  • I know from experience to never say 'I don't need more power', but I recently picked up a refurbished 128 gig 12.9 Pro for a very good price, and the thing is astonishing. With a minimum of potential track-freezing, I can't imagine it not meeting all my iPad music making needs for years to come. Something to keep in mind if prices drop on the original model when something new arrives.

(And the pencil rocks: the first stylus I've found totally comfortable to use for digital drawing and painting... Cintiqs being just a wee bit outside of my price range).

  • Currently enjoying iPad Pro 9.7 256GB. But if Apple releases a 12.9 with 8GB of RAM and an A10 processor...... I'll sell everything I own and buy a desert island.

  • With the next Apple event just nine days away, I'm hoping to see a 12.9" iPad Pro 2, but I suspect that won't happen till March.

For those who have been using your iPad Pros for a few months now, are you still satisfied? Anything overkill? Anything noticeably lacking?

  • Doubt a new iPad 13 in her will be here this year. Yeah look out for next year.
Had the 13 inch pro since November launch. I I use it from music to home automation. Nothing overkill but we all have our own opinions on what is overkill and what is not.

  • Its funny how this thread started (in the first Pages) with worries that Apple would not release a new 12.9 iPad models when current rumors actually point to the disappearance of the 9.7 model for a 10.5 and dropping the 7.9 iPad.

Which would be a pity, because the 7.9" is by far the most convenient format for travelling light and the iPad model I take with me almost exclusively (whereas the bigger iPads remain on the couch/desk).

I still thinks that the Apple Pencil is the big thing with iPad Pro...
Yeah, the 12.9" is still superfast and joyful, but, sometimes to heavy (with case)...
My "old" retired Air2-64-4G feels so tiny since the big brother moved in...

We will have pro-apps, as Auria and some others. It's already good for me.

This implies that any apps not optimised are not professional, which is bollocks.

The only reason manufacturers/ developers don't sort out iPad Pro 12" versions is because it's a lot of effort for not much, if any reward. Apple could change this in an instant by offering incentives, but being like Smaug hoarding their gold, they do nothing...so nothing gets done.

I like my 12.9 iPad Pro a lot, it's basically my main computer, but I get that it could be a lot for some people. On the other hand my iPad Pro 9.7 it's super light and super portable and of course It's easier to carry around, I like it a lot as well. But I never liked the mini size, especially after the iPhone 6 Plus brought the iPhone closer in size and the iPad Air/ Air 2 brought the 9.7 iPad closer in weight

if I want to carry an iPad (mini, regular, big) around I absolutely need a bag or something as it will not fit in my pocket anyway so might as well go with a 9.7 iPad ( the difference it's negligible at this point in weight and you get a lot more screen) or if I want the ultimate portability nothing will beat the phone ever so an iPhone (plus) may be good enough for most cases. That's the way I think anyway, the iPad mini sits very uncomfortable in the middle of the both and in a really narrow space. I know some people love it, I just don't get it so I'm not sad to see it go away but I'm sad to see 9.7 model go away or at least downplayed.

  • The Big Boy makes me happy. Not a sentence I would have made much of sense of a few years back I'll admit...I do more (a lot more photo/video stuff) and am far less frustrated by limitations in processing and of eye. Hasn't improved my song-writing however...

  • I've been using a 12.9" for exactly one month now and being that the screen size is about that of an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper it feels very familiar and comfortable. After even brief sessions with the 12.9" my Air 1 feels like it was shrunk in the dryer: comically small (yet still as beautiful as ever.) In my hands it's not so much that the 12.9" is XL Big but that the other models are actually quite (s) small.

For most of the time I had my Air I was also tempted to get a Mini but the 12.9" has rendered my Air to that ultra-pistol-portable niche and life is good. Slightly off topic: the Pencil is incredible - it's taken me a few weeks to realize just how amazing it is and paired with the right apps I feel firmly in the future. Two thumbs up for 12.9" Big Guy.

  • I've had a 12.9" for about a month now, though due to various work/family/travel commitments, I haven't had a full chance to do much beyond download the music apps I wanted on there and thumb around a bit. So far, I've been nothing but impressed. Coming from an iPad2, it's not just the size and speed, but also the resolution of that retina display (and at such a large viewable area). Some music apps that were previously unusable are now quite comfortable. Some of them that have more of a spread-out U.I. feel almost comically over-sized on the larger screen.

I will say that the additional size isn't necessarily an advantage in all ways. It's not particularly comfortable if you have to hold it up or even on a lap. On the floor or propped up with a case on a firm surface, it's great. For Netflix, etc., it's basically the size that many small TV's were when I was growing up in the 80's, so it's amazing for that.

So I won't be disappointed if Apple doesn't make "Pro-specific" apps, or scraps the larger size altogether. I got the Pro because I was tired of always feeling like my iPad was under-powered in CPU/RAM. As was said above, I'm not likely to have that worry again any time soon!

  • I have an Urban Armour case with an adjustable stand. Problem solved.. Also, trust me if you ever use Auria Pro, you WILL be glad for th extra screen real estate. It's "comical" perhaps when you compare it to a smaller iPad. But keep in mind there will be more apps optimized for it. I chose it over a new laptop and never looked back.

  • i, too have a 12.9"...cant find any audio docks that it is compatible with, am i wrong?
