The new smaller iPad Pro...

...i could like it. Good camera and up to 256 GB (the big one now too). Same power as the big iPad Pro. But it's 200 bucks cheaper!

  • I I would go for the big one at 256 gb capacity but I just bought the 128gb a few months ago, maybe In a few years

  • This is the first time since owning an iPad I think I might wait to upgrade my Air 2. The new one looks really nice, but not sure I need the extra power right now.

  • Uhh in Germany it is 1049€ for the 256GB 9.7"!
A few bucks more and you get a macbook.
Well, i have to think about it. But when i would buy an iPad again it will be this one.
I doubt we see many 12.9" optimized pro apps because the 9.7" iPads are the major part and i think this one will sell better!

  • The new Pro is nice , but I'm confident that I'll be able to stick with my Air 2 for another year before I feel I have to upgrade.

  • The new IPAD PRO is a beast with 4gb of internal RAM and 256gb storage.

  • It was rewarding to see Tim Cook finally answer my call. Been on him for ages now for a 256gb model. Thank you, you're welcome ;)

    256gb. Huge.

  • I think this new iPad Pro will be what gets me to upgrade from my current iPad Air 1. The big iPad Pro was neat, but I don't think I entirely need all that screen (except for watching Netflix). This 256gb might be the ticket (I have too many apps).

  • Well, 256 is an entree size for a pc.... and since he wants to sell it as the new pc. 8GB ram and it would be a good start....hehe.

Hey I've missed the whole show. Do we know when 9.3 is out?

  • Downloading....

  • If the "Pro" moniker lifts tablet sales for Apple, I fully expect an iPhone Pro soon. Then we'll get the iPad Debonair, even lighter than the Air or Pro and more interesting than the most interesting man in the world, possessing far more international intrigue than the sissy Pro model. Admit it, you feel inferior already.

It's been this way since the beginning of time. It's only recently that they've been gluing it in, though.

That was cheap, provided youre talking SSD, of course.

  • I'm waiting for the ipad pro to go bye bye. And I'll buy the ipad elite. Or maybe I'll wait for the Epic.....

Really though, I will prob. get a refurb air 2.

  • "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is ... more GB!"

That why it's so exspensive???!!?..... Super Glue & Duct Tape cost a lot of money no days. My dad has been complaining recently about the price of Duct Tape, when he has to repair his gardens strimmer....... Lol...... :D

me too.And the 128GB (wifi only) model is almost 200€ more expensive than my Air 2 with 128GB was (bought in apple store as well).Yes but no thanks.I'll keep the Air 2,it's a fine device.

  • Think the best news here is that the Air 2's have dropped by $100 each.

although with a max of 64GB

Interesting point. As an iPad2 user (well, increasingly a iPhone 6s user since my tablet is slow), the Air 2 is a significant upgrade. But I think 32GB is the absolute minimum of what I would carry for a music-making device. Arguably, the 128GB Air 3 would then be the most cost effective solution that would make a significant difference going forward, once you've committed to spending $500+ for a new tablet anyway.

But it seems now that the iPad Pro 12.9" can transfer data via usb 3 while the iPad Pro 9.7" just uses usb 2.

  • ^ noticed that too. why Apple? WHY?

Anyone here over the age of 30 knows our elders weren't lying when they said time flies, so you gotta live and enjoy life cause it moves right along. But the carpe diem mindset isn't always prudent with technology. The advancements chug along with lightning speed as well, and a great piece of kit may be seen as nearing obsolescence even when it is far from it....the "new generation every year" policy taken by most tech companies just seems to emphasize it. Newer is better.

For me, my Air 2 is going to be good for another year, maybe more; I've had it now for barely a year now anyway. I am really interested in seeing the jump from the iPad Pro 9.7 next year. If this new one has 4GB of RAM and the 256GB flash storage I figure the next "standard" size will probably come with at least 5 to 6GB RAM and possibly Apple will even increase the storage.

We're just getting to the point of diminishing returns. How much faster can you make something already extremely fast? The jumps in storage and RAM to maximize the performance of the apps that our community will use are the real attractions.

I don't know how much more an A10X chip is going to improve things when the specs they showed on this new A9X chip for the Pro 9.7 are great, but not worlds away from the A8X.

Although to those who had my similar "wait awhile" mindset a few generations back, they would be in tall cotton with a jump to the smaller iPad Pro. My Air 2 is badass, so if the new Pro 9.7 is even just a small improvement over it, well the investment will be a wise one.

  • wired transfer speed: that ugly wart on iOS, you try to ignore it but whenever you notice it you just want to cut it OFF.
