contests that you run :D
You guys have always been innovative, and are not scared to break the mould, don't ever let that change :)

BTW If I google Blocs wave - your site isn't appearing in at least the first 3 pages of results.

Ok, Link is a good start, but no midi = no way to control from a DAW, so once again, a single great app, but now it's in sync, but on it's own...Yeah...In 2016, great...

Sorry, but as it took 2 years to introduce midi sync with Launchpad, I just don't trust you.

Ok so to the devs : I love and deeply respect your work, but please think about users that connect apps and devices together. The coolest app standalone is just a standalone uncool app.

I made tons of request, on your official forums, lots of users did ask for the same things over and over, and never been integrated.

Ok, once again, love you guys, love your work, thanks for what your achieving. But...bla bla above.

All the list here will be integrated ? Really ? (I know about Link, this is the cool feature you need to sell app actually...)

Well, now I know you're definitely lying : these features could be done already.
This app (combined with Launchpad) helped a lot to make selling some of your devices, I did buy minilaunchpad and the (very crappy) keyboard, then waited for sync that never came...And won't finally...Till a new device will fit with your new synth app, that won't have midi of course.
So sure, it was free, but it makes us buy some devices and then we've been screwed with 2 apps standalone.

Make a paid addon for midi/link sync, I'll be glad to buy it. For the CC and PC and favs, how come it's not possible yet ? I loved this synth...Just needed some polishing...Now you've killed it before it could be really usefd by anyone...

Devs here (wich are also very good marketer) are announcing features before, and take feedback from their users.
So, what's on the list ? (based on my wishlist...and except Link...)

if "it's now possible", why keeping it for later ? Are you waiting to see how many apps you are selling to see how long you can wait till you will not integrate some basic features ?

Ok, please keep in mind retrocompatibility with midi, I think it was here before any Iphone.

I keep your mail in mind, but I don't want to bother, I think it's better to use public forum to give proper feedback, and discuss new features end user based.
Thanks for your answers Matt, my name is Nicolas, and I hope one day I'll be glad to buy your "free" apps again.

  • guess i'll wait for jakob to make a video explaining how I might make use of this

  • Well the good news in all of this is that I can delete Launchkey and free up a little space on my iPad. Never got around to it, but now that I know it is a dead product it makes it easy!

  • @Launchpadforios is there a way in the app to play the samples like an instrument? And if not is that something you could overlay on the waveform in the future ala samplewiz?

There will be a mode to slice and play with samples. Not exactly like the app you mention, but it will be a much deeper 'playing' with the waveform sound.

It mostly works now, but we need to tweak it before releasing the next version. It will not be an IAP. So the introductory price takes this intro account. I'll post a picture soon.

Thanks Andy! Its a brand new site, so the search engines are probably wurrrring through the site now.

  • For a V1 this is an incredibly beautiful, very elegant app. I'm not really a big third party loops guy, but just like launchpad, the elegance and beauty of your apps makes me want to buy all of the IAPs.

I know you guys are all on different teams but Novation is really on top of its game right now. I just purchased Circuit (a lovely piece of hardware btw) and this app is going to be a perfect companion.

Thanks for being so open to conversation and feedback as well. +1 on a better way to manage what is going to be a huge library of my own personal loops from Circuit. Your sample discovery is Amazing by the way.

    Cheers,

    Robert

    @Launchpadforios

Are there plans for either of these things?

*Ability to access user samples in the browser

    *Separate audio outs per channel

The more this app is able to connect with the outside world via MIDI and audio (user samples, other apps, computers, etc.) the more useful it will be to people IMO. Please don't go the self contained Reason route. :-)

  • Actually after playing with it a bit more it's so easy importing and exporting to Audioshare that it's like AS is its file browser.

  • @Launchpadforios, have you thought of supporting .caf files for Blocs Wave and LaunchPad?

Also, any plans on implementing iOS Document Picker to read and write from one's iCloud Drive?

Sadly no, but it is clear that as the waveform adds more features, like slicing and chopping, there needs to be an easy way to get a WHOLE tune in, and then ...smash it up into tiny little pieces, then re-assemble it. I'm quite excited by this bit..
